Ryhope Engines Museum

Ryhope ( RY-əp) is a coastal village along the southern boundary of the City of Sunderland, in Tyne and Wear, North East England. With a population of approximately 14,000, measured at 10.484 in the 2011 census, Ryhope is 2.9 miles to the centre of Sunderland, 2.8 miles to the centre of Seaham, and 1.2 miles from the main A19. The older village section is centred on a triangular 'green', which contains a war monument. The newer 'Colliery' area of Ryhope flanks the Ryhope Street/Tunstall Bank road, which lead toward the Tunstall and Silksworth areas of Sunderland.

Cherry Knowle Hospital was a mental health facility in Ryhope, Tyne and Wear, England. It was managed by the South of Tyne and Wearside Mental Health NHS Trust.

thumb The Venerable Bede Church of England Academy (formerly Venerable Bede Church of England (Aided) Secondary School) is a coeducational secondary school located in the Tunstall area of Ryhope, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. The school is named after Saint Bede, a monk, author and scholar who wrote Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum.

Ryhope East was one of two railway stations to have served the village of Ryhope, Tyne and Wear, North East England. Opened in 1858 as a stop on the short Londonderry, Seaham and Sunderland Railway, it became a minor stop on the Durham Coast Line following that line's incorporation into it in 1905.

Tunstall is a suburb of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England which is mostly a privately purchased estate. It is located to the west of Ryhope, and east of Silksworth. The area was built around a large hill, known as Tunstall Hill. Since 1966 pilgrims have erected crucifixes on the hill every Good Friday.It is the location of Venerable Bede Church of England Academy, which is on the former site of Ryhope Colliery and later Ryhope golf course.

Grangetown is a suburb of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England. It is situated two miles south of Sunderland City Centre and two miles north of Ryhope. Grangetown was previously known for heavy traffic congestion, as it contained the intersection of the original route of the A1018 road (which was the original route of the A19 and the main road into Sunderland from the south) and the inner and outer ring roads. Since the opening of the new Southern Radial Route in mid-2008, traffic has become less of an issue in the area. Grangetown is home to many shops and is a popular shopping place for locals. It contains Grangetown Primary School and Southmoor Academy. The borders of Grangetown are Hillview to the west, the sea to the east, Hendon and Ashbrooke to the north and Ryhope to the south. Some main roads in Grangetown are Leechmere Road, Ryhope Road, Queen Alexandra Road and Sea View Road. Sea View Road is a very affluent road in Grangetown and has large houses on the main road and semi-detached houses, detached houses and bungalows on the culs de sacs off it. Sea View Road is home to Sea View House a large family home.

Seaton is a village in County Durham, in England. It is on the A19 road south of Sunderland. It is located approximately 2 miles west of Seaham The village has two pubs.

Seaham High School (formerly Seaham School of Technology) is a coeducational secondary school located in Seaham, County Durham, England, for pupils aged 11–16. It is the only secondary school in the area, acting as a hub for most year 6 children leaving the local primary schools. The school is part of the Eden Learning Trust.

Seaham Red Star Football Club is a football club based in Seaham, England. They joined the Wearside League in 1979 as Seaham Colliery Welfare Red Star. In the 1978–79 season, they reached the 5th round of the FA Vase. In 1984, they changed to their present name. For the 2014–15 season, they are members of Northern League Division Two. Seaham were confirmed second division champions on 28 March 2015 and will return to Division One for the 2015–16 season. The Club has a focus on producing local players and providing a platform for talented local players to play Northern League football.

Silksworth is a suburb of the City of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. The area can be distinguished into two parts, old Silksworth, the original village and township which has existed since the early middle ages, and New Silksworth, the industrial age colliery village which expanded north west of the original settlement. The former colliery being situated to the north west of the village near to the Gilley Law. The population of the ward was 10,931 at the 2011 census.
