Hunterhouse College is a cross-community all-girls' grammar school based in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was formed from the amalgamation of two local schools – Ashleigh House School and Princess Gardens School in 1987. As the headmistresses from both schools had the surname "Hunter" at the time of the merger, and an original headmistress was Anna Hunter, the combined school took the name "Hunterhouse College". Hunterhouse now has its first ever headmaster. Mr Andrew Gibson has been the Principal since September 2008 and was previously Vice-Principal at Grosvenor Grammar. In 2012 Hunterhouse celebrated its 25 Anniversary year including a concert at the Ulster Hall, Belfast, which past Hunterians, Princess Gardens and Ashleigh House pupils attended. Balmoral High School was a secondary school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established by a merger of Deramore High School and Larkfield High School (founded in 1946). The school was managed by the Belfast Education and Library Board (BELB). The school opened in September 1996 ( The new building was opened in January 2002, not the school) and closed in August 2008, due to falling pupil numbers. It had been built as an education 'pathfinder' for the private finance initiative (PFI).The school's design was almost identical to Wellington College Belfast, however the shape of the building was slightly different. The old Larkfield building was situated adjacent to the new building occupied by Balmoral. The PFI was structured so that the old school site and land was used to build a large housing development and building the new school next to this site. The BELB are tied to a 25-year contract, which was inflation-proofed, and in 2006 the BELB paid more than £370,000 to use the school. Even discounting inflation, a minimum of £7.4m will have to be paid out over the remaining period of the contract, whether the school remains empty or not. At present, their Regional Training Unit occupies part of the Balmoral building. The project was described, by the Belfast Telegraph, as "botched".

Finaghy ( or ; from Irish an Fionnachadh, meaning 'the white field') is an electoral ward in the Balmoral district of Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland. It is based on the townland of Ballyfinaghy (from Irish Baile an Fhionnachaidh). There has been a small community living in the area since the 17th century, and it has been involved in the production of linen, which was key to the Lagan Valley area at the time.

Finaghy railway station is located in the townland of Finaghy (aka Ballyfinaghy) in south Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The Great Northern Railway of Ireland opened the station on 9 February 1907.

The 1976 Andersonstown incident or the 1976 Andersonstown-Finaghy incident, was a brief altercation between members of the Provisional IRA and the British Army, in Andersonstown and North Finaghy, in August 1976. Which resulted in the deaths of 3 children who were killed when a car struck them after the man driving was shot and killed.

Rathmore Grammar School, normally referred to simply as "Rathmore", is a Catholic grammar school in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. The current and second lay principal of the school is Arthur Donnelly, who succeeded Thérèse Hamilton as principal at the beginning of the academic year 2021/22. Rathmore is one of the highest-performing and most competitive schools in Northern Ireland.The school is situated in extensive grounds behind the St. Anne's "campus", consisting of St. Anne's Primary School, Parish Church, and Parish Centre. Rathmore Grammar School is paired with the Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium in Bonn, Germany and Colegio de San Jose in Madrid, Spain.

Dunmurry railway station is located in the townland of Dunmurry in west Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The Ulster Railway station opened on 12 August 1839. It lies between the centres of Belfast and Lisburn, thus making it a busy commuter station during peak hours.

Dunmurry Golf Club is located in Dunmurry Lane, south-west Belfast, Northern Ireland. It consists of an 18-hole course with a par of 70.Founded in 1905, the club was originally located in Upper Dunmurry Lane. The original 9-hole course was designed and laid by G.S. Dunn of Newcastle, County Down, in 1905. The course was extended to 14 holes in 1973 and then to 18 holes in 1977. As a result of road improvements in the area, the club moved to a new course in Dunmurry Lane approximately one mile away from the previous course. Honourable members include Dame Mary Peters who represented at the Summer Olympic Games for Team GB and for Northern Ireland in the Commonwealth Games winning Gold.

Malone Integrated College is a grant maintained, integrated, co-educational, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious secondary school, situated in Finaghy, South-West Belfast, Northern Ireland.

British Army corporals Derek Wood and David Howes were killed by the Provisional IRA on 19 March 1988 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in what became known as the corporals killings. The soldiers (wearing civilian clothes, both armed with Browning Hi-Power pistols and in a civilian car) drove into the funeral procession of an IRA member. Three days before, loyalist Michael Stone had attacked an IRA funeral and killed three people. Believing the soldiers were loyalists intent on repeating Stone's attack, dozens of people surrounded and attacked their car. During this, Corporal Wood drew his service pistol and fired a shot into the air. The soldiers were then dragged from the car and taken to a nearby sports ground where they were beaten, stripped and searched. They were then driven to a nearby waste ground where they were shot dead.The incident was filmed by an overhead British Army helicopter and television news cameras; the images have been described by journalist Peter Taylor as some of the "most dramatic and harrowing" of the conflict in Northern Ireland.Two men were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, but were released in 1998 under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. Several other men received lesser sentences for their part in the murders.

Casement Park (Irish: Páirc Mhic Asmaint) is the principal Gaelic games stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland, that served as the home ground of the Antrim hurling and Gaelic football teams. It is located in Andersonstown Road in the west of the city, and is named after the Irish revolutionary Roger Casement. In 2015 it had an official capacity of 32,282, with safety certification for 31,661, including 6,962 seated. The stadium was closed as of June 2013, and by 2021 was considered in a state of dereliction, with redevelopment plans pending for several years. While planning permission for the redevelopment of Casement Park was confirmed in July 2021, by March 2023, the stadium remained closed and had been "out of action for a decade". A successful combined bid by the Republic of Ireland and England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to host UEFA Euro 2028, includes a proposal to redevelop the stadium by 2028.

Dunmurry (; from Irish Dún Muirígh 'Murry's stronghold') is a suburban town and townland near Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dunmurry is in the Collin electoral ward for the local government district of Belfast City Council.
