Dunmurry railway station

Dunmurry (; from Irish Dún Muirígh 'Murry's stronghold') is a suburban town and townland near Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dunmurry is in the Collin electoral ward for the local government district of Belfast City Council.

Balmoral High School was a secondary school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established by a merger of Deramore High School and Larkfield High School (founded in 1946). The school was managed by the Belfast Education and Library Board (BELB). The school opened in September 1996 ( The new building was opened in January 2002, not the school) and closed in August 2008, due to falling pupil numbers. It had been built as an education 'pathfinder' for the private finance initiative (PFI).The school's design was almost identical to Wellington College Belfast, however the shape of the building was slightly different. The old Larkfield building was situated adjacent to the new building occupied by Balmoral. The PFI was structured so that the old school site and land was used to build a large housing development and building the new school next to this site. The BELB are tied to a 25-year contract, which was inflation-proofed, and in 2006 the BELB paid more than £370,000 to use the school. Even discounting inflation, a minimum of £7.4m will have to be paid out over the remaining period of the contract, whether the school remains empty or not. At present, their Regional Training Unit occupies part of the Balmoral building. The project was described, by the Belfast Telegraph, as "botched".

Rathmore Grammar School, normally referred to simply as "Rathmore", is a Catholic grammar school in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. The current and second lay principal of the school is Arthur Donnelly, who succeeded Thérèse Hamilton as principal at the beginning of the academic year 2021/22. Rathmore is one of the highest-performing and most competitive schools in Northern Ireland.The school is situated in extensive grounds behind the St. Anne's "campus", consisting of St. Anne's Primary School, Parish Church, and Parish Centre. Rathmore Grammar School is paired with the Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium in Bonn, Germany and Colegio de San Jose in Madrid, Spain.

The Dunmurry train bombing was a premature detonation of a Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) incendiary bomb aboard a Ballymena to Belfast passenger train service on 17 January 1980. The blast engulfed a carriage of the train in flames, killing three and injuring five others. One of the dead and the most seriously injured survivor were volunteers of the IRA. After the blast, the organisation issued a statement acknowledging responsibility, apologising to those who were harmed and stated that it was 'grave and distressing' but an 'accident' caused by the 'war situation'.

St. Colm's High School is a Roman Catholic co-educational secondary school situated in the Twinbrook area, on the edge of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Hunterhouse College is a cross-community all-girls' grammar school based in Finaghy, Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was formed from the amalgamation of two local schools – Ashleigh House School and Princess Gardens School in 1987. As the headmistresses from both schools had the surname "Hunter" at the time of the merger, and an original headmistress was Anna Hunter, the combined school took the name "Hunterhouse College". Hunterhouse now has its first ever headmaster. Mr Andrew Gibson has been the Principal since September 2008 and was previously Vice-Principal at Grosvenor Grammar. In 2012 Hunterhouse celebrated its 25 Anniversary year including a concert at the Ulster Hall, Belfast, which past Hunterians, Princess Gardens and Ashleigh House pupils attended. New Grosvenor Stadium and Drumbo Park is a multi-purpose stadium in Ballyskeagh, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is currently used for football matches and greyhound racing, the latter is operating under the name Drumbo Park. The stadium currently has a total capacity of 1,500 which 790 can be seated, however this is split to a capacity for football matches of 1,500 (540 seated) and a capacity of 1,000 (250 seated) for greyhound racing.

Dunmurry Golf Club is located in Dunmurry Lane, south-west Belfast, Northern Ireland. It consists of an 18-hole course with a par of 70.Founded in 1905, the club was originally located in Upper Dunmurry Lane. The original 9-hole course was designed and laid by G.S. Dunn of Newcastle, County Down, in 1905. The course was extended to 14 holes in 1973 and then to 18 holes in 1977. As a result of road improvements in the area, the club moved to a new course in Dunmurry Lane approximately one mile away from the previous course. Honourable members include Dame Mary Peters who represented at the Summer Olympic Games for Team GB and for Northern Ireland in the Commonwealth Games winning Gold.

Poleglass (from Irish Poll Glas, meaning 'green hollow') is an area of west Belfast in Northern Ireland. It is the name of a townland, a modern electoral ward, and a housing estate. The townland is situated in the civil parish of Derriaghy and the historic Barony of Belfast Upper. It is mainly an Irish nationalist area. Due to its proximity to both Belfast and Lisburn, it has become popular with commuters. This has led to the swift growth of housing in the area and a sharp rise in house prices. Addresses in Poleglass are classed as being in Belfast, and the telephone numbers in the area generally start with '90' as with the rest of Belfast.

Derriaghy railway station is located in the townland of Derriaghy in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It lies between the centres of Belfast and Lisburn. The station opened on 9 February 1907 and was closed to passengers between 1953 and 1958.

Ballyskeagh (from Irish: Baile Sceach, meaning 'townland of thorn bushes') is a small village and townland situated between Lambeg and Drumbeg in County Down, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 186 people. It lies within the Lagan Valley Regional Park and the Lisburn City Council area.

Finaghy ( or ; from Irish an Fionnachadh, meaning 'the white field') is an electoral ward in the Balmoral district of Belfast City Council, Northern Ireland. It is based on the townland of Ballyfinaghy (from Irish Baile an Fhionnachaidh). There has been a small community living in the area since the 17th century, and it has been involved in the production of linen, which was key to the Lagan Valley area at the time.
