Henderson-Massey Local Board is one of the 21 local boards of the Auckland Council, and is overseen by the council's Waitākere Ward and Whau Ward councillors. The board's administrative area includes the suburbs of West Harbour, Massey, Rānui, Glendene, Lincoln, Henderson South, Sunnyvale, Te Atatū Peninsula, and Te Atatū South, and covers from the foothills of the Waitākere Ranges in the west and the Waitematā Harbour in the east.The board is governed by eight board members elected at-large. The inaugural members were elected in the nationwide 2010 local elections, coinciding with the introduction of the Auckland Council.

WestCity Waitakere is a major regional shopping centre located in Henderson, a suburb in Auckland, New Zealand. It is 15.9 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the Auckland CBD, and is immediately adjacent to The Boundary. The centre has a current catchment area of 174,340 persons, and annual turnover at the centre for 2006 was $161.10 million NZD with 8.5 million visitors per year.In February 2017, it was announced that owner Scentre Group had sold the mall, at the time named Westfield WestCity, to the family-owned Australian business Angaet Group for $147 million AUD.

Apna is a New Zealand radio network targeted towards ethnic minorities. The radio network broadcasts on 990 AM in Whangārei, Auckland and Hamilton, and plays Bollywood music alongside cultural features and discussions.Apna networks serve Indian, Fijian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Punjabi communities. The radio network is one of the only media outlets serving the Fijian population. Many of its hosts knew or worked with Radio Sargam presenter Anirudh Diwakar, who is crediting with inspiring Apna's "Fiji style" Hindi radio format. The radio network has not participated in independent TNS New Zealand audience surveys, unlike its large multi-station competitors New Zealand Media and Entertainment, MediaWorks New Zealand. However, the station has commissioned research which suggests it had up to 80,000 listeners.

Auckland Film Studios, formerly known as Henderson Valley Studios, is New Zealand's largest film studio complex, located in Henderson, West Auckland. Entrances to the complex are on Hickory Ave, Henderson Valley Road and Rabone Street, Henderson. The complex was originally built as insulated fruit store houses, hence their nickname, the 'cool stores'. Henderson Valley Studios have been used as film studios since 1994 when they were occupied by the television series Hercules and Xena, but since these shows ended, the studios have been home to such films and television shows as: Whale Rider Boogeyman In My Father's Den The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 30 Days of Night Maddigan's Quest Matuku Bridge to Terabithia Deceit No. 2 Are You Smarter than a 10 Year Old? The Warrior's Way Legend of the Seeker Meg 2The studios are also used for countless television commercials. The studios are laid out over a 4ha site, between Henderson Valley Rd and Railside Ave. Within this site are 4 (soon to be 5) Sound Stages, 2 Production Office spaces, Prop and Costume workshops, as well as various commercial film related operations. In late 2006, New Zealand's biggest sound stage began construction at Henderson Valley Studios scheduled for completion in mid-2007. This sound stage is purpose built and bigger than that owned by Peter Jackson at his Stone St Studios complex in Wellington. The studios have been owned by Enterprise Waitakere, the business arm of the Waitakere City Council since 2002. It is because of studios such as Auckland Film Studios, South Pacific Pictures and Studio West, that West Auckland has been dubbed 'Westiewood'.

The Boundary (formerly named Waitakere Mega Centre) is an integrated bulk retail shopping centre located in Henderson, a suburb in the west of Auckland, New Zealand. It is located on Vitasovich Avenue, approximately 15.7 kilometres (9.8 mi) west of the Auckland CBD, and is immediately adjacent to the WestCity Waitakere mall. The centre is configured in four freestanding blocks and draws from substantial undercroft parking facilities.

Henderson High School is a co-educational secondary school in the West Auckland suburb of Henderson, New Zealand, catering for students from Year 9 to Year 13. Many notable alumni attended Jubilees held in 2003 (50th) and 2013 (60th). Historically the school has always been an important part of the community and stability of leadership has ensured that it is well resourced with a wide range of facilities. Recent reviews by the Education Review Office have been positive.

Falls Hotel, also known as the Oratia Hotel, is a historic Georgian hotel in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand listed as a Category 2 building by Heritage New Zealand. Falls Hotel was the first licensed hotel in Henderson and allowed people from Auckland to make — what was at the time — the long trip between the two towns.

Corban Estate Arts Centre is an arts precinct in West Auckland, New Zealand. Established in 2002 at the site of the Mt Lebanon Vineyard and Winery, the arts centre provides creative production, theatre and gallery space to New Zealand artists.

The Ōpanuku Stream, formerly known as the Henderson Stream, is a stream of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows east from its source the Waitākere Ranges through the Henderson Valley, then north-east through West Auckland before entering into the Te Wai-o-Pareira / Henderson Creek, which flows into the western the Waitematā Harbour. The stream passes through the rural locality of Henderson Valley and the West Auckland suburbs of Western Heights and Henderson. Since the mid-2000s it has been forested with native flora.

The Oratia Stream is a stream of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north-east from its source at the township of Waiatarua in the Waitākere Ranges, before entering into the Te Wai-o-Pareira / Henderson Creek, which flows into the western the Waitematā Harbour. After beginning at Waiatarua, the stream passes through the rural locality of Oratia and the West Auckland suburbs of Sunnyvale and Henderson. Since the mid-2000s, the Oratia Stream has been forested with native flora.

Waitakere Hospital is a general hospital located in the Henderson/Lincoln area of the New Zealand city of Auckland. It is administered by Te Whatu Ora and provides health services to residents in the North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney districts of Auckland. It has 76 medical beds and 6 coronary care beds, a maternity unit and a surgical unit with 3 operating theatres. The hospital's Emergency Department is open to both adult and paediatric patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Waikumete Stream is a stream of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north from its sources in Titirangi, before joining the Oratia Stream. Both bodies are tributaries of Te Wai-o-Pareira / Henderson Creek, which flows into the western Waitematā Harbour. The stream passes through the suburbs of Titirangi, Kaurilands, Glen Eden and Sunnyvale, and since the mid-2000s has been forested with native flora.
