Phallic Rock

The Carefree Sundial, in Carefree, Arizona, was designed by architect Joe Wong and solar engineer John I. Yellott (1908–1986), was erected in the Sundial Circle plaza in 1959. The sundial is made from a steel frame and covered in anodized copper. As originally designed the 1200mm wide gnomon acted as a heat collecting plate for a local heating scheme. It measures 90 feet (27 m) in diameter. The metal gnomon, the shadow-casting portion of the dial, stands 35 feet (11 m) above the plaza and extends 62 feet (19 m). Local apparent time is 27.7 minutes behind the meridian time which here is Mountain Standard Time. The hour markers are adjusted accordingly.

Carefree is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is a suburb of both Phoenix and Scottsdale, located in the far northeast area of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the population of the town was 3,690.

The Cave Creek Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity at the base of the Black Mountains in the town of Cave Creek in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The museum preserves artifacts of the prehistory and objects related to the culture of the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area. The museum consists of various exhibits, indoor and outdoor. Among the outdoor exhibits are the first church of Cave Creek and the last tubercular cabin in the state of Arizona.

The Cave Creek Service Station, at 6141 Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek, Arizona, was built in 1936. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. According to its NRHP nomination, it is:a good example of a style of automobile service station designed in 1935 and patented in 1936 by Ralph N. Aldrich for Standard Stations, Inc., a division of Standard Oil of California. The station is a prefabricated building consisting of galvanized steel panels on a frame of steel girders. The design reflects the Modern Movement, showing elements of the Streamline Moderne and International styles. Character-defining elements include the building's strong horizontal emphasis, smooth wall surface, flat roof with beveled coping at the roofline, extensive glazing, elongated canopy, minimal decoration, and streamlines on the canopy columns and entry surround. The station was originally erected in Phoenix circa 1936. In 1952 it was moved to Cave Creek, where it functioned as a service station until the late 1980s.

The Cave Creek Unified School District is the school district serving Cave Creek and Carefree, Arizona, as well as the northern portion of Scottsdale and a sliver of eastern Phoenix. It operates one high school (Cactus Shadows High School), one middle school (Sonoran Trails), and five elementary schools (Lone Mountain Elementary School, Black Mountain Elementary School, Horseshoe Trails Elementary School, Desert Willow Elementary School, and Desert Sun Academy). A second middle school, Desert Arroyo, was closed in May 2010.

Bella Vista Private School is a 9–12 private school in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It was founded in 2004, first as a middle school then expanding over time. The school has moved locations over the years. It moved from Cave Creek, Arizona to rented units next to Cactus Shadows High School. It is now located in the Arcadia area of Phoenix at 3250 N 40th St.

The Grace Museum of America is located in Cave Creek, Arizona in the mountains of the Sonoran Desert. The museum was started by Grace Voss Frederick and houses a collection of historical objects from significant times in American history. According to Frederick, the museum is intended to document America's "transition from a primitive country to a great nation". Many of the items were collected throughout Frederick's life and travels (she lived from 1905 to 2009). The museum planning began in the early 1980s and the museum opened in the mid-1980s. The Grace Museum of America contains significant items from the last 200 years of American history.The museum is funded by the Grace Foundation for Preservation of Americana; a non-profit organization which operated for charitable and educational purposes.

Cave Creek is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the town was 4,892.

KFNX (1100 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Cave Creek, Arizona, and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It airs a talk radio format and is owned by Futures and Options, Inc., headed by William J. Brady. By day, KFNX is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations. But 1100 AM is a clear channel frequency. So to avoid interference to other stations, KFNX reduces power at night to 1,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a three-tower array. The transmitter is on East Carefree Highway in the Desert View Village neighborhood of Phoenix.

Congregation Beth Israel (Hebrew: בית ישראל) is a Reform Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at 10460 North 56th Street in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the United States. Incorporated in 1920, the congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism in 1935.Abraham Lincoln Krohn was rabbi of Beth Israel from 1938 to 1953, and during his tenure the congregation grew from under 100 to almost 600 member families. He was succeeded by Albert Plotkin, who served for almost 40 years.Beth Israel's original building in Downtown Phoenix, constructed in 1921–1922, is listed on both the city's historic property register and the National Register of Historic Places. After being sold in 1949, it housed churches until 2002, when the Jewish community repurchased it. In 2007 the Arizona Jewish Historical Society started a $4 million campaign to restore it and convert it into a museum.As of 2018, Beth Israel was the oldest synagogue in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The senior rabbi was Stephen Kahn, the associate rabbi was Sara Mason-Barkin, and the cantor was Seth Ettinger.
