Wirt is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Indiana, in the United States. A post office was established at Wirt in 1834. The community was named for William Wirt, a pioneer.

Madison Consolidated High School is a school, in Madison, Indiana. It is a part of the Madison Consolidated Schools. The school was first constructed in 1960 with multiple expansions starting in 1969. Since the school's original construction, a library, gymnasium, cafeteria, and fine arts academy have been either added or renovated along with two entire school wings for extra capacity. MCHS is home to the Conner K. Salm Gymnasium, the Opal E. Sherman Auditorium, and a large athletic facility.

Smyrna is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, Indiana, in the United States. It is also called Creswell. A post office called Creswell operated from 1869 until 1902.

Clifty Falls State Park is an Indiana state park on 1,416 acres (573 ha) in Jefferson County, Indiana in the United States. It is 46 miles (74 km) northeast of Louisville, Kentucky. The park attracts about 370,000 visitors annually. On October 27, 1920, citizens of Madison, Indiana gave the land for the park, 570 acres (230 ha), to the state of Indiana at the suggestion of Richard Lieber. This was after a year's work by the citizens. A naturalist program for Indiana state parks started in 1927, with Clifty Falls being one of the first four parks to implement the program. The park features Clifty Creek, Little Clifty Creek, and a canyon in which the sun only shines during midday. It has many acclaimed nature trails, especially those that go near Clifty Falls. The Clifty Inn is available for overnight guests, and the park contains a campground with sites for RV and tent campers.

Madison is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Indiana, United States, along the Ohio River. As of the 2010 United States Census its population was 11,967. Over 55,000 people live within 15 miles (24 km) of downtown Madison. Madison is the largest city along the Ohio River between Louisville and Cincinnati. In 2006, the majority of Madison's downtown area was designated a National Historic Landmark—133 blocks of the downtown area is known as the Madison Historic Landmark District.

Clifty Creek Power Plant is a 1,300-MW coal-fired power station located in Madison, Indiana. Clifty Creek is operated by the Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation. It is named after Clifty Creek, which enters the Ohio River nearby.

Smyrna Township is one of ten townships in Jefferson County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,116 and it contained 453 housing units. Created on June 16, 1847 by the Jefferson County Commissioners, Smyrna was the last of Jefferson County's 10 townships to be formed. It is largely rural with only small unincorporated areas as population centers. No post offices operate in the township. The following post offices once operated in the township: Creswell (May 29, 1856-Nov. 30, 1892) and (June 6, 1893-Sept. 13, 1902); Volga (May 29, 1856 – July 14, 1904); Wakefield (July 8, 1899-Feb. 15, 1905). 6.

Crawford-Whitehead-Ross House is a historic home located at Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. It was built about 1833, and is a two-story, Federal style brick dwelling with a side hall plan. The house was enlarged about 1852-1853 modified about 1871 in the Italianate style with the addition of metal window detailing and an elaborate cornice.: 5  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It is located in the Madison Historic District.
