Skeppsholmsbron (Swedish: "The Skeppsholm Bridge") is in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting Blasieholmen to Skeppsholmen. The bridge, 165 metres long and 9.5 metres wide, consists of a 5.5 metre wide roadway flanked by 2 metre pathways, and has 5 arches. It was the first forged iron bridge to be constructed in Sweden, manufactured by Motala Verkstad in 1861.The Gilded Crowns on Skeppsholmsbron are a set of two crowns at the midpoint of the bridge. The crown is a symbol of Sweden and the Royal Family of Sweden and it can be clearly seen on the Coat of arms of Sweden. The first bridge to connect Skeppsholmen to the rest of the city was a wooden bridge on poles, simply called Holmbron ("The Islet Bridge") and provided with a drawbridge, constructed by the admiralty in 1638-1640 when the camp of the Swedish Navy was relocated from Blasieholmen to Skeppsholmen. In 1822 the bridge was damaged in a fire, and subsequently replaced by a temporary pontoon bridge. Funded directly and still owned by the state, the present steel bridge was finally inaugurated in 1861.In 1935 the bridge together with other building and structures on Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen were classified as historical landmarks, thus prohibiting replacing the bridge or altering its exterior, a decision nevertheless reassessed in the 1990s.

Nationalmuseum (or National Museum of Fine Arts) is the national gallery of Sweden, located on the peninsula Blasieholmen in central Stockholm. The museum's operations stretches far beyond the borders of Blasieholmen, the nationalmuseum manage the National Portrait gallery collection at Gripshom, Gustavsbergporclain museum, a handful of castle collections and the Swedish Institute in Paris (Institut Tessin). In the summer of 2018 Nationalmuseum Jamtli opened in Östersund as a way to show a part of the collection in the north of Sweden.The museum's benefactors include King Gustav III and Carl Gustaf Tessin. The museum was founded in 1792 as Kungliga Museet ("Royal Museum"). The present building was opened in 1866, when it was renamed the Nationalmuseum, and used as one of the buildings to hold the 1866 General Industrial Exposition of Stockholm. The current building, built between 1844 and 1866, was inspired by North Italian Renaissance architecture. It is the design of the German architect Friedrich August Stüler, who also designed the Neues Museum in Berlin. The relatively closed exterior, gives no hint of the spacious interior dominated by the huge flight of stairs leading up to the topmost galleries. The museum was enlarged in 1961 to accommodate the museum workshops. The present restaurant was instated in 1996. The museum building closed for renovation in 2013 and reopened on 13 October 2018. The $132 million overhaul sought to put more of the museum’s collection on display and to match the security, accessibility, fire safety and climate control of a modern institution.

The Nationalmuseum robbery was the robbery of three paintings worth a combined total of $30–45 million USD from the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Sweden, on 22 December 2000. The stolen paintings were a self-portrait by Rembrandt and two Renoir paintings, Conversation and Young Parisian. The paintings have been recovered.

Bredgränd (Swedish: Wide Alley) is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Skeppsbron to Österlånggatan, it forms a parallel street to Skeppar Karls Gränd and Kråkgränd.

Skeppar Karls Gränd (Swedish: "Skipper Karl's Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Skeppsbron to Österlånggatan, it forms a parallel street to Telegrafgränd and Bredgränd.

Sillhovet is a city block in central Stockholm. It lies on Blasieholmen close to the National museum and was built in the 1700s.

Kråkgränd (Swedish: "Crow Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching between Skeppsbron and Österlånggatan, it forms a parallel street to Bredgränd and Nygränd. The alley is named after Knut Nilsson Kråka, who in 1608 was promoted to become one of the 48 Elders of the city and in 1615 became a magistrate. He failed to deliver taxes required however and was subsequently relieved of his duties in 1623 and died as a custom officer by the southern gate in 1625.

Brunnsgränd (Swedish: "Well Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting Skeppsbron to Österlånggatan, it forms a parallel street to Nygränd and Skottgränd. It is the widest alley in the old town.The alley, mentioned as brundzgrenden in 1526, is named after a water well mentioned in 1461, when a blacksmith named Henrik was paid for having "forged on the well on 'Fisherman's Square'" (smidat till brunnen på Fiskaretorget). Historically, wells in cities were located in open spaces, and, oddly enough, neither a well or a square can be found near the present alley. During the Middle Ages and until the 1520s, however, a square called Fisketorget was found between Brunnsgränd and the alley north of it, Nygränd ("New Alley"), at the time the biggest in Stockholm connected to the central square Stortorget ("The Big Square") through Köpmangatan ("The Merchant's Street"). In the early 19th century, the well could still be found in the western end of the alley, but it has since been surrounded by buildings. Occasionally, the alley's name is erroneously associated with a fountain from 1912, located on Österlånggatan, under the statue of Saint George and the Dragon.

Stora Hoparegränd is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting Skeppsbron to Österlånggatan, it forms a parallel street to Skottgränd and Drakens gränd. It appears in historical records as Mechiill hopares grennd (1550), Hopers grändh (1578), Michel Hopers grendh (1582) and St. Hopare gr[änd] (1733).Hoparegränd is named after a Michel Hoper (or Hopare) who owned a property in the alley during the first half of the 16th century. Hoper's widow, Brita, handed the property over to the husband of her niece in 1566 in exchange for sustenance. The name is of Dutch or Frisian origin, and as a surname it gives an indication of a profession, hooper (e.g. maker of barrels).A film, Stora Hoparegränd och himmelriket ("Stora Hoparegränd and Heaven") was released in 1949.

Old names Niia grenden (1553), Nygrenden (1570)Until the early 1520s, a fish market (Fisketorget, "The Fisherman's Square") was located between the site of the present alley and the alley south of it, Brunnsgränd, the square at the time forming a natural continuation to Köpmangatan ("The Merchant's Street"), the street leading east from the central square Stortorget.One of the old town's most elaborate portals is found on 2, Nygränd. Telegrafgränd (Swedish: "Telegraph Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Skeppsbron to Österlånggatan, it is a parallel street to Slottsbacken and Skeppar Karls Gränd.

Fisketorget (Swedish: "Fishery Square") or Fiskaretorget ("Fishermen's Square") is a historical public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. It was once located on the east shore of the island Stadsholmen, between the present streets Österlånggatan and Skeppsbron, and between the present alleys Nygränd ("New Alley") and Brunnsgränd ("Well's Alley"). As Stockholm grew rapidly during the 14th century, the city within the city walls became cramped for space, and the surrounding shores started to be built upon and subsequently by land fillings between the bridges extended into the water. Thus, elongated blocks appeared between narrow alleys along the eastern shore of the city, with the exception of the area outside the only eastern city gate — the so-called Köpmanporten ("Merchant's Gate") which extended Köpmangatan ("Merchant's Street) from the city's central square, Stortorget ("Large Square"), beyond the city wall over Köpmanbrinken. Originally, the marketplace was called Fiskestrand ("Fishery Shore") and also encompassed a section of the shoreline stretching north up to the present alley Skeppar Karls Gränd.From 1413, the square was probably flanked by two defensive towers, some major building featuring stepped gables, and several one-storey buildings. In 1461, a blacksmith named Henrik is mentioned as having forged on a water well on the square, at the time the biggest in Stockholm. The well eventually gave the southern alley its name and was still found in the alley until the 19th century. The square was, however, was started to be built upon during the early 1520s, which eventually led to the present block on the location, Diana, which still contains the well.
