Balloërveld or Ballooërveld (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌbɑ.loː.ərˈvɛlt]) is a hamlet in the municipality of Aa en Hunze in the province of Drenthe in the Netherlands. Balloërveld owes its name to the nearby village of Balloo. The hamlet is located on the old main road Loon - Gasteren, on the edge of the Drentsche Aa National Landscape. In 2023, 14 people lived in the hamlet. The hamlet has its own zip code. South of the town is the eponymous Balloërveld nature reserve, known for its sand drifts and peat lakes.

Taarlo is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 5 km northeast of Assen. The village was first mentioned in 820 as Arlo. The etymology is unclear. Taarlo is an esdorp to the south of Tynaarlo. It has a triangular brink (village square) with a pond which was used as a water supply.Taarlo was home to 73 people in 1840.

It was first mentioned in 1460 as "Johan Scheuen ... buur to Anrepe". The etymology is unclear. In 1840, it was home to 16 people.

The area "Nijlande", which also includes the nearby countryside, has a population of around 60. The hamlet was first mentioned in 1634 as Nyelande, and means "new land". Nijlande is an esdorp which developed on cultivated land as a satellite of Rolde. Nijlande was home to 51 people in 1840.

Rolde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɔldə] ) is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Located in the municipality of Aa en Hunze, it lies about 6 km (3.7 mi) east of Assen. In 2021, Rolde had a population of 3,905.

Oudemolen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo. Historically, the hamlet of Oude Molen was almost solely owned by the Linthorst Homan family, who have always held close ties with the towns population. The Linthorst Homan family rebuilt the windmill in the 19th century. The village was first mentioned in 1498 as "de molner ter Oldenmolen", and means old wind mill. Oudemolen was home to 24 people in 1840.

Anreep is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Assen municipality in Drenthe. Anreep is a statistical entity with Schieven, however the postal authority have placed it under Assen. It was first mentioned in 1217 as Anrepe and means "higher piece of land near water". The hamlet is located outside of the build-up area. In 1815, it became part of the municipality of Assen. In 1840, Anreep had 42 inhabitants.

The Molen van Rolde is a smock mill in Rolde, Drenthe, the Netherlands. The mill was built in 1873 and is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 32698.

Assen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑsən] ; abbreviation: Asn) is a railway station located in Assen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1870 and is located on the Meppel–Groningen railway. The station is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. A new station building was opened in 2020, featuring a large wooden triangular roof with windows allowing light down to the indoor spaces and platforms, replacing the previous building from 1988. From 1902 until 1947 there was also a railway line to Gasselternijveen, where trains connected to the railway line to Stadskanaal.

Assen (Dutch: [ˈɑsə(n)] ) is a municipality and a city in the northeastern Netherlands, and is the capital of the province of Drenthe. It received city rights in 1809. Assen is known for TT Circuit Assen, the motorcycle racing circuit, where on the last Sunday in June the Dutch TT is run; and also for the annual Assen Dance Festival.
