The Floriade 2012 was a Dutch horticultural exposition held in Venlo, Netherlands. It was the sixth Floriade and was held from April 5 to October 7, 2012. The Floriade 2012 was opened by Queen Beatrix. The exposition's theme and slogan was "Be part of the theatre in nature; get closer to the quality of life".

Grubbenvorst (Limburgish: Grevors) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Horst aan de Maas, about 6 km northwest of Venlo.

Melderslo is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Horst aan de Maas. The village was first mentioned in the 15th century Meldersloe, and either means "forest of Madalhêr (person)" or "forest belonging to Meerlo".Melderslo was home to 301 people in 1840. On 26 May 1943, an Avro Lancaster was hit by Flak and crashed near Melderslo killing five of the crew member. A monument is located at the crash site. Museum De Locht is a museum for products produced in the region. In 1993, it was extended with the National Asparagus and Champignon.

Blerick is a railway station located in Blerick, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1868 and is located on the Venlo–Eindhoven railway and the Nijmegen–Venlo railway. The station is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva. The station has four platforms.

Blerick (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbleːrɪk]; Limburgish: Bliërik [ˈbliəʀɪk]; 51°22′N 6°9′E) is a city district of the Dutch municipality of Venlo. It lies on the west bank of the Meuse and its origin goes back to the Roman era as a military stronghold and settlement en route from Mosa Trajectum (Maastricht) to Noviomagus (Nijmegen). Blerick can be found on the Peutinger Table as Blariacum. Up to the second world war Blerick formed together with Baarlo and Maasbree one municipality. Under German rule Blerick became part of the municipality of Venlo. In 2001, Blerick had 25875 inhabitants. The built-up area of the city district was 7.27 km², and contained 10866 residences.

Fort Sint-Michiel is a vanished, originally Spanish fort, situated in Venlo, the Netherlands, and is named after the archangel Michael. Construction of this fort started in 1641 on Michaelmas, September 29.

Venlo ([ˈvɛnloː] ) is a city and municipality in the southeastern Netherlands, close to the border with Germany. It is situated in the province of Limburg. The municipality of Venlo counted 101,578 inhabitants as of January 2019.

The siege of Venlo was an important siege in the Eighty Years' War that lasted from 20 to 25 August 1637. The Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand of Austria, Governor of the Spanish Netherlands, retook the city of Venlo from the United Provinces, which had taken control of it in 1632 during the offensive of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange against Maastricht. The capture of Venlo and Roermond, which was surrendered to the Cardinal-Infante a week later, effectively cut Maastricht from the Dutch Republic, thus preventing further attacks on the Spanish Netherlands from the east. In the southern front Ferdinand lost the towns of La Capelle, Landrecies, and Damvillers to the French, but then he forced them to retreat south of Maubeuge.
