The school's motto is "Scientia Pacifica" (peace through knowledge). La Jolla Country Day School was voted the best private school in San Diego in 2007 by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a non-profit research organization located in La Jolla, California. It is located in UC San Diego’s Research Park. The Institute researches immunology and immune system diseases. The Institute employs 220 M.D.s and Ph.D.s, including 23 faculty members and more than 450 employees. Dr. Mitchell Kronenberg has served as its president and scientific director since 2003. The institute was founded in 1988.La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a collaborative research organization that has forged many partnerships within the research community in San Diego, across the United States, and abroad. The institute's biomedical research facility covers 145,000 square feet inclusive of specialized research rooms suited for all aspects of molecular and cellular biology.

Executive Drive is a San Diego Trolley station in San Diego, California, located near the intersection of Executive Drive and Genesee Avenue. The station began service on November 21, 2021 on the Blue Line; it was constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.

KHHS-LP (107.5 FM) was a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to San Diego, California, United States, the station was owned by Horizon Christian Fellowship.Horizon Christian Fellowship surrendered the station's license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on June 19, 2015. The FCC cancelled KHHS-LP's license on June 22, 2015.

The Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center is the region's only NCI-designated Cancer Center in La Jolla, California, part of UC San Diego Health and affiliated with the University of California San Diego. It is supported, in part, by the National Cancer Institute.

UTC Transit Center is a San Diego Trolley station and transportation hub in the University City district of San Diego, California. It is located at University Towne Center (UTC), the outdoor shopping mall after which the station is named. The station's elevated trolley platform is served by the Blue Line, and stands above Genesee Avenue at its intersection with Esplanade Court. Its at-grade bus plaza is built into the lower level of one of the mall's parking structures that includes 333 spaces that can be used by transit customers who pay an hourly fee. Bus service began at the transit center on October 27, 2017 & trolley service began 4 years later on November 21, 2021, as the new terminus of the Blue Line; it was constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.The FlixBus boards from a different part of the mall, in front of the Pirch San Diego store.

Westfield UTC (formerly known as University Towne Centre) is an open-air shopping mall located in the University City community of San Diego, California built in 1977. It lies just east of La Jolla, near the University of California, San Diego campus. It is owned – except for the ex-Sears parcel – by the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. Its anchors include Macy's, Nordstrom and a 14-screen AMC Theatres. The mall is served by the University Towne Center station, which is the northern terminus of the Blue Line of the San Diego Trolley.

The Preuss School, Preuss School UCSD, or Preuss Model School is a coeducational college-preparatory charter day school established on a $14 million campus situated on the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus in La Jolla, California, United States. The school was named in recognition of a gift from the Preuss Family Foundation and is chartered under the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD).Founded in 1999 in the wake of passage of California Proposition 209, Preuss uses an intensive college preparatory curriculum to educate low-income students between sixth and twelfth grades, hoping to improve their historical under-representation on the campuses of the University of California. Criteria for admission include that the student's primary guardian lacks a college education and that the student's family qualifies for federal free- or reduced-price lunches under the National School Lunch Act.The school, which charges no tuition, has received a six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, has been evaluated as a National Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School, and has been named by The Center of Education Reform as one of the top charter schools in America and by the University of Southern California Center for Educational Governance as the top charter school in California. Between 2007 and 2012 Preuss has consistently been listed among the top 50 American high schools by both Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report. Preuss has also been noted for sending a high percentage ( 96% ) of its graduates to four-year universities.

UC San Diego Health La Jolla is a San Diego Trolley station located on the UC San Diego East Campus, which includes the UC San Diego Health La Jolla campus of hospitals and medical facilities. The station is elevated just south of Voigt Drive at Campus Point Drive and is nearby to the Preuss School, the Jacobs Medical Center hospital, the Moores Cancer Center, and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. It opened on November 21, 2021 as a new station on the Blue Line, constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.

Jacobs Medical Center is a teaching hospital on the University of California, San Diego campus in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego. Along with the UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest, it serves as a flagship hospital of UC San Diego Health and the primary teaching hospital for the UC San Diego School of Medicine. The facility, which offers specialized care not previously available in San Diego County, opened in 2016. Jacobs Medical Center comprises three specialty pavilions. The A. Vassiliadis Family Pavilion for Advanced Surgery occupies floors two and three. Floors four through six are reserved for the Pauline and Stanley Foster Pavilion for Cancer Care, and the eighth through tenth floors are occupied by the Rady Pavilion for Women and Infants. Jacobs Medical Center and the existing Thornton Pavilion share a first, second and third floor and are connected to Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, the Perlman Medical Offices, and the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute building via footbridges.

University City (UC) is a community in San Diego, California, located in the northwestern portion of the city next to the University of California, San Diego. University City is bordered by La Jolla and Interstate 5 to the west, Miramar and Interstate 805 to the east, and North Clairemont and Highway 52 to the south, giving the community a triangular-shaped boundary. University City is a part of District 1, which is represented by Councilmember Joe LaCava on the San Diego City Council. The commercial real estate market refers to roughly this area as the UTC submarket. Together with adjacent commercial areas along I-5 and I-805, University City forms part of San Diego's "North City Edge City", the largest such concentration in the county.
