University City, San Diego

Westfield UTC (formerly known as University Towne Centre) is an open-air shopping mall located in the University City community of San Diego, California built in 1977. It lies just east of La Jolla, near the University of California, San Diego campus. It is owned – except for the ex-Sears parcel – by the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. Its anchors include Macy's, Nordstrom and a 14-screen AMC Theatres. The mall is served by the University Towne Center station, which is the northern terminus of the Blue Line of the San Diego Trolley.

Congregation Beth Israel' (Hebrew: בית ישראל) is a Reform synagogue located at 9001 Towne Centre Drive in San Diego, California. Formally incorporated in 1887, Beth Israel traces its roots back to 1861. It is San Diego's largest and oldest Jewish congregation.

UTC Transit Center is a San Diego Trolley station and transportation hub in the University City district of San Diego, California. It is located at University Towne Center (UTC), the outdoor shopping mall after which the station is named. The station's elevated trolley platform is served by the Blue Line, and stands above Genesee Avenue at its intersection with Esplanade Court. Its at-grade bus plaza is built into the lower level of one of the mall's parking structures that includes 333 spaces that can be used by transit customers who pay an hourly fee. Bus service began at the transit center on October 27, 2017 & trolley service began 4 years later on November 21, 2021, as the new terminus of the Blue Line; it was constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.The FlixBus boards from a different part of the mall, in front of the Pirch San Diego store.

Executive Drive is a San Diego Trolley station in San Diego, California, located near the intersection of Executive Drive and Genesee Avenue. The station began service on November 21, 2021 on the Blue Line; it was constructed as part of the Mid-Coast Trolley extension project.

Licensed to San Diego, California, United States, the station was owned by Horizon Christian Fellowship.Horizon Christian Fellowship surrendered the station's license to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on June 19, 2015. The FCC cancelled KHHS-LP's license on June 22, 2015.

The San Diego Jewish Film Festival (SDJFF) is an annual eleven-day-long film festival held in San Diego, California. Established in 1990, the festival is managed by the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture, at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in La Jolla. The festival usually consists of around fifty narrative, documentary, and short films, often with post-film audience discussions with the filmmakers. The San Diego Jewish Film Festival "aims to educate and illuminate audiences by offering an array of films that depict elements of the Jewish life, history, and culture in challenging, moving, and humorous ways as never seen before." As of 2020, the festival had been operating for 30 years."The mission of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival is to offer outstanding world cinema that promotes awareness, appreciation and pride in the diversity of the Jewish people to attendees of the community at large. Festival programs aim to educate and illuminate through evocative, independent fiction and documentary films that portray the Jewish experience from current to historic global perspectives." The festival draws more than 40,000 ticket holders at five theaters throughout San Diego County: AMC La Jolla 12 Theatres, Carlsbad Village Theater. San Marcos Edwards Stadium 18, and the David and Dorothea Garfield Theater.Hitting a landmark 25th Silver Anniversary year in 2015, the San Diego Jewish Film Festival currently shows over 48 feature films, 40 short films, and 20 special guests.

La Jolla Country Day School (known informally as "Country Day" or "LJCDS") is an independent school in University City, a community of San Diego, California. The school contains a lower school (consisting of nursery through fourth grade), a middle school (grades 5–8), and an upper school (grades 9–12). The school's motto is "Scientia Pacifica" (peace through knowledge). La Jolla Country Day School was voted the best private school in San Diego in 2007 by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

University City High School (UCHS) is a comprehensive four-year public high school located in the University City section of San Diego, California, United States. It is part of the San Diego Unified School District. The school opened in September 1981. The school was ranked 222nd in 2008 and 297th in 2009 on Newsweek's list of Best U.S. Public High Schools. In 2013, The Washington Post ranked the school as the 602nd most challenging high school in America.

La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a non-profit research organization located in La Jolla, California. It is located in UC San Diego’s Research Park. The Institute researches immunology and immune system diseases. The Institute employs 220 M.D.s and Ph.D.s, including 23 faculty members and more than 450 employees. Dr. Mitchell Kronenberg has served as its president and scientific director since 2003. The institute was founded in 1988.La Jolla Institute for Immunology is a collaborative research organization that has forged many partnerships within the research community in San Diego, across the United States, and abroad. The institute's biomedical research facility covers 145,000 square feet inclusive of specialized research rooms suited for all aspects of molecular and cellular biology.

The San Diego F/A-18 crash was the crash of a United States Marine Corps (USMC) F/A-18 Hornet in a residential area of San Diego, California on December 8, 2008. The pilot, First Lieutenant Dan Neubauer (28) from VMFAT-101, was the only crewmember on board the two-seat aircraft; he ejected successfully, landing in a tree. The jet crashed into the University City residential area, destroying two houses and damaging a third. A total of four residents in one house, two adults and two children, were killed. A USMC investigation concluded that poor maintenance caused the engine malfunction. Errors by the pilot and USMC personnel on the ground led to the aircraft crashing into the San Diego residential neighborhood. As a result, in early 2009 the pilot was temporarily grounded and thirteen other officers and enlisted personnel were relieved and/or disciplined. The Marine Corps notified other F/A-18 squadrons of the engine and fuel problems discovered during the investigation.

The Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center is the region's only NCI-designated Cancer Center in La Jolla, California, part of UC San Diego Health and affiliated with the University of California San Diego. It is supported, in part, by the National Cancer Institute.

The Preuss School, Preuss School UCSD, or Preuss Model School is a coeducational college-preparatory charter day school established on a $14 million campus situated on the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus in La Jolla, California, United States. The school was named in recognition of a gift from the Preuss Family Foundation and is chartered under the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD).Founded in 1999 in the wake of passage of California Proposition 209, Preuss uses an intensive college preparatory curriculum to educate low-income students between sixth and twelfth grades, hoping to improve their historical under-representation on the campuses of the University of California.
