Kansas City USD 500, also known as Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, is a public unified school district headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas, United States. As of 2021, it has approximately 23,690 students enrolled in the district in grades PreK & K-12. The district currently operates 5 high schools, 7 middle schools, and 29 elementary schools and 4 alternative schools. The district has a number of additional educational and support facilities.

F. L. Schlagle High School is a fully accredited, public high school located in Kansas City, Kansas, United States. It serves students in grades 9 to 12 and is operated by the Kansas City USD 500 school district. The principal is Yolanda Thompson. The mascot is the Stallion and the school colors are blue, white, and gold.

The K-32 Turner Bridge was a bridge that crossed the Kansas River during its almost 60 mile journey through Kansas City, and Topeka. It first opened in 1955 as a two lane steel through-truss bridge. In 2001, the bridge was torn down, due to its major superstructure problems, and with the growing area, could no longer handle the traffic flow as a two lane. By late 2002, the through-truss was gone, and a new five lane girder was in place. The bridge now carries two lanes of eastbound traffic, and three lanes westbound. The Turner Bridge marks the beginning of the Turner Diagonal.The first bridge in the area called the "Turner Bridge" was designed and announced in 1898. The first bridge was a steel bridge with three spans and had an estimated cost of $60,000 to build.There is as boat ramp located at the bridge site. The Trowbridge Archaeological Site is located in the vicinity of North 61st Street and Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas. Discovered in 1939 by amateur archaeologist Harry Trowbridge in his backyard, it was inhabited c. AD 200–600 by the Kansas City Hopewell culture.: 1, 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 24, 1971, and placed on the Register of Historic Kansas Places on July 1, 1977.: 1

The Interstate 635 Bridge is an automobile crossing of the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas. The bridge was built in 1976, and work to rebuild it started 2003, and finished by 2005. During the rebuild process, the bridge underwent repairs, was resurfaced, and the girder beams were replaced in some places.

Muncie is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas on the north bank of the Kansas River. Rail lines run through it. The area derives its name from the Munsee (tribe) which was part of the Algonquian speaking Delaware (tribe). Reverend Jesse Vogler and John Kilbuck, and 72 Christianized Munsee Indians, came to the area aboard the St. Peters. The Munsee Moravian Mission was located in the Westfield settlement.On December 8, 1874, the James-Younger Gang are believed to have robbed a Kansas Pacific Railroad there of $30,000. Grinter Place in the Grinter Heights neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places. A ferry that was used on the military route between Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Fort Scott, Kansas crossed the river here.

It was the successor-in-interest to Campbell College in Holton (which in turn had been the successor-in-interest to Lane University in Lecompton). In 1906, newspapers noted that the college president D. S. Stephens spoke in favor of a controversial merger between the United Brethren and Methodist church conferences.The university was based out of Mather Hall, a large brick and mortar building that held the school's library, administrative offices, and numerous classrooms. Today, the building is still standing and is owned by the Central States Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, who use the building as a conference and retreat center.
