Westenesch is a hamlet in the Netherlands and it is part of the Emmen municipality in Drenthe. There are two dolmen in Westenesch.

Emmen Zuid is a railway station located in Emmen, Netherlands, on the Zwolle–Emmen railway. The services are operated by Arriva. There is a tunnel under the railway line for the road and cycle path. Near the station is a car park and bus station. The station opened on 3 April 2011 and replaced Emmen Bargeres railway station. Construction work for the station began in March 2010. Formerly, there was a level crossing at the station location.

Emmermeer is a neighbourhood of the city of Emmen in Drenthe, the Netherlands. It was a former lake near Emmen.

Emmen Bargeres is a former railway station located in Emmen, Netherlands. It was open from 1 June 1975 until 3 April 2011 and was located on the Emmerlijn (Zwolle - Emmen). The station was operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station was replaced by Emmen Zuid railway station, at another location on the same line. The station was elevated over a single track bridge over the N391 road.

Wildlands, also known as Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen, is a zoo in Emmen, the Netherlands. It opened in March 2016, replacing the Emmen Zoo. It was built at a cost of 200 million euros. Upon its reorganisation the zoo increased in size and animal exhibit space but reduced its collection from 300 to about 100 species.Wildlands is an zoo with four main areas: Jungola, Serenga, Nortica and Animazia. Jungola is jungle-themed and displays butterflies, tropical birds, large reptiles (such as Chinese alligators and pythons), ring-tailed lemurs, lar gibbons, small-clawed otters and Asian elephants. The most prominent feature of Jungola is the indoor tropical rainforest hall Rimbula, which at 18,000 m2 (190,000 sq ft) is the largest zoo jungle hall in the world and the largest greenhouse in Europe. Serenga is the African savanna section and is home to species such as lion, Grant's zebras, Rothschild's giraffes, white rhinoceros and hamadryas baboons, but also Australian red-necked wallabies. Nortica is aimed at cold oceans and is home to polar bear, Californian sea lion, South American fur seal and Humboldt penguin. The final main section, Animazia, is a large indoor playground, but also home to an aquarium with species such as corals, green sea turtles and tropical fish.

Dierenpark Emmen (also known as Noorder Dierenpark) was a large zoo located in Emmen in the northern province of Drenthe in the Netherlands. Due to financial difficulties the zoo decided in 2011 to reorganise. It closed at the end of 2015, but reopened early 2016 on another location as Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen.

Emmen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɛmə(n)] ) is a municipality and town of the province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands.

Zuidbarge is a neighbourhood and former village of Emmen in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The windmill Zeldenrust has been restored and is open to the public. Zuidbarge was first mentioned in the 1416 as tot Zuytbarge. The name means the southern hill to distinguish itself from Noordbarge. In 1840, it was home to 205 people. In 1978, the village was annexed by neighbouring Emmen, and has become a neighbourhood.

Barger-Erfscheidenveen is a hamlet in the Netherlands and it is part of the Emmen municipality in Drenthe. Barger-Erfscheidenveen is a statistical entity, however the postal authorities have placed it under Nieuw-Amsterdam. It was first mentioned in the 1850 as Het Erfscheiden Veen. The current name translates to "bog property boundaty of Barge". In 1904, a school was established. In 1932, it was home to 512 people. In 1985, the school closed. A part of the hamlet has been demolished during the construction of the A37 motorway.

Emmen is a terminus railway station located in Emmen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 November 1905 and is located on the Zwolle–Emmen railway. Train services are operated by Arriva. The line continues for a short distance to a headshunt where trains can wait before returning, formerly the line continued onwards in a northerly direction with stations at Weerdinge, Exloo and Buinen, to a junction with the now closed line between Assen and Stadskanaal at Gasselternijveen. This closed in the late 1950s with the exception of a short freight only section from Gasselternijveen to Buinen which closed at the same time as Assen - Stadskanaal (early 1960s). Although the tracks have been removed, the remains of the track beds of both lines are still visible in the landscape. There are plans to reinstate the section between Emmen and Stadskanaal (and from there, connecting to the train to Veendam and Groningen).
