Sint-Jansbeek

Sonsbeek is an outdoor sculpture exhibition series founded in 1949, that takes place intermittently in Park Sonsbeek in Arnhem, the Netherlands. It was originally intended as a biennial exhibition, although that format has since been abandoned. Subsequent editions were organized in 1971, 1986, 1993, 2001, 2008, and 2016. The exhibition's most recent edition, Force Times Distance: On Labor and Its Sonic Ecologies, opened in October 2021 and will be on view through 2024. Due to the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the first iteration of the Sonsbeek show that will remain on view for four years.

Royal Burgers' Zoo (Dutch: Koninklijke Burgers' Zoo) is a 45-hectare (110-acre) zoo in Arnhem, Netherlands, and is one of the biggest zoos in the country. Arnhem is a city that lies within the Veluwe, a nature park in the east of the Netherlands. The zoo is popular with both Dutch and German people, and receives about 1 million visitors annually. It was founded by Johan Burgers in 1913. The zoo is a member of the Dutch Zoo Federation (NVD), the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), the International Species Information System (ISIS), and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).

Museum Arnhem (formerly known as Gemeentemuseum Arnhem and then Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem) is a museum of modern art, contemporary art, applied art and design in Arnhem, Netherlands, with art from the 20th century. The museum reopened its doors on 13 May 2022 after a major renovation that lasted more than four years. Previous directors have included Liesbeth Brandt Corstius.

ArtEZ University of Arts (Dutch: ArtEZ hogeschool voor de kunsten) is an art academy in Netherlands. ArtEZ combines several art institutes and art disciplines with branches in Arnhem, Enschede, and Zwolle. In its name the A stands for Arnhem, the E for Enschede, and Z for Zwolle.

Arnhem Centraal railway station is the largest railway station in the city of Arnhem in Gelderland, Netherlands. It was opened on 14 May 1845 and is located on the Amsterdam–Arnhem railway, the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway and the Arnhem–Nijmegen railway. The station opened at the same time as the Amsterdam–Arnhem railway, that continues into Germany via the Oberhausen–Arnhem railway. The station is the main station of Arnhem, and at present, has around 40,000 passengers that use the station per day, this makes it the 9th busiest station in the Netherlands. The main building has a surface of 18,000 m2 and a volume of 76,000 m3, the building has a capacity of 110.000 transfers per day.

Het Dorp is a neighborhood or village in the Netherlands near Arnhem. The phrase "het dorp" literally means "the village". Open Het Dorp was a TV telethon in November 1962, which raised funds to construct the village.

A hollow post mill at the Netherlands Open Air Museum, Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands was originally built at Wormer, North Holland, Netherlands. During World War I, it was moved to Langweer, Friesland. It was dismantled in 1960 and re-erected at the museum in 1989. The mill has been restored to working order.

The Battle of Arnhem was a battle of the Second World War at the vanguard of the Allied Operation Market Garden. It was fought in and around the Dutch city of Arnhem, the town of Oosterbeek, the villages Wolfheze and Driel and the vicinity from 17 to 26 September 1944. The Allies were poised to enter the Netherlands after sweeping through France and Belgium in the summer of 1944, after the Battle of Normandy. Operation Market Garden was proposed by Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery, who favoured a single push northwards over the branches of the Lower Rhine River, allowing the British Second Army to bypass the Siegfried Line and attack the Ruhr. US Airborne troops were dropped in the Netherlands to secure bridges and towns along the line of the Allied advance. Farthest north, the British 1st Airborne Division landed at Arnhem to capture bridges across the Nederrijn (Lower Rhine), supported by men of the Glider Pilot Regiment and the 1st Polish Parachute Brigade. The British XXX Corps were expected to reach the British airborne forces in two to three days. The 1st Airborne Division landed some distance from its objectives and was hampered by unexpected resistance, especially from elements of the 9th and 10th SS Panzer Divisions. Only a small force was able to reach the Arnhem road bridge while the advance of the main body of the division was stopped on the outskirts of the town. XXX Corps was unable to advance north from Nijmegen in the Battle of Nijmegen as quickly as planned and the British airborne troops were not relieved according to schedule. After four days, the small British force at the bridge was overwhelmed and the rest of the division trapped in a small pocket north of the river. The paratroops could not be sufficiently reinforced by the Poles or XXX Corps when they arrived on the southern bank, nor by Royal Air Force supply flights. After nine days of fighting, the remnants of the division were withdrawn in Operation Berlin. The Allies were unable to advance further with no secure bridges over the Nederrijn and the front line stabilised south of Arnhem. The 1st Airborne Division lost nearly three quarters of its strength and did not see combat again.

Mijn Genoegen (English: My Pleasure) is a paltrok mill in the Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands which has been restored to working order. As are all Dutch paltrok mills, it is a wind-powered sawmill.

The Netherlands Open Air Museum (Dutch: Nederlands Openluchtmuseum) is a national open-air museum located in Arnhem. It focuses on the culture associated with the everyday lives of ordinary people, and demonstrating the old way of life in the Netherlands. The park was established on 24 April 1912, and opened to the public in July 1918.
