Kane County is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 516,522, making it the fifth-most populous county in Illinois. Its county seat is Geneva, and its largest city is Aurora. Kane County is one of the collar counties of the metropolitan statistical area designated "Chicago–Naperville–Elgin, IL–IN–WI" by the US census.

Wasco is a former unincorporated community that became part of the village of Campton Hills, Illinois, when it was formed in 2007. Wasco is in Kane County, 40 miles (64 km) west of Chicago. It has a post office (ZIP Code 60183), a few restaurants, and an elementary school. The community is located along Illinois Route 64 approximately 4 miles (6 km) west of St. Charles and is at the center of the village of Campton Hills. The area outside the downtown section is mostly residential homes, spanning several blocks.

Lily Lake is a small rural village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The town is 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Elgin and 50 miles (80 km) west of Chicago. The village is in the far western part the Chicago metro area. It was incorporated as a village on November 6, 1990. The population was 1,032 at the 2020 census, up from 993 in 2010.

The Garfield Farm and Inn Museum is a Registered Historic Place in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The property is a 375-acre (1.52 km2) farmstead, centered on an inn that served teamsters and the nearby community during the 1840s. It is currently a museum offering a variety of educational and entertainment events. The buildings that remain are three original 1840s structures, including the 1842 hay and grain barn, the 1849 horse barn, and the 1846 inn. Various other barns and outbuildings also stand, the last dated to 1906.Garfield Farm & Tavern Museum is the only historically intact Illinois prairie farmstead and former teamsters' inn being restored by donors and volunteers from over 3500 households in 37 states as an 1840s living history farm and inn museum.

Corron Farm is a historic farm at 7N761 Corron Road in rural Campton Township, Kane County, Illinois. Robert Corron, who was one of Kane County's first settlers, claimed the farm in 1835 and gradually purchased its land from the government over the 1840s. Corron and his family originally lived in a log cabin on the site, but in the early 1850s they built a brick farmhouse; the house's design blends elements of the Italianate and Early Classical Revival styles. The farm also has a workers' house from the 1880s with an I-house plan, a common vernacular type in the Midwest at the time. Other buildings on the farm include a dairy barn with a silo, a horse barn, a hog house, a chicken coop and feed house, a milk house, and two corn cribs.The farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 21, 2018.

Elburn is a station on Metra's Union Pacific West Line located in Elburn, Illinois. The station is the western terminus of the West Line. The station is 43.8 miles (70.5 km) away from Ogilvie Transportation Center along the railroad tracks. Elburn station opened on January 23, 2006, when the West Line was extended from Geneva. The station is located at ground level. A large coach yard is located just east of the station. As of 2018, Elburn is the 137th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 336 weekday boardings.As of May 30, 2023, Elburn is served by 47 trains (23 inbound, 24 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. All Metra trains that operate this far west originate, or terminate, at Elburn. The first station in Elburn was established in 1854 with the arrival of the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad. This later merged into the Chicago and North Western Railway (C&NW) and was on the Omaha–Chicago main line. The C&NW eventually merged into the Union Pacific Railroad, the current operator of the line, in 1995.

La Fox is the penultimate station on Metra's Union Pacific West Line, located in La Fox, Illinois, an unincorporated area in Kane County, Illinois. The station is 41.1 miles (66.1 km) away from Ogilvie Transportation Center, the eastern terminus of the West Line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, La Fox is in zone I. As of 2018, La Fox is the 146th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 295 weekday boardings. Unless otherwise announced, inbound trains use the north (island) platform and outbound trains use the south (side) platform. The northernmost track, despite being adjacent to the island platform, is used exclusively by freight trains. As of May 30, 2023, La Fox is served by 49 trains (25 inbound, 24 outbound) on weekdays, by all 20 trains (10 in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. On weekdays, two inbound trains originate here, and three outbound trains terminate here. La Fox was originally served by the Chicago and North Western Railway on its main line from Chicago to Omaha, Nebraska. A station was located at the crossing of La Fox Road and the tracks, and closed in 1954.La Fox station is located at ground level and consists of two platforms, one side, and one island. Three tracks run through the station, and all tracks are served by a platform. There is an unstaffed shelter next to the south track. La Fox has no bus connections. It is next door to the Potter and Barker Grain Elevator. Inbound Metra trains to Chicago either use the south track or the middle track, depending on the time of day. Outbound Metra trains to Elburn use the south track. During rush hours, out-of-service Metra trains bypass the station on their way to the Elburn rail yard. La Fox is one of three Metra stations named after an unincorporated area along with Ingleside and Prairie View. The station serves La Fox, Campton Hills, Wasco, Kaneville, and parts of Geneva, Illinois.

The Potter and Barker Grain Elevator is a historic grain elevator located at 1N298 La Fox Road in La Fox, Illinois. It is situated next to the La Fox station. The elevator was built in 1868 by former whaling ship captain Lemuel Potter and his brother-in-law Henry Barker. Part of a wave of industrial development in the Fox Valley, it served as a transfer point for grain being shipped along the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad (later the Chicago & Northwestern Railway and now Union Pacific Railroad). The elevator represents an intermediate point in the transition from one-story rural elevators to taller, mechanized second stage elevators. Its small capacity is typical of the older one-story elevators, but it includes mechanized systems of unloading and raising grain common to later structures.The elevator was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 27, 2016.

Elburn is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,602 as of the 2010 census, up from 2,756 at the 2000 census. It is located at the intersection of Illinois Route 38 and Route 47. Elburn is a town situated 46 miles (74 km) west of the Chicago Loop with frequent commuter rail service from its Metra station at the end of the Union Pacific West Line.
