Advocate Sherman Hospital

Teeple Barn was a historic structure in Elgin, Illinois. It was a sixteen-sided barn designed by W. Wright Abell for Lester Teeple, a dairy farmer. In 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the only surviving sixteen-sided barn in Illinois. The barn was destroyed on May 27, 2007, following a storm. It was delisted from the National Register in 2020.

Big Timber Road is a commuter railroad station in the Kane County portion of Elgin, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. The station is the western terminus of Metra's Milwaukee District West Line. It is 39.8 miles (64.1 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the eastern terminus of the line. In Metra’s zone-based fare system, Big Timber Road is in zone H. As of 2018, Big Timber Road is the 75th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 699 weekday boardings. When it opened in 1986 (the same year the Milwaukee Road ceased operations), the surrounding area mostly consisted of farmland. Since then, numerous residential subdivisions have been built. Big Timber Road presently does not have service on weekends or holidays. As of December 12, 2022, there are a total of 41 trains serving the station, with 19 inbound trains originating from here and 22 outbound trains terminating here on weekdays. Travel time to Union Station ranges from 1 hour and 7 minutes to 1 hour and 28 minutes, depending on the train.

Harvest Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Elgin, Illinois, United States. Harvest Christian Academy is a ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel, a church that is located on several campuses in the Chicago area. The school has students ranging from preschool to high school. As of September 2014, the number of students enrolled at Harvest Christian Academy from preschool to grade 12 totaled 650, the number of full-time and part-time staff totaled 72, and the size of the facilities totaled 80 acres and over 200,000 square feet. The school was founded in August 2004. The ethnic diversity of Harvest Christian Academy is significantly less than that of the state average in Illinois. Compared to the state average rate of 51% White students enrolled, Harvest Christian Academy has an 87% rate of White students. Both the Hispanic and Black communities, which on average in Illinois represent 24% and 18% of student enrollment respectively (the second and third largest ethnic groups), are only represented by 4% and 2% of the enrolled population at the private school.

The academy is registered as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization in Elgin, Illinois, and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.The school has affiliations with the Illinois Association for Gifted Children, College Board, and the National Honor Society.

Elgin ( EL-jin) is a city in Cook and Kane counties in the northern part of Illinois, United States. Elgin is located 35 mi (56 km) northwest of Chicago, along the Fox River. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 114,797, making it the 6th most populous city in Illinois.

Wing Park Golf Course in Elgin, Illinois is the "oldest and best preserved nine-hole municipal golf course in Illinois." The course was constructed during a golf course boom in the Chicago area during first few years of the 1900s. The course was named after William H. Wing, who donated the land for a park in 1902. When the Elgin and Belvidere Electric Company was built only a few blocks away, Elgin developed the southern portion of the property to a golf course. The course was developed by Tom Bendelow, a prolific designer who laid out over six hundred golf courses. Wing Park Golf Course opened on September 5, 1908 and has been in continuous operation since. The Wing Park Golf Club was organized in 1912 to help manage the property. The course was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Judson University is a private Baptist university in Elgin, Illinois. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. Judson was formed out of the liberal arts component of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. When the seminary moved from Chicago to Lombard, Illinois, it was decided to make the college separate from the seminary. Originally known as Judson College, it was named after Adoniram Judson, the first American Baptist missionary to foreign shores. The university has campuses in Elgin and Rockford, Illinois, and a student body of approximately 1,300. Judson College became Judson University on August 28, 2007.

The Larkin Home for Children is a former orphanage at 1212 Larkin Avenue in Elgin, Illinois. The Larkin Home originated from the Elgin Children's Home Society, which was founded in 1898; it operated from a donated building until 1912, when it built its own orphanage due to space concerns. The home was funded by private donors and sought to provide a stable domestic environment for the children it housed, making it a typical example of a Progressive Era orphanage and contrasting it with earlier government-run programs. Architect George Morris designed the 1912 building in the Georgian Revival style. A hospital was built on the home's property in 1926 to address the home's difficulties caring for ill children. The home continued to house children until 1966, when it was converted to an administrative building due to changes in the Larkin Home's mission; it closed entirely in 2013.The orphanage was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 31, 2018.

West Dundee is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,686 as of the 2020 US Census. It is considered a far northwest Chicago suburb. West Dundee lies across the Fox River from East Dundee and Carpentersville.

Judson College, in Mount Palatine, Illinois, United States, was founded as Mount Palatine Academy in 1846, under the auspices of the Baptist denomination. It was chartered by the state of Illinois as a university in the winter of 1850–51, then led by its first president in 1853, and sold under fiscal duress by the Sheriff in 1860. When the Illinois Central Railroad was built, stopping in Tonica, Illinois, six miles away from Mount Palatine, rapid decline in enrollment ensued at Judson. This institution subsequently became unprofitable and was sold in 1860 to the Catholic community in the vicinity. The sale was conditional on the sole building and property be permanently maintained as a school. Failure to do so would cause the property to revert to the original owners.Judson College has never been connected to the present-day institution founded under the same name, now called Judson University, an evangelical Christian liberal arts university located in Elgin, Illinois, founded in 1963.
