Staley is an unincorporated community in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. Staley is located along Illinois Route 10 near the western border of Champaign.

The William M. Staerkel Planetarium is a planetarium at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. It is the second largest planetarium in the state, the largest being the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, and has the first Carl Zeiss M1015 opto-mechanical star projector installed in the western hemisphere. The Staerkel Planetarium provides science education programs and light show entertainment to as many as 40,000 people each year. It has a 50-foot dome, seats 144, and private group and school show reservations can be made beyond the regular public offerings.Public shows are every Friday and Saturday evenings. Aside from their regular star shows, the planetarium also hosts a lecture series the first Friday of every month. The planetarium is named after Parkland College's founding president, who led the college for the first 20 years.

Parkland College is a public community college in Champaign, Illinois. It is part of the Illinois Community College System serving Community College District 505 which includes parts of Coles, Champaign, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Ford, Iroquois, Livingston, Moultrie, McLean, Piatt, and Vermilion Counties. Parkland College enrolls approximately 9,000 students annually, with more than 340,000 students served since September 1967. William M. Staerkel Planetarium is located at Parkland College.

Centennial High School is a public high school serving grades 9-12 in Champaign, Illinois. It is part of Champaign Unit 4 School District. As of the 2020–21 school year, it had 1,400 students. The school is located next to Jefferson Middle School and Centennial Park.

Located in the western part of Champaign, Illinois, Centennial Park is the second largest park operated by the Champaign Park District. Land for the park was acquired in 1959 for an estimated cost of $161,800. Since its acquisition of the land, the park district exchanged 5 acres (2.0 ha) of Centennial Park to Champaign Unit 4 School District in return for the land of Morrisey Park. Currently, Champaign Centennial High School and Jefferson Middle School sit within the park. The campus was designed by Professor Karl Lohmann.

The Champaign Park District is the municipality association responsible for maintenance of public parks in the city of Champaign, Illinois. There are just over 650 acres (2.6 km2) of parkland within the city limits. As of the fiscal year 2011-2012, the park district had an operating budget of almost $11.5 million. Furthermore, the park district employees about 65 full-time staff and over 400 part-time and seasonal workers.

Dodds Park is located in northwestern Champaign, Illinois near Parkland College. This 110-acre (45 ha) park (roughly one fifth of the total Park District holdings) is noted for the "Tribute to Olympic Athletes Monument" on its grounds. The park was purchased in 1969 for the sum of $298,495.

Champaign ( sham-PAYN) is a city in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 88,302 at the 2020 census. It is the tenth-most populous municipality in Illinois and the fourth most populous city in Illinois outside the Chicago metropolitan area. It is included in the Champaign–Urbana metropolitan area. Champaign shares the main campus of the University of Illinois with its twin city of Urbana. Champaign is also home to Parkland College, which serves about 18,000 students during the academic year. Due to the university and a number of well-known technology startup companies, it is often referred to as the hub, or a significant landmark, of the Silicon Prairie. Champaign houses offices for the Fortune 500 companies Abbott, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Caterpillar, John Deere, Dow Chemical Company, IBM, and State Farm. Champaign also serves as the headquarters for several companies, including Jimmy John's.

Wee Haven is a historic house located at 1509 West Park Avenue in Champaign, Illinois. The Prairie School house was built in 1925; its design came from a plan which architect Charles Saxby Elwood had published in Fruit, Garden and Home magazine the previous year. As is typical in Prairie School designs, the house has a heavy emphasis on horizontality, as can be seen in its low massing, flat roof with wide eaves, and casement windows with art glass. The house's various ornaments, which include tile prairie flowers, a wooden apron and string course, and fascia along the eaves, also add to its horizontal focus. The house's fireplace, its most distinctive Prairie School interior feature, has a tile hearth with a brick surround and two more decorative tile flowers.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 15, 2011.
