Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) is a public community college in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. LCCC offers over 100 academic, technical, and career programs. The institution uses an open admissions policy for most programs, and has over 35,000 graduates. In addition to the 167-acre main campus in Nanticoke, the school maintains 7 satellite learning centers located throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. LCCC Dedicated Centers are located in Berwick, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Shamokin, Hazleton, Pittston, and Watsontown. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It offers 71 occupational programs (includes degree, certificate, and diploma programs), 25 liberal arts/transfer programs, 10 credit-free career training programs as well as numerous conferences, seminars, workshops, and business/industry customized training either on-campus or throughout the community During the fall 2019 semester approximately 9,000 students were enrolled in credit and noncredit courses. The student to faculty ratio is 18:1.

Concrete City is a ghost town in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was an early example of International Style architecture in the United States, built as company housing in 1911 for select employees of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad's coal division in Nanticoke.The complex originally consisted of 22 duplex houses which surrounded a central courtyard containing tennis courts and a baseball field.It was eventually taken over by the Glen Alden Coal Company who, uninterested in paying for required improvements and unable to demolish it due to its robust construction, abandoned the property in 1924.In 1998, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission declared Concrete City a historic site.Concrete City stands to this day, albeit in extreme disrepair. The ghost town is commonly used by military, police, firefighters, airsoft military-simulation events, recreational paintball players for staged games, and as a popular site for urban explorers.

It occupies 3.6 square miles (9.3 km2) of land. Nanticoke is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The city can be divided into several sections: Honey Pot (northwestern Nanticoke), (northern and central Nanticoke), and Hanover Section (southeastern Nanticoke). It was once an active coal mining community. Today, the 167-acre main campus of Luzerne County Community College is located within the city.

Espy Run is a tributary of Nanticoke Creek in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 2.4 miles (3.9 km) long and flows through Nanticoke and Hanover Township. The watershed of the stream has an area of 3.14 square miles (8.1 km2). The stream is affected by abandoned mine drainage and has been affected by sewage in the past. The Espy Run Wetlands and the Espy Run discharge are in the stream's vicinity. The surficial geology in the area consists of urban land, coal dumps, surface mining land, Wisconsinan Till, Wisconsinan Ice-Contact Stratified Drift, and bedrock.

The Askam Borehole is a borehole that is located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is situated in the watershed of Nanticoke Creek north of PA 29 and Dundee Road and contributes several million gallons of acid mine drainage to that creek daily. The borehole also discharges large loads of iron and other substances. It was constructed by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in the early 1970s and drains mine water from the South-East Mine Pool Complex. The discharges of the borehole have been treated by active treatment systems and artificial wetlands. It is located at approximately 41.200509, -75.966600 GPS coordinates.
