Plantation is an area in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated south of the River Clyde and is part of the former Burgh of Govan.The 32-hectare (80-acre) Craigiehall estate, previously three smaller properties, was bought in 1783 by John Robertson, a cashier in the Glasgow Arms Bank, who with his brothers owned cotton and sugar plantations in the West Indies. He renamed it Plantation, possibly as a reminder of the West Indies plantations, It then, in 1793, passed to John Mair (d. 1867), a merchant who developed the building and gardens. Plantation passed to the Maclean family, The Macleans of Plantation, in 1829, in the person of William Maclean (1783-1867), a Glasgow Baillie.In the years that followed, the estate was bisected by the railway to the south, with the shipbuilding yards of The Clyde Trust cutting off the estate from the river. Tenement housing was built and the house demolished in about 1900.Plantation Quay formed part of the site for the Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988 and subsequent Glasgow Science Centre.Before demolition of the 19th century tenements in the 1970s, Plantation's streets included Lorne Street, MacLean Street, Blackburn Street, Plantation Street, Eaglesham Street, Mair Street, Craigiehall Street and Rutland Crescent; parts of Paisley Road West and Govan Road are also part of the district. The main primary school is Lorne Street Primary School. Other points of interest are the local Church of Scotland and Harper Memorial Baptist Church, named for John Harper the first pastor, who died in the Titanic disaster. Today, Plantation is where all the major roads join around the Tradeston area and where the M8 meets the junction of the M77 and the M74.

Kinning Park is a southern suburb of Glasgow, Scotland. It was formerly a separate police burgh between 1871 and 1905 before being absorbed by the city. In 1897, it had a population of 14,326.

Kinning Park subway station serves the Kinning Park area of Glasgow, Scotland. However, to reach Kinning Park, a footbridge is provided across the M8. It was opened in 1896 and comprehensively modernised in 1977–1980. The station retains its original island platform configuration. Kinning Park station is the shallowest in the Subway system. The station is lightly used and recorded only 240,000 boardings in the 12 months ending March 2005.[1] New ticket barriers came into operation on 10 July 2013.

The Finnieston Crane or Stobcross Crane is a disused giant cantilever crane in the centre of Glasgow, Scotland. It is no longer operational, but is retained as a symbol of the city's engineering heritage. The crane was used for loading cargo, in particular steam locomotives, onto ships to be exported around the world. It is one of four such cranes on the River Clyde, a fifth one having been demolished in 2007, and one of only eleven giant cantilever cranes remaining worldwide.

The Glasgow Garden Festival was the third of the five national garden festivals, and the only one to take place in Scotland. It was held in Glasgow between 26 April and 26 September 1988. It was the first event of its type to be held in the city in 50 years, since the Empire Exhibition of 1938, and also marked the centenary of Glasgow's first International Exhibition, the International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry of 1888. It attracted 4.3 million visitors over 152 days, by far the most successful of the five National Garden Festivals. Its significance in the rebirth of the city was underlined by the 1990 European City of Culture title bestowed on Glasgow in September 1986. The two events together did much to restore Glasgow to national and international prominence.

Kinning Park was a 19th-century sports ground in Kinning Park, Renfrewshire, Scotland, primarily used for cricket and football. It was the home of Clydesdale Cricket Club from 1849, staging a number of important matches against visiting English teams. It was also the original home of the club's football team, Clydesdale F.C. When both teams relocated to Titwood in 1876, Kinning Park was taken over by Rangers F.C., who played there until moving to the first Ibrox Park in 1887. The ground was the venue for the 1881 Scottish Cup Final (and replay) between Queen's Park and Dumbarton.

Bell's Bridge is a pedestrian bridge spanning the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. A swivelling swing bridge, it was constructed in 1988 to coincide with the Glasgow Garden Festival, it allowed pedestrians to cross from the main exhibition site to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre on the other side of the river.The northern stub of the bridge is supported only by the quay, whereas the majority of the bridge consists of a cable-stayed span which can rotate through 90 degrees, providing two lanes of passage for river traffic either side. It is named for the Arthur Bell & Sons whisky company, who sponsored its construction. The bridge was designed by Sir William Arrol & Co. and constructed by John Young and Company (Kelvinhaugh) Ltd.

The SEC Armadillo (originally known as the Clyde Auditorium) is an auditorium located near the River Clyde, in Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of three venues on the Scottish Event Campus, which includes the SEC Centre and the OVO Hydro.

BBC Pacific Quay is BBC Scotland's television and radio studio complex at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Scotland. Opened by then Prime Minister Gordon Brown on 20 September 2007, the studios are home to BBC Scotland's television, radio and online services and the headquarters of the BBC in Scotland.

It replaced the Scottish BBC Radio 4 opt-out service of the same name from 23 November 1978. Radio Scotland is broadcast in English, whilst sister station Radio nan Gàidheal broadcasts in Scottish Gaelic.According to RAJAR, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 780,000 and has a listening share of 6.2% as of December 2022.

Media Village Scotland is a television studio complex at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Scotland. It is home to BBC Scotland & STV. It is situated near the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and the Glasgow Science Centre.

The Glasgow Harbour Tunnel Rotundas are two red brick stone rotundas which flank the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The North Rotunda is located on Tunnel Street in the Finnieston area of Glasgow with the South Rotunda at Plantation Place in Govan.
