Weesperkarspel

The Weesp City Hall is the former city hall of Weesp, Netherlands. The main body of the municipality, the municipal council, convened in the Raadzaal (Council Hall) until 24 March 2022 when Weesp became part of the municipality of Amsterdam. The administrative offices have moved, but the former Vierschaar and Burgerzaal (Civic Hall) are still used for weddings and other official proceedings. The rest of the building is in use as the local museum of Weesp.

De Hogeweyk, operated by nursing home Hogewey, is a gated model village in Weesp, Netherlands. It has been designed specifically as a pioneering care facility for elderly people with dementia. The benefit of using all-day reminiscence therapy at Hogewey, compared to traditional nursing homes, is that the residents with dementia are more active and require less medication.

Weesp is a railway station in Weesp, Netherlands. The station has two island platforms and it has a total of six tracks, from which two tracks are for passing trains. The first station in Weesp opened on June 10, 1874, when the Gooilijn from Amsterdam to Hilversum and Amersfoort was completed. The original station was demolished in 1967 and replaced by a new building. The new building partially went out of service in 1985 because of the new railway line from Weesp to Almere and beyond, called the Flevolijn. The out-of-service part was later converted to a bicycle parking and repair shop. The remaining station is little more than a tunnel passing under the tracks, and a small coffee counter. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Since the opening of the Flevolijn, Weesp has been a major transfer station for passengers travelling from Amsterdam Central Station and Schiphol from the east, and suburbs such as Almere and Hilversum to the west. Due to this circumstance, Weesp features 16 departures per hour. Until 2003, also passagers travelling between Hilversum and Almere had to change at Weesp. In that year a new branch, the Gooiboog, was added to connect the line towards Almere with the line towards Naarden-Bussum railway station and Hilversum. The traveling time from Weesp to Amsterdam Centraal by train is about 15 minutes. The distance between the two is about 15 kilometers.

Driemond is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of Amsterdam Zuidoost, a borough in the municipality of Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 2001, the village of Driemond had 1422 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.2 km², and contained 571 residences. The statistical district "Driemond", which covers the village and the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1600 and 620 houses.Before 1966 Driemond was part of the municipality of Weesperkarspel and named "De Geinbrug". The name "Driemond" means "Threemouth" and comes from the three small rivers Gein, Gaasp and Smal Weesp that meet each other in the village. The name Driemond was also the name of a country estate ("buitenplaats") that once stood near the village, but except for the fountain that can be admired in Frankendael in the Watergraafsmeer in Amsterdam, nothing remains of this building. The village contains two primary schools, kindergarten, a small post office, the football club SV Geinburgia, and Geinburgia Tenis. In 2011 the new sports and activity centre MATCHZO was completed in Driemond. The complex comprises a sports hall of approximately 2,000 m2 with two tennis courts, a gymnasium, changing rooms, physiotherapy room, boardroom, village council office and a spacious canteen with 2 billiards and a community centre. SV Geinburgia, Driemond Fit, the billiard club, the Village Council Driemond where also a small post office is located, the Historische Kring Driemond, the Jan Woudsmaschool and the Cornelis Jetsesschool are regular users of the building.

Weesp (Dutch pronunciation: [ʋeːsp] (listen)) is a city, an urban area in the municipality of Amsterdam and a former municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It had a population of 20,445 in 2021. It lies on the river Vecht and next to the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal in an area called the Vechtstreek. On 1 June 2019 the civil service offices of the municipality of Weesp merged with those of the municipality of Amsterdam in preparation of the merger of the two municipalities, which was finalized on 24 March 2022.

Nigtevecht (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈnɪxtəˌvɛxt]) is a village in the province of Utrecht, Netherlands with a population of 1,395. Formerly part of the municipality of Loenen; it has been part of the newly-formed municipality of Stichtse Vecht since 2011. It is situated about 9 km (5.6 mi) west of Bussum along the Vecht River in the Vechtstreek.

The Weesp train disaster took place on 13 September 1918 near Weesp in the Netherlands. With 41 deaths and 42 injured, it was the largest train disaster in Dutch railway history until 1962 when the Harmelen train disaster occurred. The 102 train from Amersfoort to Amsterdam derailed near the railway bridge over the Merwedekanaal near Weesp and dropped off the bank. Various wooden carriages were splintered, causing many casualties in them.

Hinderdam is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Wijdemeren, and lies about 15 km southeast of Amsterdam. Hinderdam consists of about 20 houses.

The Gooiboog (Dutch for Gooi Curve) is a railway chord which links the Dutch Flevolijn and Gooilijn railway lines. The link is double tracked. The outer, southbound line is 2200 metres long, the inner northbound one is 1400 metre. The outer track is in a dive-under, running beneath the surface level for about 1500 metres, diving underneath the Gooilijn. The Gooiboog offers a direct link between Almere, Hilversum and Utrecht.

Nederhorst den Berg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈneːdərɦɔrs dɛm ˈbɛr(ə)x]) is a village in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It lies about 8 km northwest of Hilversum in the Vechtstreek area, near the Vecht river. Until 1 January 2002, it was a separate municipality; it is now part of the municipality of Wijdemeren.The village was first mentioned in 1326 as "opten berch", and means "lower height with growth". Neder (lower) could have been added to distinguish from the former castle Hoogerhorst aan de Eem. The height refers to a five metre high sandy ridge. Nederhorst den Berg is a peat excavation settlement from the Early Middle Ages. It used to be part of Utrecht, but was transferred to North Holland in 1819.In the 13th century, Nederhorst den Berg Castle was built with octagon corner towers and surrounded by a moat. In 1635, the castle was enlarged and the courtyard was built over. The castle was destroyed by the French in 1672. In 1695, it was rebuilt. The castle burnt down in 1971, and was rebuilt in 1973.The Dutch Reformed Willibrordus Church has a 12th century tower.

Gaasperdam is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands in the Zuidoost (southeastern) borough of the city.

Gaasperplas is an artificial lake used for recreational purposes south-east of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Gaasperplas was created with the extraction of sand for the construction of the Bijlmer. At its deepest the lake is 35 metres deep. It was the setting for the 1982 Floriade landscape and flower show, and the Eastern end of the lake is surrounded by parks and woodlands that once formed part of the event. The lake hosts a Sailing club, Canoe, Windsurfing and Dragon Boat facilities, is popular with anglers, and has a sheltered public beach on the south shore. The section for naturism (officially since 2005) lies on the northern side. One of Amsterdam's principal campsites is located in the area. It is not connected to the navigable canals system, and has a prohibition against the use of motorised boats; these two factors contribute towards a good water quality and abundance of wildlife. A public slipway is available for non-motorised pleasure and fishing craft. One of Amsterdam's metro lines terminates at the station of the same name located near the north shore of the lake.
