Björklinge

The Björklinge runestones are five Viking Age memorial runestones designated in the Rundata catalog as U 1045, U 1046, U 1047, U 1048, and U 1050 that are located at the church in Björklinge, Uppsala County, Sweden, which is in the historic province of Uppland. In addition, there is a small fragment of a runestone with a partial runic text i * lit * rita * meaning "had erected" that has been given the catalog number U 1049.

Runic inscription U 1113 is the Rundata catalog number for a fragmentary Viking Age runestone that is located at Häggeby, which is about 1 kilometer west of Björklinge, Uppland, Sweden. The inscription is classified, based on the remaining evidence, as being carved in runestone style Pr4, also known as Urnes style. This runestone style is characterized by slim and stylized animals that are interwoven into tight patterns. The animal heads are typically seen in profile with slender almond-shaped eyes and upwardly curled appendages on the noses and the necks. The fragmentary runic text on this stone, which is 1 meter in height, has only one word, biarnhufþi ..., which has been translated as the name Bjarnhǫfði. There is another Uppland inscription, U 1045, which is one of the Björklinge runestones, that is located about 1 kilometer to the east at the church in Björklinge which has the same name on its inscription. The inscription on U 1045 states, "Bjarnhǫfði had the stone cut in memory of Bjarnhǫfði, his father ..." It is not known if the name Bjarnhǫfði on inscription U 1113 is associated with the father or son on U 1045, or refers to a third person with this name.

Lövstalöt is a locality situated in Uppsala Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 1,046 inhabitants in 2010.Lövstalöt is situated 12 km north of the city of Uppsala, in the flat country that surrounds the city. Until the end of the 1930s, the village consisted of a few houses and a school, built in 1892. In 1938, a woodworking factory, Bälinge Snickerifabrik, was built.Most of the houses in Lövstalöt were built during the 1960s and 1980s. Detached houses dominate, but there are also some terraced houses. In the centre of Lövstalöt there is a gravefield from the Iron Age.

Bälinge is a locality situated in Uppsala Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden with 2,437 inhabitants in 2010. The village was built around Bälinge Church, which was originally erected in the 13th century and is decorated with paintings made by Albertus Pictor. It was rebuilt between 1784 and 1788, and only parts of the outer walls remain from the original church. Bälinge parish is part of Bälinge Hundred, which was mentioned in 1188, 1281 and 1316 in Svenskt Diplomatarium.

Valsgärde or Vallsgärde is a farm on the Fyris river, about three kilometres north of Gamla Uppsala, the ancient centre of the Swedish kings and of the pagan faith in Sweden. The present farm dates from the 16th century. The farm's notability derives from the presence of a burial site from the Swedish Vendel Age (part of the Iron Age (c. 550–793) and the Viking Age); it was used for more than 300 years. The first ship burial is from the 6th century and the last graves are from the 11th century.

Vendel is a village at Tierp Municipality in Uppland, Sweden. The village overlooks Vendelsjön, a long inland stretch of water near the Vendel river which has its confluence with the river Fyris. Vendel was the site of an ancient royal estate, part of Uppsala öd, a network of royal estates meant to provide income for the medieval Swedish kings. A large number of archaeological finds have been found here, which have given their name to the Vendel Period. Vendel Church (Vendels kyrka) was probably begun to be built in Romanesque style during the latter half of the 13th century. Around 1450, the church was vaulted with brick vaults. The church is most noted for its murals by Johannes Iwan who worked in Uppland during the 15th century.
