Wijdenes (West Frisian: Venès) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is located in the municipality of Drechterland and the region of West-Frisia. The village was first mentioned around 1312 as Widenesse, and means "wide headland". Wijdenes started as a peat excavation settlement in the 12th century. In 1282, a castle was built near the village by the count of Holland, but it was destroyed in 1296 by armies of West-Frisia.The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1619 after the medieval church burnt down in 1616. The tower is from around 1500 and the balustrade and spire were added in 1839. The church is no longer in service, and is used as a recording studio and residential home.Wijdenes was home to 347 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1970, when it was merged with Venhuizen.

Blokker is a village in the northwest Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West Friesland.

Hoorn Kersenboogerd (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɦoːr(ə)ŋˌkɛrsə(m)ˈboːɣərt]) is a suburban railway station, in the Kersenboogerd district in Hoorn, Netherlands. The station opened on 29 May 1983, and is on the Zaandam–Enkhuizen railway. About 1 km east of the station is a siding where the "stoptrein" (all-station service) to and from to Hoofddorp can be turned around. From this point the line to Enkhuizen becomes single track. The station is located in the east of Hoorn, and was originally referred to in the plans as Hoorn Oost.

Manifesto is a music venue located at the Holenweg in Hoorn. The venue opened in 1999 and replaced the closed youth center Troll. The location has a total capacity of 350 people. The location has two different stages, namely the hall and the café. The hall has a capacity of 300 people and the café has a capacity of 50 people. Some noteworthy artists who have performed at this location are The Pretty Things, Mick Taylor, Russkaja, The Charm The Fury and Chef'Special. There are also often performances by local, regional and upcoming artists.

Westwoud is a village in the Netherlands. It is located in the region of West Friesland in North Holland, about 4 kilometers northeast of Hoorn. The town is part of the municipality of Drechterland and has a population of 1,785. Westwoud received city rights in 1414, along with the villages of Westerblokker and Oosterblokker. This mainly meant it could form its own judicial district, which was abolished in 1811. It was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1979, when it merged with Hoogkarspel and Oosterblokker to form the municipality Bangert, which was changed to Drechterland in 1980.

Blokdijk is a hamlet in the municipality of Drechterland, in the Dutch province of North Holland. Until 2006, Blokdijk was part of the municipality Venhuizen.Both Blokdijk and De Hout are formally a part of Wijdenes. Blokdijk arose at the dyke from Hoorn to Venhuizen. It was first mentioned in 1402 as Block-dyck, and means "enclosed pasture near a dike". Blokdijk does not have place name signs.

Zwaag (Dutch pronunciation: [zʋaːx]; West Frisian: Swaegh) is a village in the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Hoorn, the province of North Holland and the region of West Friesland.

Hoorn (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦoːr(ə)n] ) is a city and municipality in the northwest of the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is the largest town and the traditional capital of the region of West Friesland. Hoorn is located on the Markermeer, 20 kilometers (12 mi) east of Alkmaar and 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Amsterdam. The municipality has just over 73,000 inhabitants and a land area of 20.38 km2 (7.87 sq mi), making it the third most densely populated municipality in North Holland after Haarlem and Amsterdam. Apart from the city of Hoorn, the municipality includes the villages of Blokker and Zwaag, as well as parts of the hamlets De Bangert, De Hulk and Munnickaij. Hoorn is well known in the Netherlands for its rich history. The town acquired city rights in 1357 and flourished during the Dutch Golden Age. In this period, Hoorn developed into a prosperous port city, being home to one of the six chambers of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Towards the end of the eighteenth century, however, it started to become increasingly more difficult for Hoorn to keep competing with nearby Amsterdam. Ultimately, it lost its function as port city and became a regional center of trade, mainly serving the smaller villages of West Friesland. Nowadays, Hoorn is a city with modern residential areas and a historic city center that, due to its proximity to Amsterdam, is sometimes considered to be part of the Randstad metropolitan area. Cape Horn and the Hoorn Islands were both named after this city.

Oosterkerk or St. Anthony Church is a former Dutch Reformed Church in Hoorn, North Holland in the Netherlands. The church is a Rijksmonument and was designed in the Gothic style. The church's origins date back to 1450. The building that exists today was complete in 1616. Today, the church is a cultural center.

The Oostereiland in the Dutch city of Hoorn is an artificial island built between 1662 and 1668. It was constructed from dams which were then raised and broadened. Soon after construction, homes and warehouses were built on the island, including a warehouse for the Admiralty of the Noorderkwartier.

The Visserseiland ("Fisherman's island") is a man-made peninsula in the harbor of the Dutch city Hoorn. It was constructed in the 17th century; formerly called Westereiland ("western island"), with the Oostereiland ("eastern island") across from the harbor, it created extra docking capacity and separated the Grashaven from the Zuiderzee.

Roode Steen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈroːdə steːn]; lit. 'Red Stone'), also known as Kaasmarkt (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkaːsmɑr(ə)kt]; lit. 'Cheese Market'), is a square and a road junction in the city center of Hoorn, Netherlands. The Westfries Museum and the weigh house (Waag) are both located on the Roode Steen. A statue of Jan Pieterszoon Coen, made by Ferdinand Leenhoff, was placed on the square in 1893.
