USS Midway Museum

Navy Region Southwest is one of eleven current naval regions responsible to Commander, Navy Installations Command for the operation and management of Naval shore installations in California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico. It is headquartered across from the Broadway Pier in Downtown San Diego. The command also serves as the regional coordinator for the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, headquartered in Hawaii, coordinating support for bases in Southern California and Nevada. The Commander also serves as regional environmental coordinator for California, Arizona and Nevada and coordinates and oversees environmental compliance actions with local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Additionally, COMNAVREGSW is responsible for planning and coordinating Department of the Navy response to civil emergencies within the states of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and California.

USS Midway (CVB/CVA/CV-41) is an aircraft carrier, formerly of the United States Navy, the lead ship of her class. Commissioned 8 days after the end of World War II, Midway was the largest ship in the world until 1955, as well as the first U.S. aircraft carrier too big to transit the Panama Canal. She operated for 47 years, during which time she saw action in the Vietnam War and served as the Persian Gulf flagship in 1991's Operation Desert Storm. Decommissioned in 1992, she is now a museum ship at the USS Midway Museum, in San Diego, California, and is the only remaining inactive U.S. aircraft carrier that is not an Essex-class aircraft carrier.

The Embarcadero in San Diego, California is the area along the San Diego harbor on the east side of San Diego Bay. "Embarcadero" is a Spanish word meaning "boarding place". The Embarcadero sits on property administered by the Port of San Diego, in the Columbia district of Downtown San Diego. The Embarcadero is home to the San Diego cruise ship terminal, the museum ships USS Midway at Navy Pier and Star of India, seven other historic vessels belonging to the San Diego Maritime Museum, and various restaurants and shops from the North Embarcadero down through Seaport Village. The Port is redeveloping the historic Broadway Pier to create a second cruise-ship pier and terminal. That project is slated for completion in December 2010.

Lane Field was a baseball stadium located in San Diego, California. The ballpark was home to the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League from 1936 through 1957. The ballpark was located in downtown San Diego, at the end of West Broadway near the waterfront. Broadway bounded the park to the south (first base). Its other two close bounding streets were Harbor Drive (third base) and Pacific Highway (right field). There were various buildings to the north (left field) between the ballpark and Ash Street.

The Navy Broadway Complex is a bayside military facility located in Downtown San Diego, California. It houses the primary offices of the Navy Region Southwest, and is closely tied to regional United States Coast Guard operations. The Global Advanced Traceability and Control (ATAC) and function is housed in the Navy Broadway Complex.

Pacific Gate by Bosa is a residential skyscraper under construction in San Diego, California. Upon completion, the building will be 450 ft (137.2 m) tall and will become the seventh tallest building in the city, tied with the Pinnacle Marina Tower. It was first proposed in 2012 and began construction in 2015. Pacific Gate will contain 41 floors and 216 apartments. The building was completed in the late 2010s.

Electra was until 2014 the tallest residential high rise building in San Diego, California, United States, with a height of 144.8 meters. It comprises 43 floors and 248 rooms, and was completed in 2008. The historic San Diego Gas & Electric Company building is located in the base of the building.

Ruocco Park is a park in San Diego, in the U.S. state of California.

La Punta de Los Muertos, also called Sailors, Dead Men's Point is a historical site in San Diego, California. La Punta de Los Muertos site is a California Historical Landmark No. 57, listed on December 6, 1932. The site is thought (site could be another place) to be the burial site of those that died in the survey party of Don Juan Pantoja y Arriaga and Don José Továr in 1782. Don Juan Pantoja y Arriaga arrived at San Diego Bay on the Spanish Empire Royal frigate La Princesa. With La Princesa was the frigate La Favorita. The ships were under the command of Don Augustín de Echeverria or Esteban José Martínez. La Princesa was under Agustín de Echeverría and Josef Tovar. Some sailors on the ships most likely died from scurvy or an intestinal disease, from lack of fresh food on the trip to San Diego. Esteban Martínez and Pantoja was also on the trip. Don Juan Pantoja was the leader of the San Diego Bay survey party, called the Pantoja voyage. The site is now a city shopping mall and Ruocco Park, near the San Diego Police Museum.A historical marker was place on Harbor Drive and Pacific Highway (California Highway 163) in San Diego, in 1954 by San Diego County Board of Supervisors and the Historical Markers Committee.

Grande Condominiums is a condominium complex in downtown San Diego consisting of two towers, Grande North and Grande South, completed in 2005.

The Grande at Santa Fe Place is a high-rise residential building in San Diego, California, United States composed of two towers of equal height. The 39-story towers have a height of 420 feet (130 m) and are a prominent fixture in San Diego's skyline. Located in the Core district of Downtown San Diego, The Grande at Santa Fe Place was designed by the architect firm Perkins & Company Architecture and Urban Design Inc. The towers are currently tied with Vantage Pointe Condominium as the tenth-tallest buildings in San Diego.
