Marion Harding High School (Ohio)

Marion City School District is a public school district serving students in the city of Marion, Ohio, United States. The school district enrolls 4,315 students as of October 2017.

The Ohio State University at Marion (OSU Marion or OSUM) is a satellite campus of Ohio State University in Marion, Ohio. The campus was founded in 1957. Its 187-acre (0.76 km2) campus is located 45 miles (72 km) north of Columbus and is shared with Marion Technical College. There are eight buildings on the campus. The Marion campus practices open admissions. Its average class size is 19. An average age of students is 23.5. The Marion Campus Library of the OSU Marion Campus contains over 48,000 books, a large reference collection, and over 300 subscriptions. The library collection also includes print periodical indexes, microforms, maps, newspapers, pamphlet file, special collections in careers and children's literature, and the Warren G. Harding/Norman Thomas Research Collection. It provides access to all the resources of The Ohio State University and Ohio Link. About 88% of students at the Marion campus are awarded federal or state financial aid. The student body is 53% female and 47% male. The Academy Program at the campus provides the opportunity for qualified students to enroll in college while still in high school as part of Ohio's College Credit Plus program. The Alber Enterprise Center is a campus-based corporate education center that provides workforce training, organization development, and performance improvement techniques.

Marion Technical College, (Marion Tech or MTC) is a public technical college in Marion, Ohio. It shares a campus with Ohio State University at Marion. Founded in 1970 with classes beginning in 1971, MTC has awarded over 7,500 associate degrees. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs in the areas of Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Public Service, Health, and Arts and Sciences. The college practices open admissions. High school students comprise about 49% of MTC's enrollment.

Marion Catholic High School (sometimes referred to as Marion Catholic Junior/Senior Preparatory High School) was a private, Catholic high school in Marion, Ohio, United States that was established in 1879 by three sisters from the Sisters of Charity. It was part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus. In March 2013, it was announced by Bishop Frederick F. Campbell that Marion Catholic would close following the 2012–13 school year due to declining enrollment and financial concerns.The first class graduated in 1882 and the current building was opened in 1957. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. The Marion Catholic Fighting Irish participated in the Northwest Central Conference.

Tri-Rivers Career Center and Center for Adult Education is a public vocational school that provides career-technical training to high school students and adults in north-central Ohio. The high school students come from schools in Marion, Morrow and Union counties. The Adult Education Center has become a regional campus that partners with area businesses to provide lifelong, continuous training programs in computer, health, industrial and public safety fields.

The Marion Correctional Institution (MCI) is a minimum- and medium-security prison for men located in Marion, Marion County, Ohio, owned and operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.The facility first opened in 1954 and has a working population of 2,623 state inmates. The facility is close to the North Central Correctional Complex, a private prison also housing Ohio state inmates. In 2015, two prisoners built two PCs with parts that were used to do malicious actions on the prison's secure network.On April 18, 2020, approximately 50 National Guardsmen were activated to assist staff after nearly two thousand prisoners and staff tested positive for the 2019-nCoV coronavirus. One correction officer had died by that point, and nearly three-quarters of prisoners had tested positive.In May 2020 Jay Z and rapper Meek Mill, through their group REFORM Aliiance, donated 10 million protective masks to correctional systems throughout the United States, including MCI.As of July 28, 2020, 2 inmates had died 1,224 inmates were placed in medical quarantine, and another 11 were placed in security quarantine.

The Marion Public Library building, now part of the Trinity Baptist Church, is a historic Carnegie library in Marion, Ohio. Funded with a Carnegie Grant in 1905, the public library opened in 1907. The library was designed by Richards, McCarty & Bulford of Columbus, Ohio. The architectural firm also designed the Frank Huber Residence, located at 416 Church Street (diagonal from the current library building) and the Huber Building, a five-story department store in Marion. Andrew Carnegie donated $30,000 to build the library. It was designed in the Beaux Arts style. The historic building closed in 1978 and is now part of the Trinity Baptist Church complex.

The Warren G. Harding Presidential Library and Museum is the presidential library of Warren G. Harding, the 29th president of the United States (1921–1923). It was scheduled to open on September 4, 2020; followed by a formal dedication ceremony later on September 18, 2020. However, the opening was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The library was officially opened to the public May 12, 2021.It is located in Marion, Ohio, adjacent to the Harding Home, the historic house museum of the former president. The 2020 scheduled completion date was set to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Warren G. Harding's win in the 1920 presidential election.The $7.5 million project was announced on April 12, 2016, by Harding 2020, a collaboration between the Harding Home, Marion Technical College, and the Ohio History Connection. Both of Ohio's U.S. Senators, Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman, are honorary co-chairs of the project.Plans included the construction of the 15,000-square-foot center and museum. The center has interactive exhibits of the former president, as well as meeting space. The center houses artifacts and memorabilia that were once owned by the former president and his wife Florence Harding. In addition, the center houses Harding's presidential papers, which were previously stored at the Ohio History Connection's headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, since 1963.About $1.3 million will also be spent to restore the Harding Home and its grounds to reflect how they appeared in 1920.Sherry Hall, manager of the Harding Home, told The Plain Dealer that the center will help inform visitors about Harding's presidency beyond the single paragraph found in most textbooks. "Quite frankly, this president deserves for his story to be told," stated Hall.

The Harding Home is a historic house museum at 380 Mount Vernon Avenue in Marion, Ohio. It was the residence of Warren G. Harding, twenty-ninth president of the United States. Harding and his future wife, Florence, designed the Queen Anne Style house in 1890, a year before their marriage. They were married there and lived there for 30 years before his election to the presidency. Like James A. Garfield, an earlier U.S. president from Ohio, Harding conducted his election campaign mainly from the house's expansive front porch. During the 3 month front porch campaign, over 600,000 people traveled to the Harding Home to listen to Warren speak. George Christian (Warren's next door neighbor and Press Secretary) allowed his home to be used as Republican Headquarters for the campaign. In 1920, Harding built a small bungalow-style structure behind the Christian House so newspaper reporters had workspace to type their stories. The house is surrounded by an expansive, elaborately detailed porch. Entry to the house is through a reception hall, with a parlor on the left. A dining room and Harding's office are also in the first floor. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and a bathroom. Built-in closets are an unusual feature for the time.Mrs. Harding bequeathed the house to the Harding Memorial Association. The Ohio Historical Society now operates the home as a historic house museum and a memorial. The restored house contains almost all original furnishings owned by President Harding and his wife. The adjacent press house features exhibits about the lives of President and Mrs. Harding. The collection at the Harding Home is over 5,000 original artifacts that belonged to Warren and Florence Harding.On April 12, 2016, "Harding 2020", a collaboration between Ohio History Connection, the Harding Home, and Marion Technical College, detailed plans to spend $7.3 million at the site to establish the Warren G. Harding Presidential Center. Plans include restoring the home (inside and out) and its grounds to its 1920 appearance. The culmination of the work was to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Harding's election to the presidency.

The North Central Correctional Institution is a minimum- and medium-security prison for men located in Marion, Marion County, Ohio, operated by Management and Training Corporation under contract with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.The facility first opened in 1994 and has a working population of 2893 state inmates. The facility is owned by the state, and under MTC management since the end of 2011. The prison closed on July 01, 2018. Inmates were transferred to other locations. It is not uncommon for prisons to close to staffing levels.

Marion Township is one of the fifteen townships of Marion County, Ohio, United States. The 2010 census found 44,749 people in the township, 36,837 of whom lived in the city of Marion.

The Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena, in Marion, Ohio. It was built in 1949. It was home to the Marion Blue Racers indoor football team of X-League Indoor Football. The arena was formerly home to the Marion Barons, a minor league professional ice hockey team during the 1953-54 International Hockey League season. The Toledo Mercurys played part of the 1955–56 season at the arena, operating as the "Toledo-Marion Mercurys." The most recent former tenant was the Marion Mayhem, which folded in 2010, after 5 years of participating in the CIFL (known as the Great Lakes Indoor Football League during its inaugural season). The Ohio Junior High wrestling championships were held at the arena.
