Coggeshall Abbey

Coggeshall ( or ) is a town in Essex, England, between Colchester and Braintree on the Roman road Stane Street and the River Blackwater. It has almost 300 listed buildings and a market whose charter was granted in 1256 by King Henry III.

St Peter ad Vincula ('St Peter in chains') in Coggeshall, Essex, is one of a group of oversized churches built following the success of the early wool-trade in the East Anglia area. It is Grade I listed.The building now standing was completed in the first quarter of the 15th century, and sits on a site where both Saxon and Norman churches stood previously. When the nearby church at Marks Hall was demolished in 1933 some items were moved to this church, including the monument to Mary Honywood which is now in the sacristy. She was celebrated for having 367 living descendants at the time of her death.

Grange Barn is a historic timber-framed building in Coggeshall, Essex, England. Grange Barn was built by the Cistercians in the 13th century to serve Coggeshall Abbey. It underwent significant structural alteration in the 14th century. It is Grade I listed.

Coggeshall Hamlet is a hamlet in the civil parish of Coggeshall and the Braintree District of Essex, England. The hamlet is less than 1 mile south from the small market town of Coggeshall, and is on the B1024 road south from the A120. The River Blackwater flows at the east of the hamlet. The George at Kelvedon is 800 yards (700 m) south from the hamlet on the B1024.

Honywood Community Science School is a secondary school in Coggeshall, Essex, England.It was first opened in 1964 and became Honywood School catering for 11–16 year olds. The average on roll is around 1100 learners.

Paycocke's House and Gardens are a surviving example of a Tudor merchant's house and garden in Coggeshall, Essex, England. The house was built for Thomas Paycocke, a wealthy cloth merchant in the town. The house was very nearly destroyed in the 19th century, but was rescued and restored by Lord Noel Buxton in the early 20th century, before being handed to the care of the National Trust.The house has been described as an attractive half-timbered house, notable particularly for its intricate woodwork and carvings.

The A120 is an A-road in England, which runs between Puckeridge in Hertfordshire and Harwich in Essex. Along its route, the A120 bypasses the towns of Bishop's Stortford, Great Dunmow, Braintree, Coggeshall, Colchester and Dovercourt. The route meets the A10, A131, A12 and A133 primary routes and the M11 motorway. London Stansted Airport sits directly north of the route on the Essex and Hertfordshire border. Harwich International Port, a North Sea seaport at the mouth of the River Stour, lies north of the A120 near Harwich.Part of the route constitutes Euroroute E32, between the A12 (E30) at Colchester and Harwich International Port.

Coggeshall United Football Club was a football club based in Coggeshall, Essex. They were founded in 2017 by former footballer Cliff Akurang.

Surrex is a hamlet in the civil parish of Coggeshall, and the Braintree district of Essex, England. The hamlet is at the junction of the A120 road and a minor road (Old Road) to the village of Feering, and is 1 mile (1.6 km) east from the small market town of Coggeshall. Surrex largely comprises modern housing development and a small retail and business area. Surrex was previously in the civil parish of Feering, and from 1854 in the ecclesiastical parish of Great Tey. In 1933, commercial listings for the hamlet in Feering included a farmer, a beer retailer, and a threshing machine proprietor.In 2014, following road safety concerns, particularly those expressed by local MP Priti Patel, Surrex settlement entry signs were placed on the A120. The signs caused some initial confusion and ridicule from local people and councillors, however, a later report stated that the signs were seen as being successful in reducing traffic speed.A former public house, from 2008 The Queens Head (previously named "The Surrex Inn, the American Pilot, the East Anglian Roadhouse and the Porterhouse Inn"), closed in 2011 and became derelict. The building, then owned by a Chinese investor, was destroyed by fire in August 2017.

Skye Green is a hamlet at the north the civil parish of Feering, and in the Braintree district of Essex, England. The hamlet is situated between the village of Feering, 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) to the south, and the Coggeshall hamlet of Surrex, 1⁄2 mile (800 metres) to the north. Nearby settlements include Langley Green, Broad Green and Stocks Green. Skye Green includes Home Farm, Cockerell's Farm and Shoulder Hall. The hamlet contains two Grade II listed buildings: Cockerell's Farmhouse (c.1700) with Bakehouse (c.1800), and The Old Cottage which dates to the 17th century.

Fillol's Hall or Felix Hall, Kelvedon, Essex was an English manor house. It belonged to the Fillol family, which included Catherine Fillol, Duchess of Somerset, the first wife of the future Lord Protector of England Sir Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, uncle of Edward VI. In the mid eighteenth century the Hall was acquired by the plantation owner Daniel Mathew (1718-1777) and sold after his death. A fine family portrait c1763 painted by Johan Zoffany was part of the National Trust Clandon Park House collection, Guildford. Charles Western, 1st Baron Western bought Felix Hall about 1790. Western in the early nineteenth century made additions there in classical style, to create a modern mansion. They were based on a drawing by Antoine Desgodetz of the Temple of Portunus.In 1953 Felix Hall, then in ruins, was bought by Milner Gray and his wife.
