Carson High School (Carson, California)

Carson station is a below grade busway station on the J Line of the Los Angeles Metro Busway system. The station is located on the shoulder of Interstate 110 at its intersection with Carson Street, after which the station is named, in Carson and West Carson, California. It is one of two stations along the Harbor Freeway are outside of the Harbor Transitway, a shared busway and high occupancy toll lane. North of this station transitway services use Torrance Boulevard and Figueroa Street to the Harbor Gateway Transit Center. Traveling south on I-110 the next station is Pacific Coast Highway. The station uses two side platforms which are accessed from Carson Street via stairs and elevators. The station is close to the Harbor–UCLA Medical Center and has a 143 space park and ride lot.

Carson Community Center is a convention center located in Carson, California. It consists of the Community Hall, with 11,950 square feet (1,110 m2) of space and a capacity of 1,200 as well as a 30-foot (9 m)-high ceiling and a 1,500-square-foot (140 m2) lobby; an 8,170-square-foot (759 m2) atrium; 27,446 square feet (2,550 m2) of meeting rooms (16 in all); five patios totalling 8,201 square feet (762 m2); another lobby, measuring 1,100 square feet (100 m2); and two lounges totalling 2,524 square feet (234 m2). It is used for trade shows, seminars, weddings, banquets and other community events.

West Carson is an unincorporated community in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 22,870 at the 2020 census. For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined West Carson as a census-designated place (CDP).

Bixby Marshland is a wildlife area operated by the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts in Carson, California, as part of the environmental mitigation of wastewater. The space is 17 acres (6.9 ha) in area and is a restoration of the old Bixby Slough. The only other surviving piece of the Slough is Machado Lake at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park. Bixby Marsh is notable as a “unique marsh habitat in an urban setting.” According to the Bixby Marshland Guide for Visitors, the Sanitation District and Los Angeles County Department of Public Works secured the land in mid-1970s, but “over time, non-native plants proliferated at the site.” To restore the marshland so that it was closer to its original ecological state, many introduced species were removed, and others like eucalyptus were killed but left standing as snags, which are important habitat resources. A “large variety of native plants” were selected to re-vegetate the area.It is located next to the 110 freeway and the adjacent Wilmington Wash flood control channel at the southwest corner of Figueroa Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.Established in 2009, the park is open to the public for tours on the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon (weather permitting) and by appointment.

Harbor–UCLA Medical Center, is a 570-bed public teaching hospital located at 1000 West Carson Street in West Carson, an unincorporated area within Los Angeles County, California. The hospital is owned by Los Angeles County and operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, while doctors are faculty of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, who oversee the medical residents being trained at the facility.The facility is one of two adult level I trauma centers (providing the highest level of surgical care to trauma patients) operated by Los Angeles County; the other is Los Angeles General Medical Center.

Camp Ross was a World War II base serving as a staging area (embarkation camp) under the command of the Army's Los Angeles Port of Embarkation. The camp was located in San Pedro, California and Wilmington, California. The United States Department of War leased 31.026 acres of land starting in 1942. Camp Ross was used by the US Army as staging area for troops ready for deployment and for troop returning home to Naval Operating Base Terminal Island.

Carson is a city in the South Bay and the Harbor regions of Los Angeles County, California, located 13 miles (21 km) south of downtown Los Angeles and approximately 14 miles (23 km) away from Los Angeles International Airport. It was Incorporated on February 20, 1968. The city is locally known for its plurality of Filipino-Americans and immigrants. As of the 2020 United States Census, the city had a population of 95,558.

SouthBay Pavilion, formerly Carson Mall, is a partially enclosed shopping mall in Carson, California. Opened in 1973, it features as its anchor retailers Burlington, IKEA, JCPenney, Ross Dress For Less, and Target. SouthBay Pavilion has been recognized by and award from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for its innovative marketing and event programs focused on community service and social responsibility.

Saint John's Episcopal Church is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument located in the Wilmington section of Los Angeles, California, near the Port of Los Angeles. Built in 1883, it is the oldest church building in the harbor area that is still used for regular worship services. It was moved to its present site in 1943.

The Del Amo Superfund Site is located in southern Los Angeles County between the cities of Torrance and Carson. It is a U.S. EPA Region 9 Superfund Site. The waste-disposal site of a rubber manufacturer is one of 94 Superfund Sites in California as of November 29, 2010.

Banning Academies of Creative and Innovative Sciences (BACIS) was a high school in Wilmington, California. BACIS was one of two public high schools that are co-located on the Banning complex. BACIS was part of Los Angeles Unified School District.BACIS was created as part of LAUSD's Public School Choice process, through which the School Board encouraged teacher teams to develop plans to restructure failing schools. As a chronically underperforming school, Banning was required to participate in the fourth round of Public School Choice, which concluded with Superintendent John Deasy approving the BACIS school plan. BACIS opened as a Small Learning Community in August 2013, and became an autonomous school in August 2014. The school closed down on July 30, 2018.

Phineas Banning High School is located in the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, and is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
