KPBS (TV)

KUSI-TV (channel 51) is an independent television station in San Diego, California, United States. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside Fox affiliate KSWB-TV (channel 69). KUSI-TV's studios are located on Viewridge Avenue (near I-15) in the Kearny Mesa section of San Diego, and its transmitter is located southeast of Spring Valley. The station operates translator K03JB-D in Temecula (part of the Los Angeles market). After a 15-year dispute over permit ownership that almost derailed the launch of the station on multiple occasions, KUSI began broadcasting in 1982 as a partnership between United States International University and McKinnon Broadcasting Company. It was the first independent station built in San Diego proper. Financial and accreditation problems at USIU led to the sale of its stake to McKinnon in 1990, with McKinnon exercising veto power to block any sale to another entity. McKinnon then started KUSI's news department, which has since grown to produce newscasts throughout the day. In 2023, McKinnon sold KUSI to Nexstar.

KNSD (channel 39) is a television station in San Diego, California, United States, airing programming from the NBC network. It is owned and operated by the network's NBC Owned Television Stations alongside Poway-licensed Telemundo outlet KUAN-LD (channel 48). KNSD and KUAN-LD share studios on Granite Ridge Drive in the Serra Mesa section of San Diego; through a channel sharing agreement, the two stations transmit using KNSD's spectrum from an antenna southeast of Spring Valley. KNSD's on-air branding, NBC 7 San Diego, is derived from its cable channel position in the market on Charter Spectrum, Cox Communications and AT&T U-verse. The station is also available on channel 39 on satellite providers DirecTV and Dish Network.

KUAN-LD (channel 48) is a television station licensed to Poway, California, United States, broadcasting the Spanish-language Telemundo network to the San Diego area. It is owned and operated by NBCUniversal's Telemundo Station Group alongside NBC outlet KNSD (channel 39). The two stations share studios on Granite Ridge Drive in the Serra Mesa section of San Diego. Despite KUAN-LD legally holding a low-power license, it transmits using KNSD's full-power spectrum from an antenna southeast of Spring Valley. This ensures complete reception across the San Diego television market. KUAN is known on-air as Telemundo 20; as with KNSD's main branding, it is derived from its channel 20 cable position on Charter Spectrum, Cox Communications and AT&T U-verse.

KSWB-TV (channel 69) is a television station in San Diego, California, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, the station maintains studios on Engineer Road in the city's Kearny Mesa section, and its transmitter is located southeast of Spring Valley. KSWB-TV is branded as Fox 5 San Diego, in reference to its primary cable channel position in the market on most local cable providers (it is also carried in Baja California, Mexico on Izzi channel 92). Until 2011, the logo bug shown during the station's newscasts rotated between its common cable channel position and its over-the-air virtual channel number, 69.

KSWB-TV Tower is a 68.2-metre-high guyed television tower at San Diego, California, United States at 32°41′47″N 116°56′10″W. KSWB-TV Tower was built in 1984 and is used by KSWB-TV Channel 69 (Fox 5) and by KNSD Channel 39 (NBC 7) in San Diego.

KZSD-LP (channel 20) is a low-power television station in San Diego, California, United States. It is a translator of ABC affiliate KGTV (channel 10) which is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company. KZSD-LP's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain southeast of Spring Valley; its parent station maintains studios on Air Way in the Riverview-Webster section of San Diego. As a stand-alone analog station affiliated with Azteca América and later MeTV, KZSD's broadcasting radius only covered northern and eastern parts of the city of San Diego and some adjacent suburbs (such as Poway and El Cajon). Therefore, the station was simulcast in widescreen standard definition over KGTV's second digital subchannel in order to reach the entire market. The unusual numbering for the mapped subchannel in the past as channel 10.15 was in order to align it with KZSD's former cable placement on Cox Communications channel 15 (PBS member station KPBS-TV, which broadcasts on virtual channel 15 over the air, is instead carried on cable channel 11). Once XHDTV-TDT2 (later XHAS-TDT) assumed the Azteca América affiliation, KZSD-LP lost the channel 15 cable slot, but regained carriage on May 1, 2017 on Cox digital channel 808, when it assumed the MeTV affiliation in San Diego. KZSD-LP was converted to digital in 2018 as a KGTV translator, allowing homes with issues receiving KGTV's VHF signal or only a UHF antenna to receive KGTV in some form.

San Miguel Mountain is a mountain located in Chula Vista, California. It is 2,567' high, and is the 84th highest peak in San Diego County.Because San Miguel is "the highest point close in to the San Diego metro area," it has been home to radio and TV transmitters since the 1960s.

KDTF-LD (channel 36) is a low-power television station in San Diego, California, United States, affiliated with the Spanish-language UniMás network. It is owned by Entravision Communications alongside Class A Univision affiliate KBNT-CD (channel 17); it is also sister to Azteca América affiliate XHAS-TDT (channel 33) and Milenio Televisión affiliate XHDTV-TDT (channel 49). The latter two stations are owned by Mexican-based Televisora Alco, which is 40% owned by Entravision. All four stations share studios on Ruffin Road in San Diego's Kearny Mesa section; KDTF-LD's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain in Spring Valley.

Rancho Jamacha was a 8,881-acre (35.94 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Diego County, California given in 1840 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Apolinaria Lorenzana. Jamacha is an Indian name. The grant extended eastward from Rancho de la Nación along the Sweetwater River Valley. The southwestern section of the rancho is now covered by the waters of the Sweetwater Reservoir created in 1888.

Steele Canyon Charter High School is a public charter high school located in the San Diego East County community of Spring Valley, California, United States. Opened in 2000, the school serves students in grades nine through grade twelve. It has operated as a California charter school since July 1, 2007. Steele Canyon's main rival is Valhalla High School. Steele Canyon has also served as an evacuation center for San Diego residents threatened by the Harris fire, one of the larger October 2007 California wildfires.

The Sweetwater River Bridge was built in 1929 to carry Ca highway 94 over the Sweetwater River in San Diego County, California, US.

Upper Otay Reservoir, also called Upper Otay Lake, is a 20-acre artificial lake in San Diego County, California. It was created in 1959 as a hatchery for the propagation and introduction of Florida Largemouth bass. The reservoir has been open to the public since 1996. In addition to fishing, the site was popular among waterfowl hunters until it was closed to hunting in 2002. In 2014, the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department, together with the non-profit group Rivers Partners, began restoring the reservoir. The $1.2 million project focused on approximately 100 acres, including five small streams that make up the reservoir's watershed.
