Upper Otay Reservoir

Rancho del Otay Airfield was a private runway in Chula Vista, California on Rancho del Otay. Industrialist Stephen Birch owned and built Rancho del Otay on 29,000 acre of land just west of the Lower Otay Reservoir. The land Stephen Birch purchased in 1939 was part of the vast Rancho Otay. Stephen Birch died in 1940 and his daughter Mary inherited 11 acres of Rancho del Otay. Mary had a large cattle and agricultural ranch on the land, first called Otay Agricultural Corporation and later United Enterprises. Mary ferried US built planes to England during World War 2 and built a short runway on here land. Mary Birch married Patrick R. Patrick in 1955 and moved into the Spreckels hunting lodge. Patrick was a retired wing commander in the Royal Air Force. In 1984 Mary donated land to the Chula Vista Community Hospital, now the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. After Mary Birch death on November 20, 1983, the ranch was purchased in 1988 by the Baldwin Company for development. Mary's estate was in San Diego County probate court case for years. In the end the land was divided to relatives, friends, and former employees. The airfield abandoned and now surrounded by homes. The airfield is located east of the intersection of Otay Lakes Drive & Woods Road.

Lower Otay Reservoir is a reservoir in San Diego County, Southern California. It is flanked by Otay Mountain to the southeast, the Jamul Mountains to the east, Otay Lakes Road and Upper Otay Reservoir to the north, and the city of Chula Vista to the west. The reservoir is formed by impounding the waters of the Otay River, behind Savage Dam, completed in 1918, and is also the terminus for the second San Diego Aqueduct, which transports imported water from the Colorado River. The dam and reservoir are owned by the City of San Diego.

Rancho Janal was a 4,437-acre (17.96 km2) Mexican land grant in present day San Diego County, California given in 1829 by Governor José María de Echeandía to José Antonio Estudillo. The grant was located near present day Otay Mesa. A large portion of the grant is now covered by the waters of the Upper and Lower Otay Reservoirs. Rancho Janal and the adjoining Rancho Otay were granted to members of the Estudillo family, and they are often considered as one rancho.

Chula Vista Christian University (CVCU) is a private Christian university in Chula Vista, California. The university was founded in 2020 and offers undergraduate programs from a Biblical worldview. CVCU claims to be "the first modern, homeschool-based university on the West Coast."

Eastlake High School (ELH or EHS), in Chula Vista, California, United States, is a four-year high school which opened on September 8, 1992. The school is located just east of California State Route 125 near the eastern edge of Chula Vista in the neighborhood of Eastlake, a suburb located 20 minutes southeast of Downtown San Diego. The movie Bring It On, was partially filmed at the school's football stadium. The Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center, located on campus, is used for band and orchestra concerts, dance performances, plays, church services, and other community performances. The school also features an amphitheatre for pep rallies and seating during lunch and nutrition break. The school also features an observatory and an engineering department, with classes ranging from Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) to Aerospace engineering.

Savage Dam is a dam across the Otay River in the San Ysidro Mountains of southwestern San Diego County, California. It is a concrete arch gravity structure 149 feet (45 m) high, and serves to store water from the San Diego Aqueduct's third pipeline for backup municipal uses in the San Diego metropolitan area. It is just over 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Chula Vista and 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the United States-Mexico border. The dam is named in honor of H. N. Savage, who directed its construction.The dam was originally completed in 1897 as an earthfill and steel structure called the Otay Dam by the Southern California Mountain Water Company to provide water storage. However, in 1916, heavy rains supposedly brought on by Charles Hatfield, a "rainmaker", hired by the city of San Diego to put an end to a drought, caused the dam to burst. The failure sent a wall of water 40 feet (12 m) high downstream, destroying buildings and bridges, and washing thousands of tons of sediment and wreckage into San Diego Bay. Eleven Japanese American farmers were killed. The dam was rebuilt as Savage Dam in 1918, and has functioned properly since.

Otay Ranch Town Center is an open-air shopping mall/lifestyle center in the Otay Ranch area of Chula Vista, California, just south of San Diego. Owned and operated by Brookfield Properties with Anchor stores like AMC Theatres, Barnes & Noble, Planet Fitness, and Macy's. Other retailers include Apple Inc., H&M, and Hollister Co. Dining options include The Cheesecake Factory, Chili's and P.F. Chang's China Bistro.

KZSD-LP (channel 20) is a low-power television station in San Diego, California, United States. It is a translator of ABC affiliate KGTV (channel 10) which is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company. KZSD-LP's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain southeast of Spring Valley; its parent station maintains studios on Air Way in the Riverview-Webster section of San Diego. As a stand-alone analog station affiliated with Azteca América and later MeTV, KZSD's broadcasting radius only covered northern and eastern parts of the city of San Diego and some adjacent suburbs (such as Poway and El Cajon). Therefore, the station was simulcast in widescreen standard definition over KGTV's second digital subchannel in order to reach the entire market. The unusual numbering for the mapped subchannel in the past as channel 10.15 was in order to align it with KZSD's former cable placement on Cox Communications channel 15 (PBS member station KPBS-TV, which broadcasts on virtual channel 15 over the air, is instead carried on cable channel 11). Once XHDTV-TDT2 (later XHAS-TDT) assumed the Azteca América affiliation, KZSD-LP lost the channel 15 cable slot, but regained carriage on May 1, 2017 on Cox digital channel 808, when it assumed the MeTV affiliation in San Diego. KZSD-LP was converted to digital in 2018 as a KGTV translator, allowing homes with issues receiving KGTV's VHF signal or only a UHF antenna to receive KGTV in some form.

KSWB-TV (channel 69) is a television station in San Diego, California, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, the station maintains studios on Engineer Road in the city's Kearny Mesa section, and its transmitter is located southeast of Spring Valley. KSWB-TV is branded as Fox 5 San Diego, in reference to its primary cable channel position in the market on most local cable providers (it is also carried in Baja California, Mexico on Izzi channel 92). Until 2011, the logo bug shown during the station's newscasts rotated between its common cable channel position and its over-the-air virtual channel number, 69.

KSWB-TV Tower is a 68.2-metre-high guyed television tower at San Diego, California, United States at 32°41′47″N 116°56′10″W. KSWB-TV Tower was built in 1984 and is used by KSWB-TV Channel 69 (Fox 5) and by KNSD Channel 39 (NBC 7) in San Diego.

San Miguel Mountain is a mountain located in Chula Vista, California. It is 2,567' high, and is the 84th highest peak in San Diego County.Because San Miguel is "the highest point close in to the San Diego metro area," it has been home to radio and TV transmitters since the 1960s.

KDTF-LD (channel 36) is a low-power television station in San Diego, California, United States, affiliated with the Spanish-language UniMás network. It is owned by Entravision Communications alongside Class A Univision affiliate KBNT-CD (channel 17); it is also sister to Azteca América affiliate XHAS-TDT (channel 33) and Milenio Televisión affiliate XHDTV-TDT (channel 49). The latter two stations are owned by Mexican-based Televisora Alco, which is 40% owned by Entravision. All four stations share studios on Ruffin Road in San Diego's Kearny Mesa section; KDTF-LD's transmitter is located on San Miguel Mountain in Spring Valley.
