Spektens Gränd

Ankargränd (Swedish: "Anchor Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the streets Trångsund and Prästgatan, just west of church Storkyrkan. Ankargränd is a parallel street to Storkyrkobrinken, Spektens gränd, Solgränd, and Kåkbrinken. Derived from a Marcus Andersson Ankar (-1704) and his simple eating house (or fast food restaurant as it is called today) Ankaret ("The Anchor") on Number 5 in front of the church. While the restaurant was in operation in the late 17th century, the present name of the alley is first mentioned in 1731, before which it seems to have been a nameless backstreet. The present building on Number 5 was built to the plans of Erik Palmstedt in 1772 and retains its original appearance with its rounded Rococo corner facing Prästgatan and small barred windows.The Cornelis Vreeswijk Museum is located on Ankargränd.

Solgränd (Swedish: "Sun Alley") is an alley in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. It connects the Stortorget square to the street Prästgatan. It is a parallel street to Storkyrkobrinken, Ankargränd, Spektens gränd, and Kåkbrinken. Solen ("The Sun") was the name of several taverns in Gamla stan, and in a list dated 1671 three taverns and inns are said to bear the name, one of which is called Solen vid Prästgatan ("The Sun at Prästgatan"). A tavern probably located in the corner of Prästgatan gave the alley its name. The popular troubadour Carl Michael Bellman (1740–1795) mentions the alley in his lyrics. The tavern mentioned in his epistle n:o 79 Charon i Luren tutar however, dedicated to a mor Maja Myra i Solgränden vid Stortorget, anno 1785 ("mother Maja Myra in the Solgränd by Stortorget, in the year 1785"), is referring to a tavern next door to Solen, in epistle n.o 56 called Förgyllda Bägaren ("The Gilt Cup").

Trångsund (Swedish for 'Narrow Strait'; Swedish pronunciation: [trɔŋˈsɵnːd];) is a short, narrow street in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching from Stortorget in front of Storkyrkan to Storkyrkobrinken, it is intercepted by Ankargränd and Spektens Gränd and forms a parallel street to Prästgatan and Källargränd. In the 15th century the name Trångsund was used for a narrow street in the southern end of Gamla stan, possibly Mårten Trotzigs Gränd, but by the end of the 16th century it was used for the formerly nameless alley. As the church used to be surrounded by a graveyard, Trångsund used to be much narrower before both the graveyard and the wall around it were demolished in 1816. Västerlånggatan ("the Western Long Street") is a street in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching southward between the squares Mynttorget and Järntorget, it follows the course of the city's now demolished 13th-century defensive wall. The blocks along the street are elongated but only a few meters in width; those on the eastern side oriented lengthwise, and those on the western crosswise. Only four blocks thus forms the eastern side of the street while some 20 are lined-up along the western side. Most (but not all) of the front doors of the buildings are located either on the quiet Prästgatan, the parallel street passing along the eastern side, or in one of the numerous alleys on the street's western side. The intact façades of the northernmost blocks are hiding the semi-detached offices of the Riksdag. To the south of those are the remaining numerous and very narrow blocks and alleys which before the great fire of 1625 occupied the entire western side of the street.

Saint George and the Dragon (Swedish: Sankt Göran och draken) is a late medieval wooden sculpture depicting the legend of Saint George and the Dragon, located in Storkyrkan in Stockholm, Sweden. It is attributed to Bernt Notke and was commissioned by the Swedish regent Sten Sture the Elder. It was inaugurated in 1489. It has been described as an artistic high point in the artistic production of Bernt Notke.

Throughout its history it appears under various names : Yskemes grenden (1612), Öskiemyss gränden (1623), Yxe Smedes Grenden (1646), Yxe-Smeds gr[änd], Ödesgr[änd], Uttermarks gr[änd] (1733), Yxsmedsgränd (1885).

The Diocese of Stockholm (Swedish: Stockholms stift) is a division of the Church of Sweden. Its cathedral is Storkyrkan in Stockholm's Old Town. The diocese covers most of metropolitan Stockholm and was formed in 1942 from parts of the medieval dioceses of Strängnäs and Uppsala, both pre-dating the foundation of Stockholm. Before 1942, the City of Stockholm itself and Greater Stockholm were divided more or less equally between the two medieval dioceses at Slussen just south of Stockholm's Old Town.
