Werra Viaduct, Hedemünden

The Münden Tunnel (German: Mündener Tunnel) is a railway tunnel on the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line in Germany. It is situated south of the town of Hann. Münden between Göttingen and Kassel. At a total length of 10,525 metres (6.540 mi), it is the second longest tunnel in Germany after the Landrücken Tunnel. The tunnel was built between 1983 and 1989. At the northern portal, which is located at 51°24′12″N 9°42′31″E, the trains cross the valley of the river Werra on the Werra Viaduct at Hedemünden, parallel to the A 7 autobahn. At the southern portal, (51°21′45″N 9°34′33″E) they cross the Ickelsbach valley, after which the Mühlenkopf Tunnel follows immediately.

Scheden is a village in the district of Göttingen, Lower Saxony, Germany. The commune of Scheden consists of the three villages: Scheden, Meensen, and Dankelshausen. The river Schede runs through the village. In 2020 the population was 1,871.

The Forstbotanischer Garten in Hannoversch Münden (2.87 hectares) is a forest botanical garden and arboretum located at Mitscherlichstraße 5, Hannoversch Münden, Lower Saxony, Germany. The garden was established in 1868 at the founding of the Royal Prussian Academy of Forestry Hann. Münden, and formally opened in 1870 on a site of 5.25 hectares. It fell into disuse during World War I, and after its destruction by air raids in World War II was used for vegetable cultivation. In 1962, the garden was reestablished on 4.3 hectares with about 1700 tree and shrub species, but after the academy moved to Göttingen in 1970, it was again abandoned. It reopened in 1988 on 2.87 hectares, and since 2005 has been maintained by the Lower Saxony Forestry Service (Niedersächsische Landesforsten) Münden. It currently contains 754 trees and shrubs under special protection.

Hann. Münden (short for Hannoversch Münden) is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany. Münden lies in the district of Göttingen at the confluence of the Fulda and Werra rivers, which join to form the Weser. It has about 24,000 inhabitants (2013). It is famous for its half-timbered houses, some of them more than 600 years old. There are 10 million cobblestones around the town.

The Fulda (German pronunciation: [ˈfʊlda]) is a river of Hesse and Lower Saxony, Germany. It is one of two headstreams of the Weser (the other one being the Werra). The Fulda is 220.4 kilometres (137.0 mi) long.The river arises at Wasserkuppe in the Rhön mountains in Hesse. From there it runs northeast, flanked by the Knüll mountains in the west and the Seulingswald in the east. Near Bebra it changes direction to the northwest. After joining the Eder river it flows straight north until Kassel, then changes direction to the northeast, with the Kaufungen Forest east and the beginning of the Reinhardswald forest northwest. The north end of the river meets the Werra in Hannoversch Münden, Lower Saxony, where the Fulda and the Werra join to form the Weser river. Gimte is a village in the municipality of Hann. Münden, Lower Saxony, Germany, with a population of 2150 (as of December 2007) and an area of 5.01 km². The local mayor (Ortsbürgermeister) of Gimte is Peter Kazwinkel (SPD).

The Arboretum Habichtsborn, also known as the Arboretum Staufenberg, is an arboretum located at Forstamtsstraße 6, Escherode, several kilometers southeast of Staufenberg, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is maintained by the Niedersächsischen Forstlichen Versuchsanstalt, and contains about 150 types of woody plants, including Sequoiadendron specimens.

Schede is a river of South Lower Saxony, Germany, in the district of Göttingen. It is 13.2-kilometre-long (8.2 mi) right and eastern tributary of the Weser at Hilwartshausen (a district of Hann. Münden).

The Hoher Hagen is a volcanic hill that is still 480 m high today, in the Dransfeld Municipal Forest, in the German district of Göttingen in South Lower Saxony.

The Gauss Tower is a reinforced concrete observation tower on the summit of the Hoher Hagen in Dransfeld, Germany. The tower can be reached directly by car. A restaurant with a panoramic view is located inside the tower. The tower is named for Carl Friedrich Gauss, who made the large triangle from the Hohen Hagen break into Inselsberg a basis of his survey of Hanover. From 1909 to 1963, there had already been a Gaussturm nearby. It broke when a quarry was expanded too far in the 1950s.
