Westerdeichstrich

Oesterdeichstrich is a municipality belonging to the Amt ("collective municipality") Büsum-Wesselburen in the district Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Oesterdeichstrich is a rural area situated directly east of the dike that connected Büsum with the mainland in 1585, hence its name (Oester/Ost = east, Deich = dike). This municipality includes the airport Heide-Büsum from where the airline Ostfriesische Lufttransport GmbH serves a flight connection to Helgoland.

Hedwigenkoog is a municipality belonging to the Amt ("collective municipality") Büsum-Wesselburen in the district Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Hedwigenkoog is situated on the North Sea coast north of Büsum and Westerdeichstrich. It consists of 1600ha of marshland reclaimed from the sea (called a Koog in German) and protected with a dike in 1696 to secure the land connection between Büsum and Wesselburen. The first part of its name was adopted in honor of Hedvig Sophia of Sweden, wife of Duke Frederick IV of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp. The coat of arms is a modified version of the duke's seal and shows a swan holding an eel. The animals in the original version were a stork and a snake; the eel refers to Ahlen. Hedwigenkoog's economy is based on farming including organic farming and wind energy in combination with tourism. In recent years tourism was a growing industry, with some farms offering bed and breakfast facilities, farm shops and cafes.

Warwerort is a municipality in the Amt ("collective municipality") Büsum-Wesselburen in the district Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Warwerort is located along the north coast of the Meldorf Bight east of Büsum and Büsumer Deichhausen. The name is a combination of the old village of Werven/Warven and Ort (place). Werven originally was located south of Warverort and depicted on maps of the island Büsum as early as 1559. It sank completely during devastating storm tides in 1717 and 1718. The Wehl behind the dike in Warwerort serves as another flood reminder. It formed where the sea washed out the soil after a dike break and left a brackish lake on the landside of the dike. Warwerort's harbor became dysfunctional when the dike around the Speicherkoog (build between 1969 and 1978) to the southeast blocked its access to the North Sea.

Büsumer Deichhausen is situated on the North Sea coast of the Meldorf Bight just east of Büsum. Its name is derived from the words Deich/Dyk (dike) and Haus/Hus (house). It is called Büsumer Deichhausen to distinguish it from the municipality Wesselburener Deichhausen. Its economy is based on a mix of farming and tourism.

On 25 May 2008, it merged with the Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Wesselburen and the town Wesselburen to form the Amt Büsum-Wesselburen. Hohenlockstedt was an Amt ("collective municipality") in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The seat of the Amt was in Hohenlockstedt. In January 2008, it was disbanded, and its municipalities were divided over the Ämter Itzehoe-Land and Kellinghusen.The Amt Hohenlockstedt consisted of the following municipalities: Hohenlockstedt Lockstedt Lohbarbek Schlotfeld Silzen Winseldorf

Büsum Lighthouse (German: Leuchtturm Büsum) is an active 20th century lighthouse located in Büsum a fishing and tourist town, which lies on North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein, in Germany. The current lighthouse is the second to be built in the town, two other separate breakwater lights mark the entrance of the small harbour from the North Sea.
