Oxnard ( ) is a city in Ventura County in the U.S. state of California, United States. On California's South Coast, it is the most populous city in Ventura County and the 22nd-most-populous city in California. Incorporated in 1903, Oxnard lies approximately 60 miles (97 km) west of downtown Los Angeles and is part of the larger Greater Los Angeles area. It is at the western edge of the fertile Oxnard Plain, adjacent to agricultural fields with strawberries, lima beans and other vegetable crops. Oxnard is also a major transportation hub in Southern California, with Amtrak, Union Pacific, Metrolink, Greyhound, and Intercalifornias stopping there. It also has a small regional airport, Oxnard Airport (OXR). The town also has significant connections to the nearby oil fields Oxnard Oil Field and the West Montalvo Oil Field. The high density of oil, industry and agricultural activities around the city, have led to several environmental issues.Oxnard's population was 202,063 in 2020, and is largely Latino. It is the most populous city in the Oxnard–Thousand Oaks–Ventura, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lawrence Fobes King, also known as Latisha King (January 13, 1993 – February 14, 2008) was a 15-year-old student at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, California, who was shot twice by a fellow student, 14-year-old Brandon McInerney, and kept on life support for two days afterwards. Newsweek described the shooting as "the most prominent gay-bias crime since the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard", bringing attention to issues of gun violence as well as gender expression and sexual identity of teenagers.Following many delays and a change of venue, McInerney's first trial began on July 5, 2011, in the Los Angeles district of Chatsworth. That trial ended on September 1, 2011, when Judge Charles Campbell declared a mistrial because the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Prosecutors decided to try McInerney again, but dropped the hate crime charge. On November 21, 2011, McInerney avoided the scheduled retrial by pleading guilty to second degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm. His plea resulted in a sentence of 21 years behind bars.

The Chandler Vintage Museum of Transportation and Wildlife, more commonly referred to as the Vintage Museum, was the primary showcase for the collections of Otis Chandler since its foundation in 1987. The museum was located in Oxnard, California, designed by architect Vincent Dyer and home to Otis Chandler's extensive collection of vintage and rare automobiles, motorcycles, and trains as well as fine art and wildlife game. After its founder died, the collection was auctioned off in late 2006. The museum reopened in 2010 as the Mullin Automotive Museum, displaying the Peter W. Mullin collection, including 12 Bugattis from the former Schlumpf Collection.

The Mullin Automotive Museum is a privately owned automobile museum in Oxnard, California, US. Established in 2010, it displays the personal car collection of businessman and philanthropist Peter W. Mullin. The museum has a large collection of vintage Bugattis, and many of the cars are fully restored and able to be driven.The museum is housed in the building formerly occupied by the Chandler Vintage Museum of Transportation and Wildlife. The 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2) building was remodeled to be more energy efficient by American architect David Randall Hertz, making use of solar panels and reflective roofing to reduce heat, yet incorporating elements that retain the Art Deco style and motifs in order to match the era of the cars, many of which were made by French manufacturers in the 1920s and 1930s.Although it is primarily known for its selection of classic French automobiles and grand prix race cars, the Mullin also houses a collection of Art-Deco furniture and contemporary paintings and sculpture, including works by Charles Arnoldi, Ben Abril, and Sigrid Burton.

Rancho El Rio de Santa Clara o la Colonia was a 44,883-acre (181.64 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Ventura County, California given in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Valentine Cota et al. The grant extended from the Santa Clara River south to the present-day Point Mugu Naval Air Station, and the boundary of Rancho Guadalasca, and east from the Pacific Ocean to the present-day 101 Freeway, and the boundary of Rancho Santa Clara del Norte. The grant encompassed much of the Oxnard Plain.

Hueneme High School (HHS) ( wy-NEEM-ee) is a public high school in Oxnard, California. The school is part of the Oxnard Union High School District and serves students in the southern portion of the city of Oxnard and most of Port Hueneme including part of Naval Base Ventura County.

The Carnegie Art Museum is a public art museum owned by the City of Oxnard, California in the building originally occupied by the Oxnard Public Library. The Neo-Classical building, located adjacent to Oxnard's Plaza Park, opened in 1907 as the Oxnard Public Library and was converted into an art museum in 1986. In July 1971, it became the first building in Ventura County and the first Carnegie library in California to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Oxnard Transit Center (formerly Oxnard Transportation Center) is an intermodal transit center in downtown Oxnard, California. It is served by Amtrak Coast Starlight and Pacific Surfliner intercity service plus Metrolink Ventura County Line commuter service.

The Oxnard Public Library is a free public library system operated by the City of Oxnard, California. It has three locations: the Downtown Main Library, the South Oxnard Branch Library, and the Colonia Branch Library.

The Henry T. Oxnard Historic District is a 70-acre (28 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. Covering approximately F and G streets, between Palm and 5th streets, in the downtown core of Oxnard, California, the district includes 139 contributing buildings and includes homes mostly built before 1925. It includes Mission/Spanish Revival, Bungalow/craftsman, Colonial Revival, and other architecture. It includes five Prairie School and eight Tudor Revival homes. It consists of the houses built in two sub-divisions: the Henry T. Oxnard tract on F Street and the Walter H. Lathrop tract on G Street, which were built during 1909-1941 and with the "vast majority" built before 1925. The two streets of homes are contiguous and "make an intact neighborhood that has remained unchanged for more than 70 years.... While many neighboring streets have some historic homes this is the only area that is unchanged and still has the spirit and feeling of the original turn-of-the-century city of Oxnard." The district was developed in part by a number of Jewish immigrants from Alsace, France, whose families built businesses in Hueneme and then also in Oxnard. These include Moise L. Wolff, Paul Lehmann (an owner of Lehman Brothers), Samuel Weill, and brothers-in-law Achille and Henry Levy.: 40  Samuel Weill, a partner in the Murphy & Weill Merchandise and Grocery of Oxnard built a large residence at 125 N. F street in the district; Henry Levy built a large Craftsman/Tudor-style house at 155 S. G Street. Also at least eight cashiers, tellers, and bookkeepers employed at the Bank of A. Levy or at a business of Henry Levy owned and/or occupied smaller homes in the district.

Naval Construction Battalion Center Port Hueneme, operated as an independent base from 1942 to 2000 as the West Coast home port of the Navy’s Construction Battalions. In 2000, the CBC merged with nearby Naval Air Station Point Mugu to form Naval Base Ventura County.

Port Hueneme ( wy-NEEM-ee; Chumash: Wene Me) is a small beach city in Ventura County, California, surrounded by the city of Oxnard and the Santa Barbara Channel. Both the Port of Hueneme and Naval Base Ventura County lie within the city limits. Port Hueneme has a south-facing sand beach, known for its surfing. The beach has a wooden fishing pier and is about a mile long between Ormond Beach downcoast and Point Hueneme Light at the harbor entrance shared by the naval base and the port. The Waterfront Promenade, also known as the Lighthouse Promenade, provides a paved public access along the shoreline with two historic sites at viewpoints: the 1872 Wharf and the Oxnard Packing House.
