Shoreham Redoubt

Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station located in the town of Shoreham-by-Sea in the English county of West Sussex. It underwent extensive re-development in 2010 with a new purpose built boathall to accommodate its new Tamar-class all-weather lifeboat (AWB). It operates two lifeboats, the AWB RNLB Enid Collett (ON 1295) and the D-class (IB1) Inshore lifeboat RNLB Joan Woodland (D-784).Over the years, Shoreham Lifeboat Station crew have been involved in many rescues. Eight RNLI medals for gallantry, five silver and three bronze, have been awarded, the last in 1980.

Shoreham College is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 16, which is located in Shoreham-by-Sea on the Sussex coast between Brighton and Worthing. The school is a charitable trust whose trustees form the College Council. The current principal is Mrs Sarah Bakhtiari..

St Julian's Church is an Anglican church in Kingston Buci (also known as Kingston by Sea) in the district of Adur, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. Kingston Buci was a Saxon-era village near the English Channel coast between Southwick and Shoreham-by-Sea; little remains from that period, and modern residential development has obscured the old boundaries between the settlements, but the church retains its mostly 13th-century appearance and serves a parish which retains the ancient Kingston Buci name. English Heritage has listed it at Grade I for its architectural and historical importance.

Kingston by Sea, also known as Kingston Buci, Kingston Bucii or simply Kingston, is a small area in the Adur district of West Sussex, England. Although it is now part of a continuous urban area, its origins lay in an ancient village and parish church between Southwick to the east, Shoreham-by-Sea to the west and the mouth of the River Adur to the south. St Julian's Church survives, and its parish perpetuates the ancient "Kingston Buci" name.

Kingston Buci was an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom, and returned one member to sit on West Sussex County Council. It was abolished as a result of boundary changes for the 2017 election.

Shoreham Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, England which opened in September 2009. The academy replaced Kings Manor Community College, which closed in August 2009. The academy uses a house system, which they call 'schools', in which each house is named after a famous author. The schools are called: Wells, Doyle and Kipling. The school was judged 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2012.

Kings Manor Community College (formerly Kings Manor School) was a secondary school located in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, United Kingdom. A specialist status state school, Kings Manor closed and reopened as an Academy named Shoreham Academy, with funding from the central government, in September 2009. Kings Manor School was formed in 1970 by the merger of King's Manor Girls school in Kingston Lane which had opened in 1959, with Shoreham and Southwick Senior Boys County school in Middle Road which had opened in 1937. Initially, the school operated on both sites, but later all facilities were transferred to the Kingston Lane site. The school took students from year seven through year eleven and had an adjoined sixth form college, the student population of which was derived primarily from the main school. The wide catchment area of the school resulted in pupils being taken from diverse social-economic backgrounds. For ease of administration, each year group was divided into ten bands, assigned the letter K or M and a number from 1-5 (e.g. 9K5 or 10M3). However, beyond this, there was little resemblance to a traditional house system. With regards to uniforms, year seven, eight, and nine pupils wore dark blue shirts while those in years ten and eleven wore pale blue. Local newspaper The Argus commented upon the irony of the school's first pupil to go onto the University of Oxford in the same year that Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families Ed Balls threatened the school with closure. This was, however, incorrect, as the school had a track record of Oxbridge entrants during the 1970s and 1980s, including the government economist Paul Johnson who went on from the school to Oxford in 1985. The Education Secretary noted King's Manor as one of 11 schools in the Sussex area which qualified as "failing schools" because less than 30% of students manage to achieve A-C grades at General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). In 2007, 23% of pupils attained five or more GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths, which was roughly half the national average of 46.7%; only 11% of pupils got an A*-C pass in GCSE Science.

Shoreham Football Club is a football club based in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, England. The club is affiliated to the Sussex County Football Association. They are currently members of the Southern Combination Division One and their home stadium is Middle Road. The club are nicknamed "The Musselmen" after the town's ancient mussel picking tradition. The club's home kit is all royal blue with white trim, and the away kit is all red with white trim.

St Michael and All Angels Church is an Anglican church in the town of Southwick in the district of Adur, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. Some Saxon-era structural work is still visible despite rebuilding work in the 12th and 13th centuries and in more recent times; and a church may have existed on the site as early as the 10th century—before the ancient settlement of Southwick even took that name. The church has been damaged by fire and bombing, but is still in active use as the area's parish church. English Heritage has listed it at Grade II* for its architectural and historical importance.

Southwick railway station serves the town of Southwick in West Sussex, England. It is on the West Coastway Line, 4 miles 30 chains (7.0 km) from Brighton. It is operated by Southern. Its platforms are long enough for eight-coach trains.

Southwick () is a town in the Adur district of West Sussex, England located five miles (8 km) west of Brighton. It covers an area of 863.7 hectares ( 2,134.25 acres) and has a population of 13,195 persons (2001 census). The town is loosely divided into three sections: south of Brighton Road is the harbour with its associated industries and businesses; north of Brighton Road up to Old Shoreham Road is mainly residential properties dating from the middle of the nineteenth century to the 1950s; and the area between Old Shoreham Road and the South Downs being the most recent to be developed, also largely residential. The main road which passes through the town is now designated the A259 coast road. The A27 road bypasses the town to its north.

'The Admiralty M-N Scheme' (sometimes given as "Project M-N") was a World War I British plan to close the Strait of Dover in the English Channel to German U-boats, by means of a chain of either eight or twelve massive towers linked by anti-submarine booms and nets. Only two towers had been constructed before the Armistice with Germany caused the cancellation of the project.
