Charterhouse Square

Florin Court is an Art Deco / Streamline Moderne residential building on the eastern side of Charterhouse Square in Smithfield, London.

Ember, formerly Sandbag or Sandbag Climate Campaign, is an environmental non-profit think tank, campaigning to reduce the use of coal. Based in the UK, the organisation was launched in 2008 by Bryony Worthington and was the first (and founding) member of The Guardian's Environment Network.

The Liberty of Glasshouse Yard was an extra-parochial liberty adjacent to the City of London. The liberty took its name from a glass manufacturing works established there. The area now forms part of the London Borough of Islington.

Barbican is a London Underground station situated near the Barbican Estate, on the edge of the ward of Farringdon Within, in the City of London in Central London. It has been known by various names since its opening in 1865, mostly in reference to the neighbouring ward of Aldersgate. The station is served by the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, and is situated between Farringdon and Moorgate stations, in Travelcard Zone 1. Until 2009, Barbican was additionally served by Thameslink services to and from Moorgate.

The London Charterhouse is a historic complex of buildings in Farringdon, London, dating back to the 14th century. It occupies land to the north of Charterhouse Square, and lies within the London Borough of Islington. It was originally built (and takes its name from) a Carthusian priory, founded in 1371 on the site of a Black Death burial ground. Following the priory's dissolution in 1537, it was rebuilt from 1545 onwards to become one of the great courtyard houses of Tudor London. In 1611, the property was bought by Thomas Sutton, a businessman and "the wealthiest commoner in England", who established a school for the young and an almshouse for the old. The almshouse remains in occupation today, while the school was re-located in 1872 to Godalming, Surrey. Although substantial fragments survive from the monastic period, most of the standing buildings date from the Tudor era. Thus, today the complex "conveys a vivid impression of the type of large rambling 16th-century mansion that once existed all round London".

The Worshipful Company of Founders is one of the Livery Companies of the City of London, England. The Founders, or workers in brass and bronze, were incorporated under a Royal Charter in 1614. However, with the development of technology, the ancient craft grew obsolete. Now, the Company exists, along with a majority of Livery Companies, as a charitable foundation. It also supports the foundry industry by awarding research grants and scholarships. The Founders' Company ranks thirty-third in the order of precedence of Livery Companies. Its motto is God, The Only Founder. It had an early association with Saint Clement, having either been named the Fraternity of St Clement, or having had that organization as part of its body.

The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts is a performing arts educational institution based in London, England. It was founded in 1911 by the actress Italia Conti and delivers a variety of disciplines and theatre training at Secondary Education, Further Education and Higher Education. The academy grew out of the first production of the play Where the Rainbow Ends. Italia Conti, an established actress with a reputation for her success working with young people, was asked to take over the job of training the cast. The academy then moved to a church building in Lamb's Conduit Street. However, during World War II, the academy was bombed, destroying all early records. In 1972, the academy relocated to a building in Landor Road, Clapham. It was the home to all full-time Italia Conti pupils for nine years. In 1981, the academy grew and developed so much that it had to expand to Goswell Road in Islington where the Junior and Musical Theatre courses are run. The BA Acting and CertHe Intro to Acting programmes are still held at the Avondale site in Clapham. It is a member of the Federation of Drama Schools.

The Gold Smelters, also known as the Barbican Frieze, Bryer's Frieze, Gold Refiners, or abridged as Gold Smelters, is an outdoor frieze relief by J. Daymond, installed along Aldersgate Street in London, United Kingdom. It was saved from a building demolished in the 1960s and re-erected in its present location by the Corporation of London in 1975.

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the world’s leading professional body for Accounting Technicians, with over 150,000 members worldwide. AAT has 150,000 members according to official records from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). This includes 2,500 licensed bookkeepers. It also includes over 5,000 AAT Licensed Accountants who provide accountancy, tax and business advisory services to more than 500,000 individuals, sole traders and small and medium sized British businesses. 80% of the FTSE 100 employ an AAT apprentice within their finance function. AAT was created in 1980 by the Institute of Accounting Staff (then a subsidiary of ACCA) and the Association of Technicians in Finance and Accounting (then a subsidiary of CIPFA). It is a technician level qualification offering higher apprenticeships which entitles those who have completed the exams and obtained relevant supervised work experience to become an accounting technician. The AAT is based at 140 Aldersgate Street, London but has 43 branches across the UK with representation in the rest of the world including Hong Kong, Botswana and South Africa.

The Hand and Shears is a Grade II listed public house at 1 Middle Street, Smithfield, London.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It was built in the early-mid 19th century.It was named after the former Bartholomew Fair, held at Smithfield for centuries, at which the Lord Mayor of London would come and cut a piece of cloth with a pair of shears to announce that the fair had begun.

Long Lane is a street in the City of London, the historic and primary financial centre of London. It runs east–west and forms part of the B100 route. At the western end it becomes West Smithfield and in the east it becomes Beech Street, at the junction with Aldersgate Street. The street is particularly known for drinking and dining, with a pub, The Old Red Cow, at Nos. 71–72, and restaurants Chabrot at Nos. 62-63 and Apulia (formerly Morgan M) at No. 50.

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, also known as the Information Technologists' Company, is one of the livery companies of the City of London. The company was granted livery status by the Court of Aldermen on 7 January 1992, becoming the 100th livery company. It received its Royal Charter on 17 June 2010 from Prince Edward.
