KODZ

The Coburg Hills are a range of foothills of the western Cascade Range of Lane and Linn counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. They are located northeast of Eugene and east of Coburg, between the Mohawk Valley and Willamette Valley.

The Mohawk River is the largest tributary of the McKenzie River, approximately 30 miles (48 km) long, in west central Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the foothills of the Cascade Range on the southeast end of the Willamette Valley northeast of Springfield. It rises in northern Lane County, approximately 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Springfield. It flows generally southwest and enters the McKenzie from the north on the north side of Springfield. The river's valley is known as the Mohawk Valley.The Mohawk River was probably given its name by Jacob C. Spores in 1849. Spores was a native of the Mohawk River region of New York, and the Oregon river's valley reminded him of the Mohawk Valley in his home state. In turn, the Oregon river gave its name to the Mohawk River band of Kalapuyan Native Americans who inhabited the river valley in the 19th century. They are not related to the Mohawk tribe in the eastern United States. Current and former settlements in the Mohawk Valley include Mabel, Marcola, Mohawk, and Wendling. Named tributaries from source to mouth are North Fork Mohawk River and South Fork Mohawk River followed by Log, Bette, Drury, Shotgun, Polly, Mill, and Cartwright creeks. Further downstream come Parsons and McGowan creeks, then Alder Branch followed by Spores, Stafford, and Sister creeks.

The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints under construction in Springfield, Oregon, a suburn of Eugene.The temple will be the third in Oregon after the Portland Oregon Temple and the Medford Oregon Temple.

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend is a 388-bed regional medical center. The hospital is located in Springfield, in the U.S. state of Oregon. Established in 2008, it is one of two Sacred Heart facilities in the Eugene-Springfield area owned by PeaceHealth. The new RiverBend facility is home to a 24-hour Level II trauma center including full medical/surgical care. The hospital also provides full women's and children's services, including labor and delivery, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Oregon Heart and Vascular Institute is located within the facility, as is the Oregon Neurosciences Institute. With the addition of two pediatric surgeons since 2013, RiverBend is now the only hospital outside of the Portland area to offer pediatric surgery.

OCCU is a credit union based in Eugene, Oregon, owned by more than 260,000 members. It was founded as Lane Federal Credit Union, called U-Lane-O Credit Union from 1981 to 2003, then Oregon Community Credit Union up until 2016. OCCU received approval to convert to a community charger and change its name to Oregon Community Credit Union from U-Lane-O, allowing anyone living or working within a 10-county area to become a member.

The Oregon Railway and Navigation Company Bridge is a railroad bridge in Lane County in the U.S. state of Oregon. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, it formerly carried the tracks of the Southern Pacific Transportation Company over the McKenzie River southeast of Coburg. It has since become a pedestrian and bicycle bridge. The Whipple through truss bridge, resting on concrete supports, is 405 feet (123 m) long, 25 feet (7.6 m) wide, and 44 feet (13 m) high.Built in 1887 for the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company by George S. Morison and installed over the John Day River in north-central Oregon, it was bought by the Southern Pacific in 1907 and moved to the McKenzie River by the American Bridge Company. Made of iron, it replaced a wooden covered bridge constructed at the site in 1891. The earlier bridge, 380 feet (120 m) long, was one of the longest such structures ever built. It replaced the function of Spores Ferry, which began operation a short distance upstream in 1847 and was an important crossing for wagon trains.Coburg Road crosses the river on a highway bridge next to the railway bridge, and Interstate 5 crosses on a different highway bridge slightly further upstream. Armitage County Park, about 5 miles (8 km) north of Eugene, is along the south side of the river near the bridges.

Yarnell is an unincorporated historic locale in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It was located about 5 miles south of Mohawk, in the Mohawk Valley.Yarnell was a station on the now-defunct Marcola line of the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was established in 1901, and was likely named for Jere Yarnell, a local resident listed as living in the area in the 1880 census. There was a Yarnell covered bridge about a mile north of the station that carried Hill Road over the Mohawk River. The bridge was built in 1916 and demolished in 1958. In 1915 there was a Yarnell School.

Flame, or Springfield Flame, is an outdoor 62-foot (19 m) stainless steel sculpture of a flame by Devin Laurence Field, installed at the intersection of Gateway Street and Randy Papé Beltline, in Springfield, Oregon, United States. The $236,000 installation was paid for by a hotel tax.

KRVM (1280 AM) is an NPR-member radio station broadcasting a news and information format. Licensed to Eugene, Oregon, United States, the station is currently owned by and licensed to Eugene School District 4J, and is affiliated with Jefferson Public Radio. In the late 1990s, KRVM was known as KDUK (after the University of Oregon's duck mascot) and was an affiliate of Radio AAHS.

KUGN (590 AM) is a commercial radio station, owned by Cumulus Media and broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to the city of Eugene, Oregon, it serves the Eugene-Springfield media market. The studios and offices are on Executive Parkway. KUGN broadcasts with 5,000 watts, around the clock. By day, the signal is non-directional. But at night, KUGN uses a directional antenna to protect other stations on 590 kHz. The transmitter is off North Game Farm Road.Listeners in the Springfield area can also receive KUGN programming on 98.1 MHz over K251CY, an FM translator.

The Register-Guard is a daily newspaper in the northwestern United States, published in Eugene, Oregon. It was formed in a 1930 merger of two Eugene papers, the Eugene Daily Guard and the Morning Register. The paper serves the Eugene-Springfield area, as well as the Oregon Coast, Umpqua River valley, and surrounding areas. As of 2016, it has a circulation of around 43,000 Monday through Friday, around 47,000 on Saturday, and a little under 50,000 on Sunday.The newspaper has been owned by The Gannett Company since Gannett's 2019 merger with GateHouse Media. It had been sold to GateHouse in 2018. From 1927 to 2018, it was owned by the Baker family of Eugene, and members of the family served as both editor and publisher for nearly all of that time period. It is Oregon's second-largest daily newspaper and, until its 2018 sale to GateHouse, was one of the few medium-sized family newspapers left in the United States.

The Shoppes at Gateway, formerly Gateway Mall, is a shopping center located in Springfield, Oregon, United States owned and managed by Balboa Retail Properties. It has 820,000 square feet (76,000 m2) of retail space. The mall opened in 1990 and is located next to Interstate 5, which largely divides the cities of Eugene and Springfield. Located at the mall is one Cinemark theater and 58 retail stores.
