Turner Chapel was an African Methodist Episcopalian Church located at 37 Lakeshore Road West in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1890. An earlier structure, built on the east side of Sixteen Mile Creek, had burned down. The west side of the river, where artisans lived, was a more welcoming environment for Oakville's "Black Church". It is telling that the church was named after Bishop Henry McNeal Turner, as he was an advocate of the back-to-Africa movement, and the first black chaplain, appointed by Abraham Lincoln, during the American Civil War. The escaped slaves were seeking to escape the penalties of the fugitive slave laws which were passed in the United States in the early nineteenth century. Many of the escapees were skilled tradesmen and one of their number developed the technology that made "stoneboating" possible. Stoneboating was a system where ships could grapple for slabs of sedimentary rock which could then be cut and prepared for building materials. The stratification of the rock, a natural process over eons of time, made for regularly shaped "brick-like" material which had the virtue of being easy to form and consistent in shape. In fact, it was an ideal supply for local stonemasons. It would be an error to think of the newcomers as indigent. Through their intelligence and their craftsmanship they began to have sufficient capital to invest in homes, farms, and a place of worship that was distinctly their own. Rather than copy the places of worship they had known in the southern states they were impressed by the churches of east Oakville. That's likely why they chose red brick for the structure complete with "flying buttresses" which, in essence, are strictly ornamental rather than functional. The floor area of the church is little over 1000 square feet and it was built on sand. This method of building had the virtue of providing complete drainage and keeping the structure free of moisture and the possibility of mold.

The Oakville Waterfront Festival was an annual festival in Oakville, Ontario from 1992 to 2009, which was revived for one time in 2013. During its run, Oakville Waterfront Festival attracted a diverse audience of as many as 50,000 annually. The festival featured concerts, a community stage, craft show, children's village, theme park, interactive games and more. The Burloak Canoe Club is a flatwater canoe/kayak racing club located in Oakville, Ontario. It serves the communities of Burlington and Oakville and provides a variety of canoe-based activities for local residents focusing primarily on the two disciplines of sprint canoe and sprint kayak. Sixteen Mile Creek is a river in Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. It is in the Great Lakes Basin, and flows from the Niagara Escarpment through the towns of Milton and Oakville to Lake Ontario.The creek is named for the distance from the river's mouth to the western end of Lake Ontario. It was previously known to the Mississauga Indians in their language as Ne-sauga y-onk or niizhozaagiwan ("having two outlets") and to the French as Rivière de Gravois ("gravelly river").Like many creeks draining into Lake Ontario, Sixteen Mile Creek has cut a deep valley that is home to a broad range of wildlife, including whitetail deer, raccoons, foxes, opossum, and squirrels. The forest contains tree species typical of the Carolinian forest habitat, although since this is close to the northern limit of this zone, some are poorly represented. The total area of the drainage basin is 372 square kilometres (144 sq mi).In Oakville, it also forms part of Glen Abbey Golf Course and is home to the Oakville Yacht Squadron.

It is the home of 'A' company, The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) and the 1188 Lorne Scots Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps.The armoury is considered by its residents as the "Smallest Armoury in NATO", consisting of a few offices, a small mess, and an adequate parade square. The armoury is used by 'A' Company of the Lorne Scots and the Oakville Army Cadets for weekly training which involves mainly infantry and army cadet related training. The Oakville armoury is the smallest of the three armouries operated by The Lorne Scots. The largest is the armoury in Georgetown.

Apart from Union Station, Oakville is the busiest station in GO Transit's network by passenger volume.It is served by Via Corridor intercity routes between Windsor and Toronto, and the joint Amtrak–Via Maple Leaf service between New York City and Toronto.

Oakville Place Shopping Centre is an indoor shopping mall in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Opened in 1981, the mall is the only major indoor mall in the Town of Oakville. The mall is approximately 42,000 square metres (452,000 sq ft). It is managed by RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust. A centerpiece of the mall was once a monumental clock, 12 ft (3.7 m) tall and weighing 6,000 lb (2,700 kg), that chimes every quarter-hour. It was installed in 1981 and designed by Soheil Mosun Limited of Toronto. The clock was removed in 2016 following a change in ownership. Oakville Place was described by the American Automobile Association as "Oakville's leading shopping mall".The mall is located at the intersection of Queen Elizabeth Way and Trafalgar Road. Oakville Transit bus routes 13 (Westoak Trails) stops on the north side of the mall on Leighland Avenue and makes connections with Oakville GO Station.

Bronte GO Station is a train station in the GO Transit network located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is a stop on the Lakeshore West line and there is an adjacent bus loop for connecting local Oakville Transit bus routes. In September 2008 the station parking lot was expanded with a new entrance on Wyecroft Road. In January 2011, approximately 175 spaces were made available in the south lot which can be entered from Speers Road. When the project is completed the south lot will provide 300 parking spaces, with stairs and ramps to the platforms.A Bronte Station Master Plan was completed in 2013, with key recommendations to be coordinated with ongoing improvements. This included considering extending the east tunnel to the south side of the tracks to a relocated bus loop or improve existing west tunnel connections to the existing loop and add more bus bays. Improvements already started, and was completed by Spring 2016, which included repaving the south parking lot and the addition of 200 new spaces as well as upgrades to platform canopies and shelters.

White Oaks Secondary School (WOSS) is a secondary school located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. The school has north and south campuses, across the road from each other. The north campus used to be attended by students who had different levels and types of capabilities than those of the south campus. The school now acts as a whole, and students can take classes at North or South campus. The north campus offers hands-on technical programs such as hairdressing, child care, autobody and carpentry, as well as classes for students with a wide range of disabilities, and English Language Learner programs (ELL), and is the location for recognized Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs (OYAP) and the Ford Academy of Manufacturing Sciences (FAMS). White Oaks also offers French at the immersion level, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. In the Fraser Institute's report on Ontario schools for the 2012-2013 year, the school was ranked 39 out of 740 secondary schools with an overall rating of 8.3/10.
