Port Talbot Parkway railway station is a railway station in Port Talbot, Wales. The station is located at street level near Station Road in Port Talbot town centre. It is 202 miles 59 chains (326 km) from London Paddington (via Stroud).

The Plaza is a former cinema in Port Talbot. The building is listed for protection as Grade II. The cinema opened in April 1940. It has a modern design with Art Deco influences. Patrons included Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins.

St Joseph's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Aberavon, Port Talbot, Wales. It was built from 1930 to 1931 for the Benedictines in the Romanesque Revival style. It is located on Water Street on the west side of the River Afan. It is a Grade II listed building.

Glan Afan Comprehensive School (Welsh: Ysgol Gyfun Glan Afan) was a mixed comprehensive school which served the town of Port Talbot, Wales, and its surrounding areas for 120 years. It was opened in 1896 as Port Talbot Intermediate School under the provisions of the Welsh Intermediate Education Act 1889. The school closed in July 2016 to facilitate the merger of Glan Afan itself, Cwrt Sart Comprehensive, Sandfields Comprehensive and Traethmelyn Primary School into the ultra-modern £40millon 'super-school', Ysgol Bae Baglan.

St Mary's Church, Aberavon, is an Anglican church in Port Talbot, South Wales. It is part of the Rectorial Benefice of Aberavon. It has been a Grade II listed building since 31 January 2000.The first mention of a church on this site was in 1199. The medieval church was rebuilt in the Gothic style in 1858-59 by the architects John Prichard and John Pollard Seddon. The tower was added to around 1870, and the north aisle was added in 1898 by an architect named G. E. Halliday.The alabaster and green marble reredos was designed in 1890 by another well-known partnership of ecclesiastical architects, Frederick R. Kempson and Charles Busteed Fowler, who carried out work in other South Wales churches such as St Catherine's Church, Canton, Cardiff, and St Donat's Church, Welsh St Donats. In 1927, a medieval piscina was placed in the chancel; it did not come from the original church but probably from a chapel elsewhere in the district.The most notable grave in the churchyard is that of Dic Penderyn, executed in 1831 for his role in the Merthyr Rising. A memorial was placed by local trade unionists in 1966.

The electoral ward of Port Talbot in Neath Port Talbot county borough covers the town centre of Port Talbot and the district of Pen-y-cae. The rest of the ward to the east consists of grassland and woodland. The electoral ward is coterminous with the Port Talbot community boundaries. Port Talbot is bounded by the wards of Baglan and Bryn and Cwmavon to the north; Taibach and Margam to the south; and Aberavon to the west and falls within the parliamentary constituency of Aberavon.

The Aberafan Shopping Centre is the only indoor shopping complex in Port Talbot, Wales. It currently has a floorspace of 24,100 m2 (259,000 sq ft) and houses over sixty stores on two levels, as well as the central library for Port Talbot. It was built in the 1970s by Star Dolphin Developments (part of English Property Corporation) and was refurbished in the late 1990s. It replaced parts of the old town centre, which was substantially demolished between 1971 and 1976 to accommodate a flyover section of the M4 motorway.When the centre opened, it contained a market area with stalls operated mainly by local traders. This replaced a covered market, originally established under the terms of the Aberavon Market Act in 1848. The library moved into the shopping centre in 1997, after being housed in temporary accommodation since the 1970s. Examples of high-profile stores in the shopping centre include: Home Bargains, Boots, JD Sports, Superdrug, Poundland, Clinton Cards, Iceland, New Look and Argos. There are also many smaller shops like Holland & Barrett.

Aberavon Town railway station was a railway station on the Rhondda and Swansea Bay line which ran in the Rhondda Valley and Swansea area on the Welsh coast in the county of Glamorgan. Opened as Aberavon the station's name was changed twice before the emerging as Aberavon Town in 1924.

Ebenezer Chapel, Aberavon (more correctly, "Ebenezer Baptist Church"), is a Baptist church in Port Talbot, Wales. Built in 1881, it is located in the Civic Square, where it is the only surviving building from the old Port Talbot town centre to have survived the wholesale demolition that preceded the construction of a new town centre during the mid-1970s; the address was formerly "Talbot Street". It has been a listed building since 1980.The building was designed in a "scarce Romanesque style" by George Morgan of Carmarthen, a noted architect of Baptist chapels, and was built on the site of an earlier chapel, dating from 1836.Services at the church have traditionally been conducted in the Welsh language but both Welsh and English are used. Located close to the civic centre, it is used by the local authority, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, for an annual carol service and other occasional events.

Port Talbot was one of the four local government districts of the county of West Glamorgan, Wales from 1974 to 1996. The borough was initially called Afan, changing its name to Port Talbot in 1986.

Port Talbot Power Station was a proposed 1,100–1,300 MW natural gas-fired power station in Port Talbot, situated in Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. A proposed 350 MW biomass power station would have been sited next door to it.

Nant Ffrwdwyllt (sometimes known as Nant Cwm Farteg) is a stream that runs through Cwm Dyffryn, within the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales, from the village of Bryn, through the village of Goytre and the district of Taibach in Port Talbot, to the sea. The stream was originally a tributary of the River Afan but was diverted in the 18th century into the ironworks at what was to become Port Talbot to provide a source of water. It now flows into Port Talbot Docks. Several streets are or have been named after it, notably the present-day Ffrwdwyllt Street in Taibach, where the stream runs close to St Theodore's Church and the Talbot Memorial Park. The name of the stream is translated into English as "wild brook"; this is thought to be because of the way the stream suddenly grows after heavy rain. This effect is attributed to the fact that the stream is approximately 9 kilometres long and passes down steep hills which quickly channel the rain that comes from the Atlantic.According to Cadw, a mill that once stood on the Ffrwdwyllt at Goytre was associated with the Grange of Hafod-y-porth, which belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Margam Abbey. Former coal levels in the valley have left industrial remains along the banks of the stream.
