Plainville, New York

Whig Hill is a historic home located near Plainville, Onondaga County, New York. The main house was built in 1833, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-bay, Greek Revival-style brick dwelling with a nearly flat roof. Whig Hill was the principal element within a listing Whig Hill and Dependencies, which included two barn clusters, a tenant house, and other outbuildings.: 5  The barn cluster north of Genesee Street, described in 1975, is no longer present, in 2009. The south barn remains. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Beaver Lake Nature Center is a 661-acre (2.67 km2) natural area located four miles (6.4 km) west of Baldwinsville, New York. The Nature Center is an Onondaga County Parks facility and is meant to expose visitors to a variety of outdoor experiences. The nature center is open year-round (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 7:30 a.m. to near dusk. There is a $5 per vehicle admission fee for visiting (2018). Ten miles (16 km) of trails allow people to explore the diverse habitats which can be found at the center. It also serves as an environmental educational facility with as many as 12,000 school children visiting each year. The year-round operation of the facility makes the outdoor experience available to a wide range of people. In summer months canoes and kayaks are available to rent. In spring and fall the lake serves as a migratory stop for thousands of ducks and Canada geese. The park is also opened in the winter with the trails used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Nature Center serves to enhance the appreciation, awareness, and understanding of the natural world for visitors of all ages. Beaver lake is supported by the not-for-profit Friends of Beaver Lake, Inc. This membership-based organization provides financial and volunteer support to the community Nature Center.

Jack's Reef is a hamlet in the Town of Van Buren, New York in Onondaga County, United States. It was developed around an inn where Old Route 31 (supplanted by modern NY Route 31) bent around a large oxbow in the Seneca River. Subsequently, a canal was cut approximately one mile to the north, which shortened the navigation route. Consequently, Jack's Reef lost virtually all commercial and much recreational traffic. The nearby Seneca River still attracted summer residents, however. Today year-round homes are being built nearby, as the hamlet is within commuting range of Syracuse.

Lysander is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 23,074. The town was named after Lysander, a Spartan military leader, by a clerk interested in the classics. Lying to the northwest of Syracuse, much of the town is suburban in character.

Memphis is a hamlet in the Town of Van Buren, west of Syracuse in Onondaga County, New York, United States. Because of its location on the southern town line of Van Buren, above the Towns of Elbridge and Camillus, the Memphis area can also be considered to extend into Elbridge and Camillus. A section of Memphis lies on Cross Lake and Seneca River. In the early 1800s, the hamlet was named "Canton". Sometime after the 1850s, the name was changed to the current "Memphis", presumably because Canton was already established. Now the name "Canton" refers to a small community between Memphis and Camillus. From 1825 to 1918, The Erie Canal ran through the north side of Memphis. The First Baptist Church of Memphis was also located in Memphis from 1815 to 2013.The Plainville Turkey Farm used to be in Memphis, which included a restaurant, which closed in February 2010. The small community is spread over a wide area due to the primary use of land for farming. Well known farms include a portion of Hourigan's Farms, the Hooper Farm, and a portion of Blumer's Farms. There is also an area known by locals as "The Kingdom," named for Kingdom Road. The road follows the east side of the Seneca River, traveling from Jack's Reef to State Route 31. Directly north of Memphis, past the hamlet of Ionia, lies a small unmarked community. Formerly called Sand Springs in the 1800s, the area is now more commonly known as Whisky Hollow. It is home to the Whiskey Hollow Nature Preserve, a rough road bridging Perry Road to West Dead Creek Road. The preserve has been relatively untouched in the past century. Within the preserve lies a natural spring, which the local community uses as a fresh source of water.

WOLF-FM (92.1 MHz) is a radio station serving the community of Baldwinsville, New York, in the Syracuse metropolitan area. The station is owned by Craig Fox and Sam Furco, through licensee FoxFur Communications, LLC, and broadcasts a country music format branded as 92.1 The Wolf.

WBVG (1050 kHz) was an AM radio station licensed to Baldwinsville, New York serving the Syracuse metropolitan area. WBVG was last owned by Leatherstocking Media Group and aired a 1950s - 1960s oldies radio format. The transmitter was on Hencle Boulevard (Route 631) in Baldwinsville.WBVG was powered at 2,500 watts by day. But because AM 1050 is a clear channel frequency, WBVG reduced power at night to only 19 watts to avoid interference. Outside of Baldwinsville, the 1050 frequency in Central New York at night is either occupied by WEPN New York City or CHUM Toronto, both 50,000 watt stations. They sometimes were heard over WBVG at night, even a mile or two from its transmitter.

The Oswego–Oneida Streets Historic District is a national historic district located at Baldwinsville, Onondaga County, New York. The district encompasses 32 contributing buildings on 50 acres (20 ha)s in a residential section of Baldwinsville. The district developed between about 1830 and 1920 and includes notable examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, and Gothic Revival residential architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and includes .

Van Buren is a town located in Onondaga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 14,367. The town is named after then-Senator Martin Van Buren, who would later become the eighth president of the United States. The town of Van Buren is located northwest of the city of Syracuse and is in the northwest part of the county. The portion of the town north and east of New York State Route 690 and south of the Seneca River is suburban in character, consisting primarily of single-family tract housing, some low-rise apartment buildings, park land, and some light industry. The rest of the town is primarily rural.
