Holyrood Secondary School is a Roman Catholic secondary school in the south-side of Glasgow, Scotland. It is notable for its comparatively large secondary school enrollment, having had over 2,000 pupils and 150 teaching staff. Holyrood is located near Crosshill railway station, Hampden Park, A728 and the new M74 motorway. Officially opened in 1936, the school's enrolment rapidly expanded amid the closure of several surrounding secondary schools in the city's south-side. To combat the surge in pupils attending Holyrood, the school underwent several refurbishments, most recently in the early 2000s which included the Holyrood Sports Centre. The school can accommodate more than 420 new 1st Year starts, the biggest intake of any secondary school in Scotland.In 2019, Holyrood RC Secondary School was ranked the 82nd best performing school in Scotland by the Scottish Government: 43 percent of pupils attained five or more awards at SCQF Level 6, the equivalent of Highers.

Hampden Park was a football ground in Glasgow, Scotland. The home ground of Queen's Park from 1873 until 1883, it was the first of three stadiums to bear the same name, and hosted the first-ever Scottish Cup final in 1874.

Crosshill is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated south of the River Clyde. It was an independent police burgh from 1871 to 1891 before being annexed by the City of Glasgow.

Hampden Park (Scottish Gaelic: Pàirc Hampden), often referred to as Hampden, is a football stadium in the Mount Florida area of Glasgow, Scotland. The 51,866-capacity venue serves as the national stadium of football in Scotland. It is the normal home venue of the Scotland national football team and was the home of club side Queen's Park for over a century. Hampden regularly hosts the latter stages of the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup competitions and has also been used for music concerts and other sporting events, such as when it was reconfigured as an athletics stadium for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. There were two 19th-century stadia called Hampden Park, built on different sites. A stadium on the present site was first opened on 31 October 1903. Hampden was the biggest stadium in the world when it was opened, with a capacity in excess of 100,000. This was increased further between 1927 and 1937, reaching a peak of 150,000. The record attendance of 149,415, for a Scotland v England match in 1937, is the European record for an international football match. Tighter safety regulations meant that the capacity was reduced to 81,000 in 1977. The stadium has been fully renovated since then, with the most recent work being completed in 1999. The stadium houses the offices of the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). Hampden has hosted prestigious sporting events, including three European Cup / Champions League finals, two Cup Winners' Cup finals and a UEFA Cup final. Hampden is a UEFA category four stadium and it is served by the nearby Mount Florida and King's Park railway stations.

Crosshill railway station is a railway station serving the Crosshill and Govanhill areas of Glasgow, Scotland. It is located on the Cathcart Circle Line but also has trains going to and from Neilston and Newton. Services are provided by ScotRail on behalf of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

Lesser Hampden is a football stadium in Mount Florida, Glasgow, Scotland, which is located immediately beside the western end of Hampden Park stadium.

The Scottish Football Hall of Fame is located at the Scottish Football Museum. Nominations are made each year by fans and a committee selects the inductees. The first inductions to the Hall of Fame were in November 2004 in a ceremony at Hampden Park. Brian Laudrup and Henrik Larsson became the first players from outside Scotland to be inducted, in 2006. Rose Reilly was the first woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, in 2007. As of October 2019, there had been 122 inductions to the Hall of Fame.

Cathkin Park was a football ground in the Crosshill area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Third Lanark from their foundation in 1872 until they moved to New Cathkin Park in 1903. It also hosted Scottish Cup final matches and the Scotland national team.

Dixon Halls, formerly Crosshill and Govanhill Burgh Hall, is a municipal structure in Cathcart Road, Glasgow, Scotland. The structure, which is used as a day care centre for elderly people, is a Category B listed building.

Govanhill Picture House based in Govanhill, Glasgow, was an Egyptian-themed cinema built in 1926 which was designed by architect Eric A. Sutherland and seated 1,200. It remained in use as a cinema until 1961 and then as a bingo hall till 1974. It was the warehouse and head office of John Greenlees Ltd shoe shops from the early 60s until late 1980s. Subsequently, the building was used as a warehouse.The building was re-roofed in 2012 due to its poor state of repair and general neglect.In 2018, plans were unveiled that the B-listed cinema was to be used again for its original purpose by Queer Classics Film Festival (QCFF). The event that took take place in August 2018 had the backing of Glasgow School of Art and University of Glasgow, the latter being where event organiser Lydia Honeybone is studying a postgraduate degree in Curatorial Practice. “I have long been fascinated by Govanhill Picture House, it’s been a dream of mine for years now to hold an event there and partially the reason I moved to the Southside"In September 2019, the building was used again as a cinema with the screening of the 1920s film, The Open Road. The event was co-organised by Lydia Honeybone and Shireen Taylor as Glasgow Artists’ Moving Image Studios (GAMIS).

Fireworks village, also known as Govan Colliery Houses, was a company village in Scotland belonging to the Dixon family who ran the Govan Iron Works and Govan Colliery. The inhabitants were chiefly coal miners and their families who worked in the Govan Colliery. The company also built a Methodist church and a school. At the time, its location was a short distance outside the City of Glasgow, the largest town in Scotland; no trace now remains in the 21st century, with the site occupied by the now inner-city neighbourhood of Govanhill (the village was roughly located at Bankhall Street at the Govanhill Picture House.)
