Nyord (Danish pronunciation: [ˈnyˌoɐ̯ˀ]) is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, southeast of Zealand, just north of Møn island. Nyord covers an area of approximately 5 km², although only 1.2 km² is cultivatable moraine, while the remaining 4 km² is salt-meadow which is used for summer grazing, but is flooded during the winter. The island is reached by a narrow bridge from the larger island of Møn. The bridge was constructed in 1968 and replaced the post boat Røret which had been in service since 1902. The boat was not large enough for animals such as cattle or horses, which had to swim alongside the boat.
