Horton Point Light

The Town of Southold is one of ten towns in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is located in the northeastern tip of the county, on the North Fork of Long Island. The population was 23,732 at the 2020 census. The town also contains a hamlet named Southold, which was settled in 1640.

Southold is a station along the Main Line (Greenport Branch) of the Long Island Rail Road. It is located on Youngs Avenue and Traveler Street, just north of NY 25 (Main Road) in Southold, New York, and is the last LIRR station to be located north of NY 25. Southold is the Long Island Rail Road's least used station, receiving 10 riders per week.

The Henry W. Prince Building, also known as Prince Store, is a historic commercial building located at Southold in Suffolk County, New York. It was built in 1874 and is a two-story, six-bay brick building with a front gabled roof. The building is currently owned by the Southold Historical Society and its affiliated gift shop. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Southold Historic District is a national historic district located at the hamlet of Southold in Suffolk County, New York. The district has 86 contributing buildings, one contributing site, and two contributing objects. The majority are residential buildings built either with a heavy timber frame or balloon frame construction and range in date from about 1656 to about 1938. The district also includes three prominent religious facilities and educational facilities.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Samuel Landon House, also known as the Thomas Moore House, is a historic home located in Southold in Suffolk County, New York. It is an L-shaped, 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, New England Colonial–style residence with a central fireplace and a cross-gabled roof. It is part of a museum complex operated by the Southold Historical Society. In 2019, Southold Historical Society installed a permanent exhibition titled "Slavery in Southold" in the Samuel Landon House. Five enslaved people lived in the house circa 1760. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Joseph Nelson Hallock House, also known as the Ann Currie-Bell House, is a historic home located at Southold in Suffolk County, New York. It is a two-story, five bay Shingle Style dwelling with a cross gabled, gambrel style cedar shingled roof. It is part of an outdoor museum complex operated by the Southold Historical Society.The house was built in 1900 for Joseph N. Hallock.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Town Doctors' House and Site is a historic home located at Southold in Suffolk County, New York. The house was built about 1720, and expanded in about 1880, 1930, and 2002–2003. The house is a 2+1⁄2-story, northern-Colonial–style building with a cross-gabled roof and central chimney. The site includes Bilberry Swamp, where the earliest Euro-American occupation occurred around 1664. There is evidence on the site of pre-17th-century occupation by Native Americans.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Custer Observatory is an astronomical observatory located in Southold, New York. It is owned and operated by the Custer Institute. Facing Peconic Bay and Shelter Island, Custer's location is host to some of the darkest skies on Long Island as a result of the comparatively lower levels of light pollution in the area.

Southold is a census-designated place (CDP) that generally corresponds to the hamlet by the same name in the Town of Southold in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The CDP population was 5,748 at the 2010 census.

Peconic was a station stop along the Greenport Branch of the Long Island Rail Road in Peconic, New York. The station was originally built as Hermitage station on May 1, 1848 (although some sources claim it dates back to 1844) but was renamed Peconic on the June 1876 timetable. In August 1876 a second Peconic Station replaced the former one, which was built on the south side of the tracks and on the west side of Peconic Lane. This building also served as the post office. That station was razed in April 1942 and replaced with a shelter along the platform. The post office moved to the grocery store next door where it remains to this day. When Cutchogue station was closed in June 1962, the two nearest replacements were Mattituck station, which still exists today, and Peconic station, which ceased service in 1970.

Goldsmith's Inlet is a tidal inlet located in the Town of Southold on the North Fork of Long Island, New York in the United States. The Peconic or Goldsmith Inlet Grist Mill had its beginnings in 1836, when plans were first made for its construction.
