Crowlands railway station was a proposed station on the Great Eastern Main Line near Romford, London, to be sited between Chadwell Heath and Romford, just west of Jutsums Lane where the railway passes over the road on a narrow bridge. It was first proposed in 1900 by the Great Eastern Railway and platform foundations were laid, but construction was never completed. The London and North Eastern Railway, which inherited the route after the 1923 grouping of railway companies, resurrected the plans for Crowlands station in 1935 as part of their electrification plans, but nothing came about and the plans were ultimately shelved after the Second World War. Thus, today there is a relatively significant distance of 2 miles 31 chains (3.8 km) on the line between Chadwell Heath and Romford stations. The platform foundations at Crowlands are still in existence in the undergrowth, although they are not visible from street level as the railway is on an embankment. Railway infrastructure in the area that was completed included a signal box just west of the station site, which closed in 1949 as part of the Shenfield electrification project, as well an overhead electrification depot, to the east of Jutsums Lane.

Becontree Heath (also spelt Beacontree Heath) is an open space in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The name has also been applied to the local area, in particular to the RM8 postal district.

Chadwell Heath is a town in East London, England. It is split between the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and the London Borough of Redbridge, around 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Romford and 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Ilford, and 12 miles (19 km) north-east of Charing Cross.

Romford Greyhound Stadium, referred to as Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium is a greyhound racing track located in Romford town centre in the London Borough of Havering in east London which is owned and operated by the Ladbrokes Coral group. The stadium has a capacity for over 1,700 people. The stadium has won several awards including the British Greyhound Racing Board's 'Racecourse of the Year' award in 1998 and again in 2003. Following the closure of Wimbledon Stadium in March 2017, it is one of only two stadiums left in London or Greater London, the other being Crayford Stadium.

Dagenham was a local government district in south west Essex, England from 1926 to 1965 covering the parish of Dagenham. Initially created as an urban district, it was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1938. It was established to deal with the increase in population and the change from rural to urban area caused by the building of the Becontree estate by the London County Council and the subsequent movement of people from Inner London. Peripheral to London, the district formed part of the Metropolitan Police District and London Traffic Area. It now forms the eastern sections of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and the London Borough of Redbridge in Greater London.

CU London is a Higher Education institute owned and governed by Coventry University. CU London began offering courses to students in September 2017. It currently operates out of two sites, one in the former Dagenham Civic Centre in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and another in the Mitre Passage building in the Greenwich Peninsula. It includes Coventry University's second and third campuses in the capital alongside Coventry University London.

The Civic Centre in Dagenham is a former municipal building in Becontree Heath, an area within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The building was designed in the modern style by the British architect Ernest Berry Webber in 1936 and was opened the following year. The local authority, Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council, occupied the building until 2016 when it was vacated and leased to CU London, a new university, the following year. It was designated as a Grade II listed building in 1981.

The Warren School, previously known as Warren Comprehensive School, is a mixed secondary school in Chadwell Heath in Greater London. The School is an 11 to 19 provider with an independent sixth form. The school is part of the Loxford School Trust along with Loxford School, Tabor Academy, Abs Cross, Gains and Aldborough Primary.

Robert Clack School is a sixth form entry comprehensive school in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Russell Taylor is the Headteacher of Robert Clack School. He is a former pupil of the school and joined the teaching staff in 2002. As the Senior Deputy Head from 2008 until August 2017, Taylor worked closely with the previous Head before being appointed as Headteacher in September 2017.

Marks (or Mark's Hall) was a manor house located near Marks Gate at the northern tip of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in London, England, the house standing on what is now Warren Hall Farm, about two miles west of Romford. The name Marks (historically Markes) is believed to have been derived from the de Merk family who built the original manor in the 14th century. The manor house was demolished in 1808.

Dagenham was a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament that elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It was replaced at the 2010 general election largely by Dagenham and Rainham.
