KRUA (88.1 FM) is a non-commercial educational college radio station in Anchorage, Alaska. The station is operated by students at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and is the only student-run station in Anchorage. UAA students can tune in to KRUA each day to hear about new opportunities on their campus. From the main studios on UAA's campus to the transmitter in Eagle River, the radio station reaches a significant portion of Alaska’s South Central region. KRUA retains a large and diverse audience both locally by radio, and globally through online streaming which provides their Sponsors with broad-range exposure. Home to "Alaska's Hottest Hits", KFAT is one of the highest-rated radio stations in Alaska.The station was assigned the call letters KWQJ on October 3, 1990. On February 7, 1997, the station changed its call sign to the current KFAT.

KYKA (104.9 FM) is a radio station serving the Anchorage, Alaska, area. The station is currently owned by the Educational Media Foundation. KMVV was the eleventh station in the United States to adopt the Alan Burns-consulted MOViN' Rhythmic Adult Contemporary format. In November 2011, the station dropped the Rhythmic AC format and began stunting with Christmas music as "Rudolph Radio". The rhythmic AC format returned briefly on December 31, but then the station went off the air at midnight on January 1, 2012. KYKA was sold to Educational Media Foundation in December 2012, and the station adopted the Air1 worship music format. On March 11, 2013, KMVV changed their call letters to KYKA.

Chugiak High School is a public high school located in Chugiak, Anchorage, Alaska, and a part of the Anchorage School District. Chugiak's mascot is the Mustang and the school colors are blue, black, and white. In 2005, Chugiak's student population was split as half their students went to the new Eagle River High School. As of 2020, it has a student enrollment of 905 and 47 teachers.

Chacon was a 72 ft (22 m) dry docked wooden vessel and roadside curiosity in Chugiak, Alaska, United States. The former cannery tender occupied a parcel at 17049 Old Glenn Highway until March 11, 2022, and served as a memorial to her former owner, Thillman Wallace of Chugiak (1932–2015).

Eagle River is a community within the Municipality of Anchorage situated on the Eagle River, for which it is named, between Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) and Chugach State Park in the Chugach Mountains. Its ZIP code is 99577. Settled by homesteaders, Eagle River has been annexed to the Municipality of Anchorage since the 1970s—a relationship that is, at times, complicated. On the one hand, Eagle River functions as an Anchorage suburb--many Eagle River residents work, shop, and participate in community life in the Anchorage Bowl. On the other hand, the community is itself a significant business hub between Wasilla and Anchorage, offering shopping, restaurants, recreation and employment. Much of the community is made up of residents from nearby Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Secession efforts have from time to time gained traction by residents who would like Eagle River legally regarded as a separate community. Eagle River also has a close relationship with its neighboring community to the north, Chugiak, with which it shares some history. If Eagle River were not part of the Municipality of Anchorage, it would be classified as one of the five largest cities in Alaska.
