Heath, Cardiff

Heath (Welsh: Y Mynydd Bychan) is the name of an electoral ward in the north of the city of Cardiff, Wales, which covers its namesake community, Heath. The ward elects three county councillors to the County Council of the City and County of Cardiff.

Birchgrove (Welsh: Llwynfedw) is a district of the city of Cardiff stretching between Llanishen and the Gabalfa interchange, along the A469 Caerphilly road. It centres on a crossroads dominated by the Birchgrove pub which also lies between Heath and Whitchurch. Heath Park and University Hospital of Wales adjoin. It differentiates from the ward of Heath in which it lies, by being a busy, hustle and bustle type of area, with rows of small shops and eateries and for the most part being dominated by Terraced housing. The area is served by Birchgrove railway station on the Coryton Line, and by the Capital City Green bus service.

Cardiff North (Welsh: Gogledd Caerdydd) is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Anna McMorrin of the Labour Party.The seat has been relative to others a marginal seat since 2001 as well as a swing seat as its winner's majority has not exceeded 8% of the vote since the 14.3% majority won in that year. The seat has changed political allegiance twice since that year.

Cardiff North (Welsh: Gogledd Caerdydd) is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of eight constituencies in the South Wales Central electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole.

Mynachdy (from Welsh 'monastery') is a district of the city of Cardiff, Wales. Mynachdy is situated between Gabalfa, Birchgrove and Cathays. Mynachdy is often paired with neighbouring Gabalfa, and shares its councillors. It is close to a few universities such as Cardiff University and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, as well as student accommodation.

The All Nations Centre is a conference centre and events venue in the Gabalfa district of Cardiff, Wales. The centre is associated with and located in the same building as the All Nations Church which was established at the site in 1991. It frequently hosts events for public sector bodies and political groups.

University Hospital of Wales (Welsh: Ysbyty Athrofaol Cymru) (UHW), also known as the Heath Hospital, is a major 1,000-bed hospital in the Heath district of Cardiff, Wales. UHW is a teaching hospital of Cardiff University School of Medicine. Construction started in 1963, with the official opening in 1971. It was Europe's first fully integrated hospital and medical school, at a cost of £22 million. The hospital is the third largest University Hospital in the UK, and the largest hospital in Wales. The hospital was previously managed by Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust. In 2009 the Trust was dissolved and the hospital is now managed by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Gabalfa is a proposed train station on the Merthyr line in the Gabalfa district of Cardiff, Wales. The station would be on the South Wales Metro and be part of the Wales & Borders franchise. It is planned to open in 2028. It will be located on an old coal yard next to the existing railway. This followed significant local petitioning for a railway station from Gabalfa and Mynachdy.

Ty Glas railway station is a railway station serving business and industrial sites in Llanishen and Heath, Cardiff, Wales. It is located on the Coryton Line 3.7 miles (6.0 km) north of Cardiff Central. Ty Glas is 17 chains (340 m) from the next station along at Birchgrove. The Coryton branch Line is a single-track, though unlike other stations on the branch, Ty Glas has entrances at both the north and south of the station; access from the south requires passengers to cross the track to reach the platform sited on the north side of the track. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network.

Birchgrove railway station is a railway station serving Birchgrove, Cardiff, Wales. It is located on the Coryton Line 3.75 miles (6.04 km) north of Cardiff Central, with the station situated beneath the A469. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales as part of the Valley Lines network. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1929.

Maindy (Welsh: Maendy, meaning Stone House) is a district of the city of Cardiff, Wales. Its boundaries are not formally recognised by Cardiff Council, and the district falls within the Cathays ward and Gabalfa. A notable facility in the area is the Maindy Centre consisting of a cycle track and swimming pool. The cycle track was used in the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. The area is served by the Capital City Green bus route.

Gabalfa (English: , Welsh pronunciation: [ɡaˈbalva]) is a district and community in the north of the city of Cardiff, capital of Wales. It is characterised by a four-lane fly over road at the Gabalfa Interchange, where the A48 road meets the A470 road (North Road) which leads from Cardiff to northern Wales, and the A469 road (Caerphilly Road). The name is derived from the Welsh 'Ceubalfa', which is literally translated as 'place of the boat'. It was formerly the site of a ferry crossing across the River Taff, upon which a school is now built. The area was first heavily developed in the 1880s, with most of the characteristic terraced housing originating from the next 30 years of construction.The area around St. Joseph's Church near to Companies House is known as 'the Colonies' due to the number of street names after former British colonies, including Australia Road, Newfoundland Road and many more.
