York City Arms Sports Club is a Grade II listed former sports club, originally a public house, on Fawcett Street in York, England. The building is dated to around 1830 in its official listing, and The Press reports that it opened as the City Arms pub in 1829. After operating for more than a century, it was taken over by local sports clubs in 1976 and used as their headquarters until its closure in 2001, after which it was converted into flats.

York Barbican is an indoor entertainment venue located in York, England. Named after the nearby barbican attached to Walmgate Bar, the venue hosts a busy calendar of live music, comedy and sports, as well as business events and conferences. It has a 1,500 seating capacity and a 1,900 standing capacity.York Barbican is the host venue for the second biggest-ranking snooker tournament, the UK Championship, and has done so from 2001 to 2006, and then from 2011 onwards. The centre is located on the southern end of York city centre, opposite the city walls.

The Edinburgh Arms is a historic public house on Fishergate in York, England. The building was constructed in about 1830, when Fishergate, the street leading south out of the city centre, was built up. In 1937, it was converted into the Edinburgh Arms pub. In the 1960s, its rooms were often used as accommodation by musicians playing at the Rialto across the road, including The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Roy Orbison. More recently, it has hosted gigs and serves food. In 2023, after the York Barbican was evacuated, most of the players from the UK Snooker Championship spent the evening in the pub. The pub is also said to be home to two ghosts. The building was Grade II listed in 1997. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick, with a timber ground-floor front infilled with herringbone brick, and slate roofs. It has three storeys and a five-bay front, with the centre bay projecting slightly forward. To the right is a single-storey extension. The front centre has double doors with a pediment above. The windows are sashes, and there are bands at first and second-floor level.

St George's Roman Catholic church is located in the centre of the city of York, England, on George Street in the Diocese of Middlesbrough. The Church was designed by Joseph Hansom and was the first pro-Cathedral of the Diocese of Beverley.

Fishergate Primary School is a historic school on Fishergate, immediately south of York city centre in North Yorkshire, England. The York School Board commissioned Walter Brierley to design a new school building on Fishergate, to accommodate 180 pupils. Work started in 1893, and the school opened in August 1895. The school building was Grade II listed in 1997. In 2022, two Victorian rocking horses were discovered in the school's basement, then restored for the use of current pupils. By that time, the roll had risen to 300 children. In 2025, it was the first primary school in York to be designated as a School of Sanctuary. The building is constructed of orange-brown brick, with dressings in orange brick, some of which is moulded, and slate roofs. It has two storeys and the front has a nine-bay central wing, with three-bay crosswings either side. Behind is a tall six-bay hall range, and at the rear is a 16-bay two-storey range. Most of the windows are sashes, while the hall has dormer windows. The first floor windows at the front are separate by brick pilasters, with a brick frieze and cornice above. The central entrance has a round arch with a lion keystone and a panel above with the Royal Arms and the date "1894".

The Masons Arms is a pub on Fishergate, immediately south of the city centre of York, in England. The Masons Arms was first recorded in 1835, when George Tilney successfully applied for a licence. It had a bar, tap room and smoke room, and also offered one bedroom for visitors. The pub was demolished and rebuilt in 1936, in a Tudor revival style. The new building was designed by James Knight, who was working for Biscomb and Ferrey. It is of two storeys, the ground floor of stone, and the first floor of brick, with timbers inlaid to resemble timber framing. There are two front entrances, one either side of the central bay, with identical porches. At each end of the front is a large corbel, one depicting the White Rose of York, and the other five lions, taken from the city's coat of arms. The ground floor bar area has panelling and a fireplace dating from about 1830, which was taken from the gatehouse of York Castle, that having been demolished in 1935. The lounge bar and sitting room were combined after World War II, but the public bar remains a separate space. The building was Grade II listed in 1996. 77 Walmgate is a timber framed building in the city centre of York, in England. The oldest part of the building is the 15th century cross wing, the west part of the current building, with its gable end to Walmgate. A hall range was added in the 16th century, and this is the eastern part of the current building. Its timber frame is exposed, and its ogee braces are typical of the period. At some point, the ground floor was rebuilt in brick, but the upper floor is still jettied over it.A wing was added at the rear in the early 18th century, and the building was altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. Inside, many historic features survive, including wooden panelling, a reset staircase, and a fireplace on the first floor.The building was grade II* listed in 1954. In 1957, it was purchased by the York Conservation Trust, who let it as a shop with a flat above.

Walmgate is a street in the city centre of York, in England. During the Medieval period, the street was the site of a seafissh and cattle market. Walmgate Bar, was involved in the Siege of York in 1644, during the First English Civil War. During the 20th century, many of the older buildings were cleared away and newer structures put up.

The Bowes Morrell House is a historic building on Walmgate in the city centre of York, in England. The house was one of four for which a licence was granted in 1396 to construct in the churchyard of St Peter-le-Willows. It may have been used as a vicarage for the church, or alternatively for St Margaret's Church. In later years, the building was a cheap lodging house for travelling workers. By the late 19th-century, it was owned by the O'Hara family, bought out by the Kilmartin family in the 1930s. It was nicknamed the "doss house", and had a sign above the door reading "good lodgings down this passage", despite its reputation for poor-quality accommodation.The house is timber framed, with two stories, and originally had an L plan, with the main section being a hall 20 feet long and 10-and-a-half feet wide. An extension was built in the 16th century, giving the building a square plan. In the late-17th century, a further extension was added in brick to the south end of the original building, while the current second floor over the hall dates from the 18th century. The crown post roof survives, as does much of its timber framing, although some has been renewed.The house was partially restored in 1932. In 1954, it was Grade II* listed, and in 1966, it was bought and more thoroughly restored by the York Civic Trust. It renamed the building after John Bowes Morrell, one of its founders. It was later occupied by the Council for British Archaeology. In 2004, it was purchased by the York Conservation Trust, and from 2012 it was occupied by the Cyrenians drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity.

Raindale Mill is a reconstructed early 19th-century flour mill which was moved from Raindale Valley on the North York Moors to the grounds of York Castle Museum in the 1960s.
