Town of East Hampton Airport (IATA: HTO, ICAO: KJPX, FAA LID: JPX) (prior to May 19, 2022 its name was East Hampton Airport and its codes were KHTO/HTO) is an airport located in the Wainscott section of East Hampton, New York, just west of East Hampton Village. The airport is owned and operated by the Town of East Hampton.Effective May 19, 2022, the airport went from a public to a private airport according to FAA records. However, enforcement of the change of the private rules was delayed by a temporary injunction at the request of aviation users of the airport. On October 19, 2022, Paul J. Baisley, Jr., Presiding Justice of the Supreme Court Civil Parts of the 10th Judicial District in Suffolk County, New York, made the order permanent because the town did not analyze the proposed restrictions under New York's State Environmental Quality Review Act or submit a study in compliance with the federal Airport Noise and Capacity Act of 1990. The town is debating whether to appeal the ruling. In the meantime the new codes and the FAA documents indicating it is a private airport remain in place.The airport, which opened in 1937, predates all of the major airports on Long Island including those in New York City and has long been used by celebrities, Wall Streeters, and the wealthy visiting the Hamptons. The airport's commercial commuter traffic is mostly between East Hampton and New York City, which is 100 miles away. The airport codes changed on May 19, 2022, from KHTO to KJPX. The airport name also changed from East Hampton Airport to Town of East Hampton Airport. This was part of a plan to convert the airport from a public airport to a Town-owned private airport and the FAA description of the airport now says it is private. The move to restrict general aviation use was blocked by a last-minute restraining order to sort out numerous legal suits. However the code and name change were approved by the FAA and put on official maps.The move to privatize the airport would permit the airport to get prior permission for aircraft to fully use the airport's facilities. The closure is aimed at controlling a dramatic increase since 2014 in commuter helicopter traffic after Blade made it much easier for individuals to book seats on chartered helicopters at a set price and schedule. The town allowed FAA grants to expire in September 2021 and that cleared the way for the Town rather than the FAA to govern the airport. The Town earlier had lost court cases to impose its rules including a curfew since the FAA rules prohibited the move. The move avoids the calls to close the airport altogether. Helicopter flights take 32 minutes between Manhattan and the airport while driving time from Manhattan via the Long Island Expressway and the two-lane Montauk Highway can take 3 hours or more.

Wainscott is a census-designated place (CDP) that roughly corresponds to the hamlet with the same name in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, United States, on the South Fork of Long Island. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP population was 650. The CDP was created for the 2000 census.

The Briar Patch Road Historic District is a historic district in East Hampton, New York that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. In 1988, it included seven contributing buildings.The district covers 30 acres (12 ha) at the End of Briar Patch Rd. along Georgica Pond in East Hampton.It includes six houses: Augustus Thomas House Lawrence Aspinwall House John Heywood Roudebush House Shephard Krech House East, a Colonial Revival house designed by architect Arthur C. Jackson H. H. Abbott's Servant Quarters Howard Ogden Wood House It is one of 8 historic districts and 24 individual properties covered in the Village of East Hampton Multiple Resource Area study of 1988.

Jericho Historic District is a national historic district located at East Hampton, New York in Suffolk County, New York. The district includes three contributing buildings. They are three early 19th century, Federal style residences; the remnants of a historic settlement known as "Jericho." All are built of heavy timber-frame construction with shingled exterior sheathing.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Bunshaft Residence, sometimes called the Travertine House was an iconic modernist home designed by architect Gordon Bunshaft for himself and his wife on a 2.4-acre (0.97 ha) lot on the shore of Georgica Pond in East Hampton, New York. It was designed in 1962 and completed in 1963. It was one of the few residences designed by Bunshaft.

Georgica Pond is a 290-acre (1.2 km2) coastal lagoon on the west border of East Hampton Village and Wainscott, New York, and was the site of a Summer White House of Bill Clinton in 1998 and 1999. The lagoon is separated by a 50-foot (15 m) sandbar and is managed by the East Hampton Trustees who monitor a cycle of draining the lagoon and replenishing it with Atlantic Ocean water. The Lagoon consists of 6 finger like coves shooting out from the main body of water, Georgica Cove, Eel Creek, Goose Creek, Talmage Creek, Seabury Creek, and Jones Creek. Celebrities on its banks include Steven Spielberg, Ronald Perelman, developer Harry Macklowe and formerly Martha Stewart and Calvin Klein.Bill and Hillary Clinton stayed at the Spielberg home during the summer vacations in 1998 and 1999. Rumors circulated in 1998 that the Secret Service had drained the pond looking for submarines after the lagoon drained shortly after Clinton's visit. Groyne jetties at the pond have been accused of causing beach erosion in Southampton, New York as they are thought to interrupt the normal east to west flow of sand in the longshore drift. Dunehampton unsuccessfully attempted to incorporate in part to have legal standing in the debate. Likewise, Sagaponack, New York incorporated for the same reason. In the 1960s and 1970s, Georgica Pond was involved in a tradition known as "letting" that was carried out by local Indigenous peoples. This entails discharging fresh water from the pond into a bay or ocean. This was an issue primarily because it was thought to disturbs the pond's ecosystem and lower the water table in the area. This addition of saltwater and anadromous species into the pond could be detrimental to the Pond's living ecosystem. However, in the Georgica Pond case, "letting" done in the late 1980s and 1990s relieved flooding and made the pond more ecologically sound. It was found that letting seemed to be an overall benefit to the pond's ecology. It was also found that letting made flooding less frequent and lessened the magnitude of the flood.Georgica Pond is where the famed Grey Gardens estate is located. A sandy area near the pond is a nesting ground for the piping plover.

Joseph Sedacca Residence or Sedacca House in Northwest Harbor, New York is the third residential house designed by the American architect Charles Gwathmey (1938–2009).The house, the curtilage of which covers 3 acres, was built by John Caramagna in 1968 is surrounded by tall white pine trees and dogwoods. It is the first modernist beach residence designed by the American architect Charles Gwathmey. After the 1100-square-feet house was built in 1968, the exterior combination with geometric shapes and blocks, plus its interior abundance use of glasses and steels with a stylish spiral staircase, made it stand out in a neighborhood dominated by shingle style Cape Cod houses. Sedacca House was frequently the background of wedding photos and appeared on the cover pages and articles of both American and other fashion and architecture magazines. In 1968, Sedacca House won the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Honor Award. In Gwathmey's words, "[It] broke the mold of the vernacular, shingle-style house and showed for the first time a modern house that was not imitative or historicist.” The Sedacca House has been sold a few times. Still, it receives significant local concern about added alteration and global attention as a distinguished modernist architecture in East Hampton.

Thomas Strong House is a historic home located at Wainscott in Suffolk County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, L-shaped, gable-roofed, cedar shingle clad structure originally built about 1695 and continually lived in by eight generations of Thomas Strong's descendants.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Sag Harbor State Golf Course is 48.8-acre (197,000 m2), 9-hole golf facility is located in the middle of a 341-acre (1.38 km2) parcel known as the Barcelona Neck Natural Resources Management Area. The golf course is entirely located in the town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The course first opened in 1926 and was run by a group of volunteers for over half a century. The property was acquired by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in 1989. The course was taken over by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in 1997.

Wainscott Windmill is an historic windmill on Georgica Association grounds in Wainscott, New York in the Town of East Hampton. Georgica Association grounds are both within Wainscott and the Village of East Hampton to the east. Historically, it is known as one of the most frequently-moved windmills on the east end. It was added to the National Historic Register in 1978.

Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery is a cemetery in East Hampton, New York, that is the burial ground for the paternal ancestors and relatives of First Lady of the United States Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The cemetery on Cedar Street north of the village is associated with Most Holy Trinity (formerly Saint Philomena) Roman Catholic Church in East Hampton although it is a mile north of the church. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who was born nearby at Southampton Hospital, spent her summers until age 10 at her grandfather's home called Lasata. She is buried not at Most Holy Trinity but next to her first husband, President John F. Kennedy, in Arlington National Cemetery.

The district includes 19 contributing buildings; 10 principal buildings and nine outbuildings. It is a rural enclave of residences built between about 1750 and 1921.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
