National Bank House is a commercial skyscraper located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, completed in 1978, designed by architects Godfrey and Spowers. The National Bank of Australia, later the National Australia Bank, made it their headquarters on completion.Located near the crest of the western hill of Bourke Street, the skyscraper was built in the mid 1970s as a speculative office tower, which was fully occupied by the National Bank of Australia as their headquarters. In 1982 they merged with Commercial Banking Company of Sydney to form the National Australia Bank, known as the NAB. In 2004, the NAB moved their global head offices to 700 - 800 Bourke Street, "National @ Docklands", both located in the Docklands precinct of Melbourne, but the bank still remains a full tenant of National Bank House. In 2009, the building was fully refurbished by then owner ISPT in order to increase energy efficiency to 5 stars, and the ground level was rebuilt with a new lobby, refurbished rear plaza cafes and street canopy designed by John Wardle architects.National Bank House reaches 161 metres in height, and comprises 40 storeys of offices. At the time of its completion in 1978, it was the third-tallest building in Melbourne; the commercial building is currently the 43rd tallest in the city.

Parks Victoria was established in December 1996 as a statutory authority, reporting to the Victorian Minister for Environment and Climate Change. The Parks Victoria Act 2018 updates the previous act, Parks Victoria Act 1998. Under the new Act Parks Victoria is responsible for managing over '...4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria’s landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria’s wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria’s coastline'.

AMP Square (527–535 Bourke Street) is a skyscraper situated in Melbourne, Australia, located on the corner of Bourke and Williams Streets in the Melbourne CBD. Designed by US firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with local firm Bates Smart McCutcheon, and completed in 1969, it was briefly the tallest in the city, and is noted for its use of solid sculpted forms bringing a sense of monumentality to tall buildings.

The Old High Court Building is a Heritage Council of Victoria and National Heritage List listed building in Little Bourke Street, Melbourne. The High Court of Australia sat at the building from 1928 to 1980, and the was the location of its registry from 1928 to 1973.

The Supreme Court (Building), is a court building located at 192-228 William Street in Melbourne, Australia. It is part of a complex of buildings which, together with the Supreme Court Library and Court of Appeal, are known as the Melbourne Law Courts. It is currently the home to the Supreme Court of Victoria, the most senior court in the state of Victoria, and inferior only to the High Court of Australia. The Supreme Court has occupied the site since its first sitting in February 1884.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in the Australian state of Victoria. Founded in 1852, it is a superior court of common law and equity, with unlimited and inherent jurisdiction within the state. The Supreme Court comprises two divisions: the Trial Division, which oversees its original jurisdiction, and the Court of Appeal, which deals with its appellate jurisdiction, and is frequently referred to as a court in its own right. Although the Supreme Court is theoretically vested with unlimited jurisdiction, it generally only hears, at trial, criminal cases in instances of murder, manslaughter or treason, and civil cases where the statement of claim is in excess of the Magistrates' Court limit of $100,000. The court hears appeals from the County Court, as well as limited appeals from the Magistrates' Court. Decisions of the Supreme Court are appealable to the High Court of Australia. The building itself is on the Victorian Heritage Register.

Melbourne Savage Club is a private Australian gentlemen's club founded in 1894 and named after the poet, Richard Savage. Bohemian in spirit, the club was to bring together literary men, and those immediately connected or sympathising with literature, the arts, sport or science. AON Centre (Royal Insurance Group Building) is a commercial office complex located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at 430-444 Collins Street, right in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. A product of a rigorous design process from Australian architecture firm Yuncken Freeman Architects in 1962, the building undertook a two-year construction period and in 1965 it was first opened revealing a 70.00m high structure that spanned 18-storey towards the Melbourne skyline.

Bank Place is a street in Melbourne, Australia. It is a laneway running roughly north-south between Collins Street and Little Collins Street in the central business district. Located in the heart of the financial sector, Bank Place features many pre-war buildings dating from the 1860s through to the 1920s. The precinct is subject to heritage restrictions and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Bank Place is home to several bars, cafes and eateries that serve many of the nearby office workers. Many of the taller heritage buildings have been converted into loft style apartments. The lane also includes several ornate heritage lamp posts and bluestone alleys.

The Netherlands Indies Government Information Service (NIGIS) was a civil secret service and propaganda organisation based in Australia, during and after World War II. NIGIS was affiliated with the Netherlands East Indies Forces Intelligence Service (NEFIS) and the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration (NICA). Conrad Helfrich, commander of Dutch forces in the Netherlands East Indies, attempted to have NIGIS merged with NEFIS, for which he had responsibility. Helfrich's attempts were resisted by Hubertus van Mook, acting Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, who wished NIGIS to retain its civil status rather than be absorbed by the military apparatus.The service was established in April 1942, and was based in Melbourne, on the tenth floor of the Temple Court building at 422 Collins Street. In July 1944, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands decreed that a government in exile be established at Camp Columbia, a former United States Army camp located in Wacol, Queensland. The Melbourne-based agencies NIGIS, NEFIS and NICA all moved to Wacol to support the new administration.

The Queen Street massacre was a mass shooting which occurred on 8 December 1987 at the Australia Post offices at 191 Queen Street in Melbourne, Victoria. University dropout Frank Vitkovic entered the building on the pretext of visiting a friend, and fired on office workers at random with an illegally modified M1 carbine, killing eight and injuring five. After being disarmed, he crawled from an 11th-floor window and died on impact. Several possible motives were suggested. He had once received counselling. He had failed to build relationships with girls. His tennis-playing success had been interrupted by a serious knee injury. And the results of a Scientology test revealed that he "had hit rock bottom", which may have worsened his depression.

The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a conservative non-profit free market public policy think tank based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It advocates free market economic policies such as free markets, privatisation, deregulation of state-owned enterprises, trade liberalisation, deregulation of workplaces as well as climate change denial, abolition of the minimum wage, criticism of socialism, and repeal of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.The IPA was founded during World War II by businessmen in response to the growing power of the Labor Party and international socialism, and has typically aligned with, and supported, the Liberal Party in politics. It has in the past funded and created advertising campaigns for anti-Labor candidates, and has been described as a "satellite" of the Liberal Party.
