Chiasso

Chiasso railway station (Italian: Stazione di Chiasso) is a station owned by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS). It serves the town of Chiasso, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland, and is also a border station between Switzerland and Italy.The station is both the southern terminus of the Gotthard railway (owned and operated by SBB CFF FFS), and the northern terminus of the Milan–Chiasso railway (owned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and operated by Trenitalia). It is situated a few metres from the border, with the eastern section of Platform 1 being located on Italian territory, and is separated from the Italian city of Como by twin railway tunnels through the Monte Olimpino.

Cavallasca was a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Milan and about 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of Como, on the border with Switzerland. It's a frazione of San Fermo della Battaglia since 2017. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,816 and an area of 2.7 square kilometres (1.0 sq mi).

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,255 and an area of 3.1 square kilometres (1.2 sq mi).With della Battaglia meaning "of the battle", the town is named after the battle which took place there between Garibaldi's Hunters of the Alps (Cacciatori delle Alpi) and Austrian militaries in 1859. San Fermo della Battaglia borders the following municipalities: Como, Montano Lucino.
