Andrei Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, was assassinated by Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, an off-duty Turkish police officer, at an art exhibition in Ankara, Turkey on the evening of 19 December 2016. The assassination took place after several days of protests in Turkey over Russian involvement in the Syrian Civil War and the battle over Aleppo.

On 1 February 2013, a suicide bomber attacked the United States embassy in Ankara, Turkey, killing a security guard and wounding three others. The bombing was subsequently denounced as an act of terrorism by both Turkey and the United States.

IF Performance Hall is an indoor concert venue in Ankara, founded on 2004. The venue hosted many concert and entertainment parties, therefore become one of the most popular venues in Turkey. Fahir Öğünç, radio host of Modern Sabahlar was the owner of the venue till late 2000s. The venue is currently owned by Gönül Adamları group as in 2015. In early 2015, after a major interior renovation caused move of the concert stage from northeastern to southeastern corner, two homosexual men accused the venue's security staff, as the duo proclaimed were banned for being gay. The venue later explained this incident as those two men has brought alcoholic beverages outside of the venue and disturbing the people entertaining inside. The venue also proclaimed to don't matter any sexual preference as the venue hosted several LGBT musicians such as Cem Adrian in past. IF Performance Hall Ataşehir is first branch of the IF opened in July 2016 in Istanbul (Asian side). The second branch in European side of Istanbul named after its neighbourhood Beşiktaş, opened in January 2017. IF has two branches more in Zurich, Switzerland (Winter 2018), and Eskişehir (Autumn 2018).

Kavaklıdere is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Çankaya, Ankara Province, Turkey. Its population is 6,190 (2022). The name means "poplar stream" in Turkish.

Embassy of France in Ankara (French: Ambassade de France en Turquie) is France's diplomatic mission to Turkey. It is located at Paris Street, Kavaklıdere, Çankaya. It is designed by Albert Laprade. In August 2015, Charles Fries was appointed to the post of Ambassador to Turkey. He was deposed from his post in April 2020. In June 2020, Herve Magro was appointed to the post of French Ambassador to Turkey.

Kuğulu Park (Swan Park) is a 1 ha (2.5 acres) public park in the Çankaya neighborhood of Ankara, Turkey. The park is known for its swans (a symbol of Ankara), but also has ducks and geese. Its pond was renovated in 2012.In June 2013 Kuğulu's waterfowl (35 birds) were evacuated temporarily to protect them from tear gas exposure during the 2013 Turkish protests. The park was a major meeting point for protestors, and saw a Taksim Gezi Park-style encampment.The City of Vienna gave the park a gift of swans.

The Ombudsman Institution (Turkish: Kamu Denetçiliği Kurumu) is a Turkish institution that examines and investigates complaints and submits recommendations about the conformity of the activities of the Government of Turkey with law and fairness under the respect for human rights. The institution is independent of the government and answers to the Parliament alone. The Ombudsman Institution evaluates complaints of both individuals and legal entities. Foreign nationals may also lodge complaints to the Ombudsman Institution.Its functioning is regulated by article 74 of the Constitution and by bill number 6328 of the Parliament from June 14, 2012. The office is accredited as Turkey's national human rights institution.

Bakanlıklar (Turkish for Ministries) is a neighborhood in central Ankara, the capital of Turkey. It's a section of the larger Kizilay neighborhood, centered around nearby Kizilay Square. As the name suggests, the area is the location of several agencies of the Turkish government, most notably the Grand National Assembly, the Turkish parliament, which has met here since 1960. The Supreme Court of Appeals, the Interior Ministry and the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces are also located in the neighborhood, as well as the popular Güvenpark.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi), usually referred to simply as the TBMM or Parliament (Turkish: Meclis or Parlamento), is the unicameral Turkish legislature. It is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Turkish Constitution. It was founded in Ankara on 23 April 1920 in the midst of the National Campaign. This constitution had founded its pre-government known as 1st Executive Ministers of Turkey (Commitment Deputy Committee) in May 1920. The parliament was fundamental in the efforts of Mareşal Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 1st President of the Republic of Turkey, and his colleagues to found a new state out of the remnants of the Ottoman Empire.

The Iranian ambassador in Ankara is the official representative of the Government in Tehran to the Government of Turkey. The Persian embassy was established next to the Sublime Porte in 1852 (1230 years After the Hegira AH) and Hajji Mirza Ahmad Khan Khoi was appointed to the expedition and the resident minister. On 1 October 2023, a suicide bombing occurred in front of the General Directorate of Security building, in the Turkish capital Ankara, injuring two police officers. The bomber's companion, who was also planning to blow himself up, was shot and killed by police before he could detonate his explosive. Prior to the attack, the perpetrators reportedly hijacked a vehicle in Kayseri and killed its driver before driving to Ankara. The PKK claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Kocatepe Mosque (Turkish: Kocatepe Camii) is the largest mosque in Ankara, Turkey. It was built between 1967 and 1987 in the Kocatepe quarter in Kızılay, and its size and prominent situation have made it a landmark that can be seen from almost anywhere in central Ankara.
