Kavaklıdere is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Çankaya, Ankara Province, Turkey. Its population is 6,190 (2022). The name means "poplar stream" in Turkish.

Bakanlıklar (Turkish for Ministries) is a neighborhood in central Ankara, the capital of Turkey. It's a section of the larger Kizilay neighborhood, centered around nearby Kizilay Square. As the name suggests, the area is the location of several agencies of the Turkish government, most notably the Grand National Assembly, the Turkish parliament, which has met here since 1960. The Supreme Court of Appeals, the Interior Ministry and the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces are also located in the neighborhood, as well as the popular Güvenpark.

Andrei Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, was assassinated by Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, an off-duty Turkish police officer, at an art exhibition in Ankara, Turkey on the evening of 19 December 2016. The assassination took place after several days of protests in Turkey over Russian involvement in the Syrian Civil War and the battle over Aleppo.

On 1 February 2013, a suicide bomber attacked the United States embassy in Ankara, Turkey, killing a security guard and wounding three others. The bombing was subsequently denounced as an act of terrorism by both Turkey and the United States.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi), usually referred to simply as the TBMM or Parliament (Turkish: Meclis or Parlamento), is the unicameral Turkish legislature. It is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Turkish Constitution. It was founded in Ankara on 23 April 1920 in the midst of the National Campaign. This constitution had founded its pre-government known as 1st Executive Ministers of Turkey (Commitment Deputy Committee) in May 1920. The parliament was fundamental in the efforts of Mareşal Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 1st President of the Republic of Turkey, and his colleagues to found a new state out of the remnants of the Ottoman Empire.

On 1 October 2023, a suicide bombing occurred in front of the General Directorate of Security building, in the Turkish capital Ankara, injuring two police officers. The bomber's companion, who was also planning to blow himself up, was shot and killed by police before he could detonate his explosive. Prior to the attack, the perpetrators reportedly hijacked a vehicle in Kayseri and killed its driver before driving to Ankara. The PKK claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Court of Cassation, also called Supreme Court of Appeals of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyet Yargıtay Başkanlığı – Yargıtay for short) is the last instance for reviewing verdicts given by courts of criminal and civil justice in Turkey.

The Kocatepe Mosque (Turkish: Kocatepe Camii) is the largest mosque in Ankara, Turkey. It was built between 1967 and 1987 in the Kocatepe quarter in Kızılay, and its size and prominent situation have made it a landmark that can be seen from almost anywhere in central Ankara.

Kızılay is a neighbourhood in Çankaya, Ankara, Turkey. It is named after the Kızılay Derneği (Turkish Red Crescent) whose headquarters used to be located at the Kızılay Square, its centre. Güvenpark in Kızılay has many trees and benches, while a metro station and a bus terminal nearby provide easy access to other parts of the city. On March 13, 2016, Kızılay suffered a terrorist bombing which killed 37 people and injured 125. The bombing took place on Atatürk Boulevard near Güvenpark.

Hellenoturkism (Greek: Ελληνοτουρκισμός, romanized: Ellinotourkismós; Turkish: Helenotürkizm) is a political concept that encompasses two things: a fact of civilization (i.e. the co-habitation and interdependence, since the 11th century) of the Greek and Turkish peoples and cultures, and a political ideology based on the above civilizational phenomenon, which aims at establishing a Hellenic–Turkish political ensemble, national, and cultural identity. Most believers in the ideology support differing main principles and points, although generally supported ideas are that, one, both nations and peoples share similar cultures, traditions, histories, and also a mixed genetic similarity. Such a unification could create a new global and regional, military and economic power within the European Union and NATO, which could also peacefully resolve ongoing disputes between the Cypriot, Greek, and Turkish states and communities such as the Cyprus problem, the Aegean problems, and also Maritime-border disputes in the Mediterranean between the two Cypriot communities and three nations.

The Istanbul Film Festival (Turkish: İstanbul Film Festivali) is the first and oldest international film festival in Turkey, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. It is held every year in April in movie theaters in Istanbul, Turkey. As mentioned in its regulations, the festival aims to encourage the development of cinema in Turkey and to promote films of quality in the Turkish cinema market. The 40th edition of the festival was held from April 1 to June 29, 2021, in hybrid format.

International Labor Film Festival or Labor Film Festival is a film festival in Turkey, starting from May 1 (May Day) and continuing until May 8, every year since 2006. The festival starts every year in Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir between May 1 and 8, and after these dates it travels to many cities in Turkey. Workers' Film Festival is a non-competitive, ticketless and free film festival. In addition, various exhibitions are held at the festival. Worker Film Festival uses Karagöz and Charlie Chaplin figures, which it has introduced as the "festival mascot" since 2006, in all its posters and visuals. These festival mascots have also inspired banners in some actions.
